Now that AoC has been released i am even more sure that AoC wont get more than 1.5 million subscribers and it will lose a lot of them when Warhammer and Aion comes.

My prediction is that if  WotLK  will be as bad as TBC then Aion and warhammer will share subscriber base and get a lot of people from WoW as well , making Wow a game with not more than 4 millions.

But if  WotLK is awesome and not shit  Wow will get a lot bigger reaching 15 million people and nothing will compete with it

Ofc thats very difficult to happen imo , cause i believe that WotLK will be bad and the top place will go to Aion if NCsoft  will someday start publishing and advertising it a lot more.

If not Warhammer will take top place. But i give still give my vote to Aion.

    Darkfall

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

I will pretty much go with the poll tbh. What does the question mean though? What makes it 'great'? AoC imo will traill in second behind WoW with WAR third. Aion imo does look good but there are just toooooo many EU/US that just will not give this game a shot mostly through not knowing of its existance.

WoW doesn't need to come top of the poll because it's already there by an unersailable margin tbh, only the next bliz game could topple it.

AoC has the lore/history for the story and imo the general game, by that I mean engine and basic mechnics (it still needs a hell of a lot of adjustments though, but what game doesn't).

WAR I'm hoping will be as good as AoC at release, they already have a built in fan base of great numbers its a case of giving them a product they feel represents what they are looking for. If they can produce like funcom have they will go into 2nd but imo I just don't see it. But I never rated WoW in beta so what do I know.

I'm still preying for TCoS and DF (which most likely doesn't exist) but they have a rep of niche and thats hard to break.

Aion I love the look of the game but they won't market it correctly and no where near enough will try it in EU/US. Globally though its numbers will be astounding and maybe over time even in the west who knows.

Edit: I forgot to say that with AoC coming to xbox also it stands a good chance of toppling the WoW numbers but I guess we arn't counting that?

Well i really think that everything depends on WotLK.

If it is good, there will be no competition for WoW. Nothing will go further than 1 million subs and WoW will raise even more.

But furthermore, because thats a longshot ( i personally think that Blizzard is going to keep tha closeminded thoughts about farming and just give +10level and new continet with a bit more features), big deal will be which of the games will be released first.

After the dust settles i think that people will move from AoC to the next MMO and will stick to the first to come out which will fullfill our desires.

Will it be warhammer,  Aion  or  WotLK.

Meh, you missed out Fallen Earth. It will attract all Falllout fans out there. Sure it will not come out this year, then again will Darkfall?

You think  Fallen earth will have a chance against  AoC, Warhammer, Aion or WotLK or the rest i name in the poll?

Well personally i dont think so. Fallout has a fanbase but its not even comparable to the fanbase the other games have.

Anyway i put these options cause i thought that one these games will become the next great MMORPG.

And yeah, Darkfall will be long be4 it comes out , so maybe y got a point and it shouldnt be in the poll but what the heck. a lot of people believe in Darkfall

I just dont get it why even now  that AoC has been released they keep voting it.

Is it really such a good game. I think i am gonna try it , but i want to give about 15 days be4 i buy it, cause i want to be sure it will run smoothly on pc and it will have at least a decently community of 2 million people playing it. Cause if no people play it , it propably means its a bad game

  • konartiskonartis Member Posts: 6

AoC will never feel a sense of community on servers when ever zone has 5+ mirror instances to it.

Many people upgrade their computers just to play demanding games like these. If someone really wants to play a certain game they will upgrade.

Saying people are at a disadvantage is like saying people don't ever pre-purchase games. If people want to play something they will drop the cash even if its to play a beta.

I dont believe that. If u want to upgrade ur pc u will need at least about 300$ so u can buy at least some RAM and a good video card.

A percentage of about 60% of the players are not really working and are going to school or univercity and are under 25 years old with no kind of income, or are just getting it along till they finish college/ uni to find a good job.

These players find it very difficult to give 300$ just to play a game.

They will just stick to WoW or another game that doesnt has so many requirements.

From the 60% of that players imho i think a 20% will not upgrade its system.

People will upgrade only when they believe the game they want to play is really worth it and they will keep playing it for a long time.

If they are not sure about it they will just w8 for War or Aion.

There is a difference between believing and knowing. You can believe anything you want.

But there are examples that games indeed had made players go and upgrade their computers in the past, Quake without 3d card wasn´t really nice to the eyes so to speak. But it became a big seller because people saw what a great game it was and bought a 3d card, and it was about the only game back then that demanded a 3d card.

The most recent example that high requirement isn´t holding back a game from becoming a big-seller is Crysis (and AoC). The requirements was so high for Crysis that few had computers to run it. In fact in the first months it only sold 86 000 copies! Did that mean that Crysis was too demanding and a failure?

