It was just released calm down, I know it may seem like a lot but they may be expieriencing (spelling?)problems we don't know about. Also holy crap I just got 69 posts woohoo!
I agree with the OP. Yes I do understand it was just released. As for these problems we dont know about, they should of been handled before release dont you think? I dont think its a stretch to ask for a product to work after you pay/purchase.
I dont pretend to be a tech of sorts or understand the in and outs of making/sustaining an mmorpg. I do understand when someone purchases a car you dont tell them " hey, you may not beable to drive it tomorrow because we didnt get all the bugs out". That goes for anything you purchase. its annoying and upsetting to put down 50 bucks for something, come home and install/patch and then see that its unavailable to play. A mere 24 hrs after launch and what some 2/3 days after the Free Play some got to participate in.
Im not here to say whoa.. games going to fail. Im here to say this type business model where we continue to test a product we are paying full price for is getting a bit old. You can come and give all kinds of examples of how all the other mmorpg companies have done the same and we just have to deal with it, well im here to say you dont and you shouldnt have too.
Bottom Line, you pay for something it needs to be ready to roll.
when you think it as a product you purchase, you are right. but in my opinion mmos are more of a service than product. you join a club which has monthly fee, you want to go there whenever you want (or as advertised) but reality is sometimes pipes broke at the wrong place, sometimes overcrowded, flu alert etc and you cant. you may, as someone said "bitch" all you want, but the thing is, managment didnt want/expect it either(grammer?) its bad for their business also. if they make a habit of doing this you can always walk away. besides isnt the early access thing in fact free? i mean with what you paid (which was about 1/3 of the monthly fee ) you got 10 days of extra play time right?
also you are looking at the wrong place for sympathy, half the people here whined about not being able to get into early access, i would move along with a innocent-looking sky-aimed whistle if i were you
I'm sorry, but this is flat out bullshit. First off, many of us took days off from work to play this game during the first, essential days after launch. Now we get to sit here with our thumbs in our asses while funcom attempts to get their shit together.
You DO NOT take severs down during the day unless there's an absolutely crucial (IE Exploit) issue that needs to be dealt with in an emergency.
Do your goddamn maintainance at 3am, or whatever, like any other RESPONSIBLE gaming company.
Yes, I am pissed, and my credit card statement says I have a right to be.
I love the game, and will continue to play, but this shit better be sorted and FAST.
WTF? They should say like we dont know when the servers going to be up, but hopefully soon and stop making my hopes go up every time they say in 2 more hours. Hey it did just come out and of course theres going to be problems. So people go to forums and find something to talk about because i am not patient and i have no idea what to talk about.
I understand all this important bugs and stuff but funcom has to develop a system whereby all subscriptions are automatically compensated for unplanned downtime
Whenever my internet company has a downtime they compensate us by giving us few extra days free.
We users have to petition Funcom that not always it is acceptable especially when we are shelling out money
Enough will the fracking emos in this thread, MMOs always have issues on startup. Use all the 'lower your standards' posts ya want but computers don't always function exactly the way you want them too, get over it.
I agree with Kankan. i dont buy shit just to wait and use it. when i buy it i want it to be ready. How many people have bought a 360 game and were told nope not right now wait?! NONE. so how come we as PC gamers take it. I jsut dont understand it. and then when people get pissed about it u get the typical... Well its a MMO blah blah blah. STFU. its people like u why the companies do it.
And when you buy a 360 game and they have bugs or something else wrong with them what are the chances they're going to get fixed? Would you rather play a MMO that has a massive amount of bugs and whatnot because they never patch and fix their game so people can play 24/7?
It was just released calm down, I know it may seem like a lot but they may be expieriencing (spelling?)problems we don't know about. Also holy crap I just got 69 posts woohoo!

Excuse me, but the $50 is for the product not a service. the $15 however would cover the service, but we have not even reached that part yet(35 more days). And no, the 10 days has now been reduced to 7 days(with down time in EA).
how bout i fix you guys a wahburger and some french cries. seriously this happens with all mmos and they are complex to make so unless you have extensive experience developing mmos STFU. after all they are working on improving the game for us the players. there are other things to do in life so go do something while they work on the game
I understand that all MMO releases are now just like this one and I'm not complaining really. I know theres a lot of people some where that have been working their asses off this past week. However, I'm just wondering, were early MMO releases like this one, or were they more polished and with all bugs fixed? I have this feeling that now adays companies just have to get these games out and start making money and that we've put up for it for so long that they now know they can do it when ever they want. Idk..just ranting, just wondering...
Dragging you along telling you one thing and then continually changing, is another.
Tell us 3 or 5hrs from the begining. If it comes up early, weeeeee.
We can at least plan to go do something else then come back later. If you tell someone an hour or maybe 2 hours, that isn't enough time to do anything. For me personally, I say screw it, I'll just wait.
WTH is wrong with you people. You're whining about a patch that's designed to fix the very game you play. You lose 4 hours NOW, but saves yourselves from several days of grief later on.
This isn't a console system where ALL machines are EXACTLY alike down to every little microchip on the boards that run them to the cables that power them.
You're asking for perfection on systems that won't allow perfection.
MMOs are in a constant state of development. Regardless of how it's spun. ALL MMOs are ALWAYS still in beta even after release.
I just don't understand you peoples mode of thinking. You want a working game, but you won't accept the terms of making it a working game. It's completely absurd. It's ok to fix the game, but not to bring down the servers to implement those fixes. Doesn't that mean the game goes no where?
Stop being ignorant immature inbred children and grow the hell up already.
Your life shouldn't revolve around the computer. Go outside. Get a puppy and play fetch. Do something with your life besides ranting on a god damn forum, because your game server has to go down for additional time in order to FIX bugs that you DO NOT LIKE.
Say hello to the real world children. It doesn't always work out the way you want it to and it's FAR from perfect. Enjoy your stay.

Definetly a 30 y/o living in his parents basement.
Anyway, most people arn't complaining about downtime. If you read any of the posts. I am still trying to get an answer to the question I asked, maybe you could read the actually thread.
Good post, _Kyle_... too bad 80% of the people on here probably wont read it.
No game is perfect when it is released, and absolutely NO MMOs are perfect at launch. You CANNOT test every single aspect of an MMO while it is in production... that is impossible, even if you did have the time and budget to do so.
The real tests come when thousands and thousands of people all log into the game at the same time and begin going on their own way through the game. When problems inevitably show up, these need to be fixed as soon as possible.
At least Funcom is doing this during normal working hours this time, instead of peak playing time, so no one in the U.S. should be complaining. Besides, it's the first day after the REAL launch.
Since most of you probably just started playing MMOs anyways, I'll give you a recent example: WoW. The game was unplayable, literally, for the first few days. That is why all of us who had accounts at launch have several free days given to us because of how terrible the launch was. Yet now, no one seems to remember that.
That's how this miniscule downtime will appear in the weeks to come.

Booo that 2 hour addition to downtime.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
guys...just let it go. Play it tomorrow. Staring at a server update isnt going to speed anything up. Go to a movie or something.

I'm sure they knew at least 30mins ago that they weren't gonna come back up with the server.

Apparently no one was around for the WoW launch, or, you know, any other MMO launch.
its almost prime time here, two more hours till 6pm. it should be up by then though, i would assume.
When I said early MMO I didnt mean WoW. How bad was EQ when it first came out?
Downtime is understandable.

the real issue at hand here is TIMING.
Almost every MMO I've played does their updates during the wee hours of the morning. WTF is this middle of the day shit?
