Maybe on your server there, but everything is going great on ours. Sorry your server left you with a bad taste in your mouth, but all servers are different as you well know.

    To answer the OP question.

Yeah, I will be subscribing, I am with a excellent guild and RL friends all on the same server. As we know, the majority of players are digging the game. Its ranked #6 on Xfire.com as most played with World of Warcraft being #1.

I love the game and plan on investing time into it.

So, what server you on?  I noticed a utter lack of maturity on quite a few servers. I am looking for one that doesn't have evil little kids on it

Those figures are misleading though give it a week or 3 and i bet it isnt there we all know us MMO'rs are a sad breed and regulary take time of work etc for a games launch and in those first few days play upwards of 8 hrs per day.

I would give it few weks and i guess it will be 1/4 of that statistic, quite suprised that GW is on there was a horrible game.

I had expected more than a fairly standard 'kill 10 rats and lvl up' mmorpg. Sure the graphics are nice and the combat system is a bit different but overall a bit disappointing.

I like the game for now but I will need more time playing to give a final answer

It's too early to tell. It all depends on the state of the end game, especially sieges and world PvP.

I would have to say no at this moment in time considering my retail key is not valid along with many other people that are having this problem.

If anyone has access to the official forums could they be a saint and see if there is any response from funcom on the situation please?

    Regards

The UI is an absolute mess.  The chat box is extremely clunky and very frustrating to try and talk to someone.
It's very easy to get stuck on objects, or fall between cracks, I’ve used the /stuck command about 100 times so far.
The combat system is nothing special.  Remove the auto attack from any standard MMO and this is your combat system.  The directional attacks are absolutely nothing more then auto attack, or additional attacks to start a combo depending on when you use them.  Using them in combo’s works exactly like any other ability in an MMO requiring a pre req.
Funcom got long ways to go, especially on the UI.  It's one of the most important features and they really FUBAR that

If you're really that unhappy with it, why are you forcing yourself to stick with it?  I'd say at least try to flip the game for some amount while demand will still be there.

I'm torn - it's not bad, really, but some things just bug me.  I think that once the 'shiny new car smell' has worn off in a week or two, I'm going to end up not subscribing.  It's just not 'grabbing' me like other games have, and to be honest I'm dissappointed in the graphics.  It was hyped as this whole big deal, amazing 'next gen' graphics, but I'm just not impressed, I think LOTRO has better graphics.  I hate 'crafting' too - the gathering is just soooo tedious and it just doesn't seem like it was designed well, it feels like it was just thrown in at the last minute.

Overall I'm happy with the game for now and I'm enjoying the character classes and the storyline and new environments (been in Middle Earth for over a year, so a new story is a nice change) but, at least right now, it doesn't seem to have enough to 'hook' me and get me paying that monthly fee.

I will say FC really dropped the ball in not offering a lifetime membership, especially launching the game ner 'tax time' - I spent last year's rebate check on a LOTRO lifetime subscription and might have done the same with AoC if thry had offered it.

When scary things get scared, that's bad...

Yeah, i think the fact that they postponed the directx10 graphics release is a bit disappointing.  I also wonder how much of an improvement it will make.

This of the invalid patcher key issue., I am not sure if that is what yo9u wanted. Couldn't find anything on invalid retial keys...sorry :(

Deleting the Pref_1.xml has helped some people. To do this.

You need show Hidden Files/Folders on. To set it on,

Go to Control Panel - Folder Options - View - Show Hidden Files

    1. Navigate to

    VISTA (C:Users"USERNAME"AppDataLocalFuncomConanPr efs)

XP (C:Documents and Settings"USERNAME"Local SettingsApplication DataFuncomConanPrefs)

    2. In there you will find Pref_1.xml, either rename it so you have a backup, or just delete the file.

    3. Load the game/patcher and see if it helps

Actually I did find several posts on some topic relating to bad keys. One suggestion (which had sort of worked for me though my key issue was for the EA from PvP) was to create a new account and a try applying the retail key to it. Obviously if you played in the EA this isn't going to help your characters but if  it's off the shelf, you might give it a try. Something might have bugged during your initial registration.

Sorry. The forums aren't being very helpful over there.

Pre-ordered... had early access.... and now getting a refund for my pre-order. Disappointed... it's okay... just not a step up from what I'm currently playing.