No, it has sold more than 1 million copies, in fact I think it was still on the top 10 list of the most selling games last months.  http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/99063-25-crysis-sales-exceed-million

And if a computer is good enough to run Crysis recommended requiremets  then it is good enough to run AoC.

As I have said many times before, a good game with high requirements will be off for a slow start, but it will not stop people from buying it.

I think Aion have every chanse to become big in Asia, WoW has over half its subscribers there, but AoC hasn´t targetted that market, yet. And I think the same goes for WAR, they will aim for USA  and Europe first. Aion has every chanse to steal Asia players away from WoW and there are plenty of them.

StarCraft 2 is the only game coming up that is a guranteed winner.

I would pre order right now if I could.

  • FFandDBFFandDB Member Posts: 57

What i mean is that with so many Mmorpg coming out this year people have to choose wich game will they play so they upgrade their system on time .

You dont really think that if people who upgraded their pc to play AoC will upgrade when Warhammer or Aion comes out if it has bigger requirements....

So its a bit of a choice , on which game u want to bet ur money.

Ofc if u got a lot money to buy an awesome 3d card now , it will last for the upcoming games as well.

None in the original list.  Devs are too busy copying the unsuccessful design elements from successful games, while not keying in on the true reason certain recent games are successful (i.e., polish and content).

Until Devs created a game world instead of a linear game or games story, MMO's are going to fall short.  They might be successful, but success and quality are two different things (as this cold McDonald's hamburger sitting in my kitchen is proof.)

Ive jumped from game to game looking for decent gameplay and have found nothing. I have surely seen great graphics to huge lands to run but have never found what I have been looking for. Even though I have seen and read about most of the upcoming games and how "great" they will be none of them are convincing enough. What a serious gamer looks for is not the constant grindfest nor the repetition of killing and doing quests which only change appearances once you advance in levels. Serious gamers look for a big world where you can do whatever you want, not in a sense of blowing someones brains but just have a wide variety of classes or things to do, to have a vast world full of adventure, countless new encounters and a good support team. I used to play World of Warcraft which could be considered the best game around but truely it's boring and time consuming. If you do not dedicate yourself to the game you'll have a hard time advancing at all and if you try to restart over and over it's worthless because it's the same thing with a different face...
At first I had thought I had found the ideal game but i was only too young to completely understand it but it gave me everything I wanted, being able to work for what i really want to have fun, be a serious gamer and to socialize. This game was Star Wars Galaxies way before the horrible updates which ended up destroying the game. I will not be satisfied with any upcoming game unless it can give me a similar type of gameplay.

your sixteen years old and you want everything now and you dont want to work for it ''''Right""?

What you want is something like Guild Wars where everything is done all you do is run and fight.  Right?

I do not think it is any of those.  A clone will not get enough numbers to slice away from its competitors.

A new, but different, MMORPG is required (probably a sci-fi):

    • World Immersion on a New Level
    • Character Customization on a New Level
    • Probably a Sci-Fi
    • Grindy, Forced Gameplay Optional But Not Necessary
    • New Concepts in the Area of PvP

    my vote would be GW!

Correction, what I truly want is not to have evrything given to me but if you ever played SWG before the update you had to work your ASS off to get what you wanted, that is what I want. Btw wth does my age have to do with anything...

    SWG the great!

  • admriker4admriker4 Member Posts: 1,070

Fallen Earth belongs on the list.

    • There are 200,000 ex-SWG players out there still looking for a sandbox MMO to call home.
    • There are millions of old-timer gamers like myself that are bigtime fans of the Fallout series (FE clearly inspired by those games)
    • There is a large demand for a post-appocolyptic MMO. Take a look at any post here where folks are asked what setting would you like to see besides fantasy or sci fi and the top one (next to horror) is post-appocolyptic

The potential is unlimted for Fallen Earth. I could see the game getting 500-750k players easily with a halfway decent build. That makes it a top 5 MMO in North America

What I am truly looking for is the basic essentials of an mmo.

    What are these?

    1.  A Game where you have to dedicate more than a month to achieve max level.

    2. Reasonable play time. Not like WoW where you have to dedicate your life in order to get gear and such.

    3. A good GM community that actually pays attention to the player.

    4. SKILL-BASED GAMING offering more than 6+ lousy classes but  letting you choose from over 20 classes such as SWG was before.

    5. Good enough engine that does not obligate an upgrade to your computer nor removes the necesity of evolving mmorpg's.

I could keep on going but these are the simple details I ask of an mmorpg.

Fallen earth will not be released for sure in 2008 , maybe not even 2009, thats why it is not on the list,

On the other hand same goes for Darkfall too but i put it on the list cause the demand was too damn high....

PS. Rigonn good luck with finding the game u want, if ur find it ever. You demand too much from  a game.

Anyway, if u find it plz  pm me instantly so i can join !!!!
