People with top of the line computers are getting 10 fps, im talking about quad core with 4 gigs of ram and duel 9800 gtx's. The game is still in beta and everyone is funding it ;p
That statement is rubbish, I am using a 8800GTX and I am getting 40-50 FPS, how do you know if it is in a beta state as you will not have played it since lauch, if you claim you have then I do not believe you!

I have 8800 gts and get about 5-10 in tarantia. I've read about some fixes that might help, but I expected far better peformance at low settings. hoping the next couple patches or a new driver will solve my issues. otherwise I'm cancelling. not investing a lot of time in an mmo where I can't do any massive endgame content (pve or pvp).
and wow is better. it may be unfair to compare since one is new and the other has 4 years of fixes, but that's the way it is. leveling in aoc is the same as wow.
One thing I will say is that I think the concept design for the classes is excellent. the priest is quite fun to play.
Overall, execution of aoc is very high in tortage. pretty good til 40, then it's a downward spiral very quickly.
If i had better performance, I could enjoy my class, running some instances for a few months. but the low frame rates has soured me on the game. I think the developers put too much emphasis on graphics, blood, and nipples and not enough on polish.
And I do commend them for trying something new with melee combat.
Other mmo makers can learn from funcom's class designs (innovative and fun to play) and their combat system.
Other than that, the game isn't special.
Oh and sanctum of the souls looks cool, but it's no deadmines or hell even wailing caverns. mobs are boring and bosses uninspired. the atmosphere certainly rocks though.

So far 2 characters created and both so far have a different storyline, afcourse hte pickup quest around Hibroria are the same for most, again depending on your choices you make No freedom of movement nor exploration. I aint lvl 20 yet so hard to say as atleast my lvl 11 character is just doing what has been said by the devs, so no suprise here by the lack of freedom as i was not expecting it .....yet No way to skip cut-scenes. Ever tried clicking with your mouse button?? Cringe when I have to create chars Cringe? how so, you can mold your character almost identical to how you look in rl, havn't seen it in depth like this before or more meant seen as realistic as this has been before - story extremely linear. News flash MAINSTORYLINE's are alway's linear, doesn't mean you have to only play it that way, it's those who play it limited or simply choice to be limited to experiance it as limited only, experiance'd MMO players know the storyline is just a part of the game where in a MMO it's still about making your own journy, to many seem to depend on what the game offers, shame to see this happening in this genre....TERRIBLE voice acting and accents. It would be like playing WoW for 7 hours and makeing 3 characters and only sitting in the newbie area and running around dodging mobs trying to explore. You know nowadays most games have options, where you can actually fine tune your GUI, keysettings and other game features, like skipping cut scenes etc.
Other than that, these are all just your opinions and I'm glad you found a place where you can talk about your emotions.

Extremely repetative? Yes, the starter dungeon has WAY too many Pizza Deliveries for no good reason. But that ends the moment you leave the starter dungeon, Tortage. Besides, you played for 7-hours? You couldn't have had to repeat anything unless you played many characters all up to 10th level
No freedom of movement? You are in the Starter Dungeon.
Cringe when you had to make characters? You played for 7-hours. You couldn't have done much with any of them, it sounds like you had a preexisting chip on your shoulder against the game, because it couldn't have been caused by playing in the starter dungeon.
Terrible voice overs? I bet the game you are running back to doesn't even have them.
Nonfluid character movements? Perhaps sometimes they seem to skip, but all MMOs have this and the more graphically intense onces will have more. Why? when you have poor quality walking/running moving like in WoW and others, they already look rediculous so it becomes a nonexpectation.
I have played MMOs since 1999 and I can tell when someone has a pre-existing emotional responce to a toy.

It's like taking your broken PC to be fixed. The local handyman may take a week or two to find out what's wrong, an experienced tech will tell you in 5 minutes. If the OP has tried and played Tortage daytime then he knows how the rest of the game pans out and if it's not for him then it's not for him. To say that he is unable to make that decision after 7 hours of play just shows the ignorance of some on these boards.

I do agree with the OP general feeling that the game isn't good/worth a sub. I don't think regardless of 'experience' you can decide it in 7 hours. After a week and 45-50 levels. I Been playing this game with my low end Pc. and i am getting 50-60fps.. so i would hope people stop making things up.

MMO's which are 7 years old also have 7 years of patches and expansions. None have "far better systems" at launch.
I hear this argument a lot and whereas it does hold some weight, please also remember that developers making games now also have all those years, experience and mistakes that other companies have made to draw on.

i think when there are threads with 20+ pages complaining about the poor fps, it just fucking MIGHT be true, don't tell me what i need to do.