Have to say this is much improved from the performance on beta and I find myself greatly enjoying it. So yes I have to say I'm happy with my purchase at least for now. Time can only tell how it goes from here. It lies upon Funcom to improve their product and to remove the bugs that come with launching. So far it seems they are responding fairly well but we'll see.

I like it so far, especially with the challenge that the Herald of Xotli class brings. It's the first time in a long time (since AC1) that I had to keep some degree of situational awareness in PVE encounters along with PVP ones too. It's not a press the macro key and forget game (at least not yet...).

Am I happy that I bought the game and gave it a go? You bet!

There's a lot here that I love and like but there's also some aspects that really kill the replay-ability.

    Love:

Combat-Most Fun I've had in a Long Time!

Graphics-Wow! Very smooth and very rich environments! If the Fatality Animations don't put a smile on your face I don't know what will.

Sound-Amazing! The music and sound effects really put you into the world.

Gameplay- Takes some getting use to but be patient, it grows on you! This is a skill > ability MMO, my level 12 barbarian whipped the crap out of a 18 demonologist, who tried to gank me!

    Dis-Likes:

Targeting-While I note that its good for the melee classes, I still can't help but feel its a bit "clunky," never accurately and quickly targeting the way I intend on the fly.

UI-While it is straight forward and simple, all the "shift+{random key}", etc., really gets in the way and has caused me numerous times to get my butt handed to me in PvP and PvE.

There's a lot on your plate with attacking directions, abilities/combos, movement, evasion/slam, keeping track of your environment/moving in your envrionment, your health/stamina/mana, shields, etc...it gets a bit overwhelming sometimes.

Instancing- I applaud the reasons why instancing is in but it really takes away from the "massive" element, putting more emphasis on RPG. Its not truly Massive until everyone is on the same "instanced" server while playing.

Social- Everyone is divided on other "instanced" servers, realms within a server a-la Guild Wars style. Me and some friends had the hardest time figuring out how to group up, add other friends, socially interact with ease. The chat windows and social functions need DEFINITE improvement.

Overall- Its definitely worth giving a try (and I say the $50)...IF you have the hardware to run it. My poor GeForce 7600GS is working overtime on Low Settings for smooth gameplay, but what I can get its a lot of fun.

The development folks are working their butts off trying to make sure this one stays in the fight and it can only get better. Expect multiple minor patches here and there and most likely server down time while they implement and fix a lot of problems...but this is for our benefit so be patient. If it bothers you too much, wait a month or two and come back when things have smoothed over and I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Hope this helps and thanks a bunch for your time to read my  mini-review!

Glad the poll is up. "Based on 381 votes."

It gives a better indication then people's posts here. The nitpickers & doomers/gloomers are far more vocal hence why people might think it's going down the shitter. But it's not! The opposite is true :)

Ok. we need more MMOs out now to cater to everyone's needs. This could be a great year for MMOs.

That's a pretty nice summary -- when you talk abouit the aiming, are you referring to melee or ranged/spellcasters?

400+ votes and 70 replies LOL.....good chance at least 300 of those votes are the one and two post wonders that skew the ratings on the first page.

I voted I was pleased with the purchase but waiting on finishing the starter area before deciding on subbing or not. Even if I don't sub the starter area and free 30 days is worth the 40 bucks I think

    I miss DAoC

Well, only 5 in the single digits.  The ratios are holding suprisingly steady, particularly for the lurker group.  I (or someone) will have to run another poll at the end of the free month and see who actually signs on.

one option is missing :) The "Yes i am glad i bought it but definitely won't subscribe" hehe.

I am glad i bought it, i enjoy some aspects of the game and it's good to see what Funcom did in the last 5 years. The money for the box is worth 30 days of single player experience to me, but i canceled my subscription after 2 days and won't renew (ever).

I hope to have done the destiny quest by the time my 30 days are up and then free my disc of 30+ gigs hehe

I sure am happy with my purchase of AoC.

AoC to me is refreshing and didnt mind dishing out the cash for this game. I didnt have high expectations like most and played CB for about 3 months prior to launch. I kind of figured it would have at least 250K active subscribers. But I am having more fun now then I did in CB, maybe cause there is more interraction.

So AoC will keep me busy till Warhammer Online and Stargate Worlds arrive.
