I think it would be cool but tell me what you think?

No. Don't port a single player game into a multiplayer. And vice-versa.

Actually. I say yes. I think it would be great to see morrowind online. image

    No, not ever.

If anything Morrowind could be good as multiplayer, 2-4 players, but absolutely not a MMORPG.

You can't just go around making MMORPGs out of any game cause it seems cool. IT MUST BE FEASIBLE.

I think it would've been cool if morrowind was online. But there is so much to do anyways I don't think it would be any more fun.

    Well...

Morrowind have the basics of a good soloing system for a MMORPG.  It lack depht however and you would need to add depht if you plan on keeping your soloers for more then a few weeks.

Adding depht can be done with tons of farming(skills or gear) or with very challenging fights, or both.

I humbly think you need to make add a little complexity to Morrowind, many many skills(magic especially).  But yes, Morrowind is a good starting for a solo oriented MMORPG.  (or that solo aspect in a MMORPG).

There is no way Morrowind can be good for a multiplayers games like 2-4, but a MMORPG is possible.  Morrowind is for soloers.  There is no point in having 4 soloers in 1 world.  But having thousands of soloers in 1 world does have many interesting assets and points no matter what folks say.  4 soloers cant compete much.  Thousands of soloers, you can have competition for stuff, instanced preferred.  Competition is what make Morrowind a good soloing MMORPG.  Of course soloers can find cooperation and help when there is thousands of soloers.

I humbly think Morrowind would more be 1 continent, or 1 planet or 1 world in a bigger MMORPG.  This would make sure that when your soloer tired of soloing, they do something else, like grouping, crafting, raiding or PvPing.  Then they will resume soloing at a later point, which is all good, you see, you get competition among your devs teams to get the player to YOUR aspect of the game.  And soloing certainly have the strongest assets of any gameplay, because you can always do it, there is competition and a little cooperation...yet, brilliants dev team could interest players in  their respectives area if they do it right, without giving solo uberness to non-soloers for God sake!

I don't see why not. Morrowind is basically a massive single player roleplaying game. All that is missing is the online part.

The elder scrolls universe is a great place and I'd like to see a massive online version.

  • SethianSethian Member Posts: 7

Well in my opinion Morrowind would be a huge success online especially if Bethesda worked  with some of the big modders out there who could help them build a bigger world to play in.

I like the idea of more skills but i think the stats would have to count for more as i feel they don't make a great impact on your character, in the sense of what you can and can't fight or do.

I really think it could and should work and it would be great if Bethesda took up our ideas.

I think that it woundn't have to be massivly multiplayer but just like 60 or so players. It would be so darn cool!!!!!

Tell me what you think of that?

    Yup...

You dont need a real MMORPG per say.

The game is design for solo play.

Having thousands of players matter, but they can play on 1, 2 or 200 servers, as long as they can "compete" and interact(talk) with each other, you dont really need them to walk all on the same server.  So servers of 1 player or 100k players hardly matter, as long as they can chat with each other and that they can compete with each others in as many form as possible(levels, achievements, gear, anything else that they can compare...look to some extend).

    I have to say no

I would have a feeling it would be a typical cookie cutter fantasy mmorpg....

Morrowind would make a train-wreck of a MMORPG.  The character system is dreadfully unbalanced - everyone would playing the exact same character.  On the plus side, the vast, repetitive landscapes and the hollow fed-ex style quests would fit right in with many existing MMORPGs.image

That said, Bethesda making a Massive Multiplayer Elder Scrolls game seems rather inevitable, doesn't it?

I don't think so, and some of you who have said yes haven't taken it much though and it's wouldn't be Morrowind online it would be The Elder Scrolls: Online. I like Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind but it really wouldn't make a good MMORPG and keep it's classic gameplay. I'm not going to get into it but think about these points:

    - Stealing

    - Killing NPC's

    - Guards

    - Transportation

    - Level System

    - and their's many more.

Hmm I wonder if bethesda could make The Elder Scrolls Online or something.
It would combine the worlds of morrowind, and those other ones that I heard so much about from the NPCs in the game, the worlds from post-sequel, and make it into a genuine MMORPG with a new system, kinda like what Blizzard is doing with WoW.

Now that would rock, and with Bethesda's reputation, they would do good.

P.S. OMFG I just remembered. Long time ago I read an interview that some company had with bethesda (like I said, loong time ago), and I can recall one question that was something like this "Will you ever make an Elder Scrolls MMORPG" and the answer was something like "proably yes, we'll see"
Now if I can just remember where I saw that!
/me opens yahoo.com and starts searching!

I agree 100% with you. I also thought about those. They would have to totally change the game to make it online.

As a Morrowind fan I would have to say no.  I agree with Enigma that it would be cookie-cutter, and I don't see why the should ruin a perfectly good singe player game by making it online.

That being said, Bethseda is making an NGage Elder Scrolls with I believe up to 4 people co-op.  It could be fun, we'll see.

Oh, I also think I heard an interview somewhere that said they wouldn't make an online game in the near future.

I think when most of us think of Morrowind MMORPG, we don't think it's Morrowind 3 + online addon. That would just be a disaster. We mean a new mmorpg designed from the ground up, specifically for mmorpg, but with the current story or universe. That means it would have a completely different skill system, different characters, quests, content etc.

And how does making an online version ruin a single player game? How does it possibly affect your single player experience? If you ignore the new online game, why would it interfere with your "perfectly good single player game"?

BTW, Bethseda is working hard on Fallout right now so it wouldn't happen anytime soon. :)

Jesus guys, it wouldn't be Morrowind. If you really know about TES you would know that Morrowind is just one large region where the dark elves are from. Thats why you see them alot. Theirs a huge region where each race is home to. Their is: Hammerfell, Morrowind, Black Marsh, Elsweyr, Cyrodiil, Valenwood, Summerest Isle, High Rock, and Skyrim. All together it is the Empire. If The whole Empire was in a MMORPG, it would be the largest mmorpg world ever (yeah it would). But I don't think it would be an mmorpg . . .

    I agree.

I would explain this but it would be like a friggin esay . . . it is mind boggling though what you just saidimage

I never herd of it. I need to look up some info on it.

Ok then call it Tamriel Online, Elder Scrolls Online...whatever.  I didn't mean the province of Morrowind MMORPG. image

As for requiring an essay to explain how to completely separate game ruins your experience..it only requires 3 words: it does not. Unless you are psychologically impacted by the existence of an online version of the universe...well I won't get into that. image All you have to do is completely ignore the online game...don't read about it and continue playing the single player games.

  • EmilinEmilin Member Posts: 94

Maybe we should mass-contact Bethesda requesting a MMORPG in the Tamriel universe :D

P.S. Still no luck on finding that damn interview.

A big yes, although it certainly would need some work to get properly balanced, but I think a Morrowind Online would be great.

  • ianubisiianubisi Member Posts: 4,201

    Of course there should be.

  • LhexLhex Member UncommonPosts: 262

I hated the single player Morrowind.

It is the lonliest world ever created. But that is considering the fact that I am an MM junkie. SO if it were to be MM I would be on board.
