game requirements are a joke

unless you bought your computer less than a yr ago or upgraded it to the best, good luck running this game.  besides the system requirements, they put wayyyyy to much graphics in it for it not even to look REAL.  WoW may be 3-4 yrs old, but the graphics of the ground and surrounds are damn near the same, with 1/4th the requirements.  i know many ppl may disagree, but get real, the ppl that do already have one of the best systems.

my system is a laptop- i know not for gaming but still

intel duo core t2600 2.16ghz

2gb ram

nvidia  gforce 7400 256mb

running everything lowest it can go- below low settings!

and lags liek a mother ...

also xps with 256mb vid card and 3.2 ghz pentium 4 and 1gb ram

cant even see the game on this system

pisses me off that ya buy the best laptop availible a yr ago and the game runs like shit.  maybe in a yr these requirements will be normal systems but its crazy

they wont get nearly the amount of wow subscribers with this system requirements liek this

you can easily update your video card for 50 bucks. and add another 2 gigs of ram for 65 bucks

this is a laptop keep in mind, but upgrading the vid card. only 50 bucks? where at and any suggestions?  and dont you think my proccesor is holding me back?   i already have 2bg ram in laptop and only two slots, would cost more liek 200 to put 2x 2gb sticks in there

from playing the game the little that i did, i dont even think its as good as wow so far, maybe i didnt get far enough into it. but it seems liek a waste just to play this game

Enigma, I apologize for an earlier post where I accused you of unnecessarily trolling. I see you've posted a number of advisory and neutral posts. I admit I was unfair.

Nice work on the informative and constructive posts.

ah.. a laptop. The top of line 2500 dollar laptop doesnt run too well on the game. If you really must play it, you can always shop at ibuypower.com They are very inexpensive and great hardware too

i bought a computer at walmart threw in a 8800 gts and 2 more gigs of cheap ram and the game runs perfect on high settings for me

  • ValiumSummerValiumSummer Member Posts: 1,008

I have watched my roommate play the game  on a new dual core/ 8800GT rig.  While the graphics are very nice I wasn't awestruck.

I have watched WoW gameplay on the same computer and it is definitely awe inspiring (to me at least).    Blizzard has done a wonderful job.

As time goes on, I think we just going to have to accept that the newer games will require newer hardware.

Laptops graphics card makes them hard to use in high end games. You cant put enough cooling in there (well, you can but it costs a lot) for a fast graphic CPU. Can't reccomend you to have it running any fps games either.

  • plateau01plateau01 Member Posts: 86

If you want to play any modern game then upgrading your ram will be really beneficial. However, if you're not quite sold on what you've seen, perhaps wait until you can secure a buddy key or trial, wait for further optimizations (framerate should improve ove rhte coming weeks and momths) and see if you like it then. If you're enjoying the game you're in and doubt you'll enjoy this, then seriously consider why you'd fork out the money.

I'd say wait and see - obtain a buddy or a trial when they're available unless you're really keen to play.

yea seems like a good idea to buy a new system just to run conan when it runs everything else full blown.

you guys can talk all the shit you want, but dont tell me you didnt have to upgrade your system or ontop of upgrading to be able to play this game.  seems unrealistic to post a game out that requires these specs

  • vash179vash179 Member Posts: 12

the game def does not have good enough graphics to upgrade to play it.

they put too much into the little shit like grass and weeds and overloaded the whole thing imo

  • plateau01plateau01 Member Posts: 86

No need ot be harsh. No one is twisting your arm or compelling you to do anything. You asked for advice and people gave it in good faith.

If you reread I even suggested that perhaps you might consider not buying the game if you're enjoying WoW and unsure about Conan - wait for a buddy key or trial. Or see how the client updates improve framerate. Trust me, people will post about it here when it happens.

The technical requirements isnt anything new in todays gaming world.

2 gigs of ram was on par 2 years ago and your Video card was good and top of the line about 3.5 years ago. You cannot realistically think the games will no longer continue to evolve based on your current hardware.

Good news is you can double the power of your graphics card if you invested in 75 dollars and yo could double your ram if you invested in 65 dollars.

man after 3 years of wow I have no idea what you find awe inspiring about the graphicsin WoW. The only thing I can think of thats awe inspiring about WoW is how well it runs on crappy computers.

one thing I've noticed is that i have not read of one person with an 8800 series card or greater complain about their FPS.

They're not going to lwoer the requirements. Thats impossible. You'll need to upgrade. I know how you feel. I upgrade my mobo, ram, cpu, and graphics card about once evry 2 years to stay on top of the gaming world. It sucks but its the price to pay for improved graphics and gaming.

Framerate and stability tends to improve, and no doubt those two issues are high priorities at Funcom. You will see framerate improvements (there have bene massive ones already) and people will comment on it here when it happens. If friends have the game then try it yourself and aks them how they're finding the experience. Also if they report improvements then this will better inform your decision.

If you're not prepared for some grief and hair-pulling I wouldn't recommend purchasing any MMO at launch. Wait at least a month or two.

your right engmia. would you say the game graphics and gameplay are really up to them specs? from playing the game a little it seems liek the added alot of unessasary things to make it run slower

  • vash179vash179 Member Posts: 12

yea i planned on buying this game asap, untill i found out that my friends xps cant even bring the game up and he sees nothing on his screen lol

  • vash179vash179 Member Posts: 12

Sorry m8, while AOC might have its problems, yours is nothing to do with AoC. Want to game on PCs and be semi current? Upgrade every 1.5 years at a minimum. I'm not saying it's fair, but its the way it is. PCs are not consoles, they require a fair investment to run the latest games at acceptable levels.

PS : I would buy a desktop (or put one together). Laptops arent good platforms for games when compared to desktops.
