How will WoW die....

MasterPain55MasterPain55 Member Posts: 257

Ever since the intro to resilience, the pvp game and pve game are completely seperate. Its almost like two different games now. It looks to me like WoW is going to end up killing its self similar to what happened with swg, but over a longer time scale. Its sad because a person on the wow forums brought up the topic of resillence destroying the game and a dev (blue) replied by saying, we understand your concern and we will be adding superior items(blues) w/ resisilience to more reputation vendors. It just goes to show that WoW is allways going to be a endless grinding game and eventually people are going to see through this and move to other mmos.

Without a continious cycles of new and improved items entering the game people will very shortly max out their characters. The resulting stagnation as nothing new entered would be far worse than having to actually play the game on a regular basis to keep you uber status.

New gear NEEDS to enter on a regular basis to keep the game fresh, and it has to surpass older gear in some fashion or it is meaningless.

WoW will never die.  Considering games like UO, EQ1 and Lineage 1 are still running, I can't fathom WoW dying in the near future.  What's really scary is, WoW has the potential to outlive it's creators...

I hope WoW keeps million of people since it shows mmo's can make mad money.  Although, I think you are right on one level that the next exp in WoW they are putting in the jedi class.  I think the jedi class destoryed SWG, they needed to have it be not in the game or a beginning class.  The whole I want to be the only jedi really caused people to act like door knobs.

WoW will die when Blizzard comes out with their next MMO IMO - it's just too popular. But yeah I agree that Reselliance runied that game. i remeber when the only Epic gear you saw was from raiding MC and now Epic gear is the norm (thanks wellfare PvP).

Your right, wow is much, much better and will probably out-live those games ten fold.

I have no idea how WOW will die, but i have a feeling that i will pop my clogs still reading these 'death of WOW' posts 40 years from now!

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

I look at it like this—WOW will never die it has to many people that follow the game. However, if you call a game that is dieing WOW will be a long death…AGAIN to many people play/follow the game… WOW will be down to 3 to 5 servers in the next 5 years…

But if that next great MMO comes out it could be a much quicker death than 5 years

Could be 2 years… So how could WOW die quicker, besides what they have added with the PVP thing—even though that is just setting up the expansion pack coming out.

So the question is What is the next best MMO that will take the MMO community by its feet.. And I can only come up with 2 maybe 3...

In order form worst to best chance to start the killing of WOW!!

1.The release of AOC, and WAR—depending on how these games turn out it could take some players from wow especially the PVPer’s….

2.A new way at looking at an MMO—something different what that is I don’t know!!! But it will happen—the question--isn’t how or what it will be--its when!!!

    3. You may laugh at this one, but I do believe this has one of the best shots(partly cause I’m a little—bit a fan boy) A new Star Wars MMO(Star Wars Has the following of millions of people) However, if it is Done right(Maybe Bioware-- hers to hoping) Star Wars could be the one to knock WOW on an immediate Decline because of the following Star Wars has… And how much of the media/websites/forms anything---is all talking about Bioware and the potential Star Wars MMO—and how a huge majority of the MMO community is hoping for that to happen. With the New Star Wars Movie coming out AUG 15th(CGI) and it coming to Cartoon Network in the Fall(at least 100 episodes that follow the Movie)

How could you not piggy back on something like that with a Star Wars MMO!!!

Like I said I’m a fan boy(Star Wars)—but the other reason I say this is because of what WOW did for the MMO community it made it bigger---And by doing so, it has made the game industry rethink MMO’s….. And introduced the average gamer to the MMO world.

O and One Final thing----Everyone Knows Star Wars!!!!

Okay...nothing will ever kill itself like SWG did or be similar for that matter.  What SOE did to SWG is most unforgivable in the entire history of MMORPGS.

Same as all other MMO's people will just move on, I was hardcore 2005/2006 and left after doing the closed beta for the expansion.

Anyone still playing now with all that grinding needs their heads looking at.

WoW was 2005/2006 for me, like Planetside was 2003/2004, next big ones will be AoC and then WAR so see you there.

YOU should get your head examined.

Since patch 2.3 the game never was better.

It''s the only MMORPG these days where the player decides HOW he/she plays the incredible rich game.

Hence 62.2 % MMO marketshare. hence guys like you are just looking pathetic

Have fun with the bad Conan loading screens and instanced laggy graphics.

Conan will NEVER surpass the 1.5% marketshare due to it's incredible bad game design.

    Gameplay ALWAYS will prevail.

Whatever your on stop taking it, you sound like a complete Fangirl.

The game was and is good, the question was how will it die, the answer the same as all other MMOs. 2 years or more on any MMO and people start to drift off, I did the hardcore, I was in Sons of Temujin where we cleared Molten Core up to Naxx at the same time as the other leading guilds.

I got to do the closed alpha then beta for the expansion which was great but I soon realised the game was not going to be as good as vanilla wow so I left after getting my two mains to 70.

Now I like a lot of other people will try what others have to offer in the world of MMO like all the other normal people, now back off into WoW like a good little addict maybe Blizzard will invite you to do the next expansion alpha testing (rofl sure).

Does anyone know when Human  kind will die???  please for the love of god save us from the stupidity on this site.  Every month there is a thread on how wow will die.

Funny thing is the fanbois were telling us for years and months AOC was going to destroy it and it will revolutionise the mmo market LMAO. So much for that theory.  While you keep saying wow will die, it actually gets stronger and stronger, so yoy shoudl ask what other so called next gen mmo wil die faster than wow lol.

WoW has way too many subs to die in any of our lifetimes.  However, WAR will probably put a dent in the subs, but nothing too crippling.  In fact, I bet a lot of people that play WAR will also play WoW.  It'll be interesting to see what happens later this year.

WoW wont die simply because people are too dumb to realize that they are going to make it a money sucking game......

EQ is the best example of this, Constantly coming out with new expantions and making people buy them to continue to play. Putting in things that can just be patched in but insted making people pay for it.

WoW has such a big fanbase that they can now do this too. Burining Crusade and The Frozen Lich King or w/e its called(coming out). I stopped playing WoW after I played my friends 60, now 70, character. I realized that there is nothing left to do after 70 accept get gear, sit by a BG master and pvp. Dont get me wrong PvP is the only thing i honestly look for in a MMORPG because i like compitition, but i just dont like capping out and having nothing else to do.

Some people like this and because they are constantly raising the level cap and adding stuff yet making people pay for it, they will continue for years.

I can only hope that WAR takes over.

So hardcore players outnumber casuals?  lol

I doubt WoW will die, but it's population will diminish when a few good MMOs come out.  I don't think any one game will hurt WoW much, but if multiple games come out that are good, people will flock to each.
