Like others have stated, the whole rating system is a joke. Whether it be movies, games, or music, Hardly no one inforces it. How many times have you been to a R rated movie, and a ton of teenagers are there?
The only thing that really stops minors from playing AoC is the credit card, but most parents will just use their cards for it. People think just because the game has a M rating is going to stop minors from playing are fooling themselves.

I didnt think it would totally stop teens from playing Age of Conan. What I assumed though was that it would at least keep a majority away, thus giving us a mature community.
From the poll and posters, it seems like it will the complete opposite community I was hoping for. I know these polls arent totally accurate but still, 73% or more will be age 13-23 yikes
Anyways. To answer the the qeustion. I definitely think there majority of players will be at least 18.
Simply because anyone below that age wouldn't have the required system to play the game. Heavy system requirements will prevent many little kiddies from playing this game. Its not the age restriction wich is useless as evident by Grand Theft Auto series.
Take a look at my post asking about how the roleplaying server is doing. Majority of the gamers are playing naked avatar women and ganking everyone. Wanna guess what age they are ?
some kids, many 18-30yr olds and quite a few 30+. fairly standard population for MMO's
the only time when a game eliminates (or draws in) the younger ones is when it is either too complex (old SWG, EVE) and the young ones cant handle it, or its too easy (WoW, Runescape and the other 5 million browser based games) and it draws in the kiddies and repulses the older gamers.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
I dont care about age, There are 18 yearolds out there with more life experience and maturity than 40 yrolds. And likewise there are 40 yrolds who act like 5 yr olds and 18 yrolds who act like 5 yr olds. The only thing that can be scaled here is "Maturity"... (Age) is just a generalization that wont get any results. truthfully, female titties in MMO is nice and everything , but what is really amazing is the player cities/siege warfare, that is gonna be awsome. Besides, immature players only bother you if you let them. If you are bothered by that crap, /ignore them, if you cannot enjoy a game simply becasue something like this, than you are just as dumb. /spam /ignore
it will be the standard crowd. some kids, many 18-30yr olds and quite a few 30+. fairly standard population for MMO's

Than let us pray they 5yr olds pack up and leave once they realise it is not the easiest thing in the world to mass gather resources to build a player deffence fortress, and then "defend it" maybe they will have there parents get on the game and talk some sense into us roughhousing hardcore mmo adults. (sarcasm haha)
I'm kinda surprised ur surprised. You have to understand, this game was marketed as a pvp head-lopper bloodfest. Add a skill component and it attracts the inane "Pwnerz" who believe that the sun rises and sets on blizzard's front doorstep and seem to be out to honorlessly and disrespectfully gank their way to the top of the dungheap. Naked Gank squads are probably only the beginning.

Game is being marketed to children , there is no legal enforcement , nor company policy against children. If you goto any retailer with Conan , the average buyer is 12 ~ 16. The blogs , interviews and stuff have detailed stuff which appeals to the boy factor.
Is it bad? Doesnt make any difference , there is no law requiring them to make sure underage folks dont view this material. Further more the board which enforces this kinda of market is run by the video game makers.
The problem is going to be if you attempt to treat the community as adults when most arent and out breaks of emotional rants will be common. Funcom has made it pretty clear they cant handle themselves or the people they marketed this game towards.
You shouldnt expect any different behavior than any other game. Nobody enforces age , rp , or even pvp rules, you ll do yourself a disservice to believe M = Mature , M = gimmick to sell to kids.

It would be interesting to see another poll asking the players their age.
...followed by Funcom booting their account for being underaged. The rating is there for a reason

hahaha
Yep, you are right.
well of course it will its a pvp game......its kinda like asking will there be drinks at the party?

Yep, you are right.
wouldnt it be nice if someone actually did enforce something for a change ?
Reminds me of smoking law. You need to be 18 to smoke, yet I see kids lighting up right in front of cops and they do nothing.
Considering the apparent demand from the teens though, I cant see Funcom doing a dam thing to enforce the M rating.
look at this link, it will give you an idea of the kind of community we're getting.

bumping for more votes. My goal is an even 100, so 19 more to go
11 more votes till 100 bump
Maturity is not always determined by age.

but generally yes it is.

cmon 3 more votes
The only problem underage players could pose is if the politicians got word that there were underage players on the game.
As with everything this calls for moderation, and as with everthing moderation sucks,
after what I saw today in Cimmeria, I think the poll results might be inaccurate. I saw so many idiot naked gank squads it was ridiculous.
So much for a roleplaying PvP server
Naked female gank squads?
Reminds me of this reoccuring nightmare...
it will be the standard crowd.

Like Reborn17 said.
But the game is certified 18+, so Funcom expect no one under that age to play it.
The game might as well have "11 to 17 teen year old boys buy this!" on the box!
