so im gunna head back to EQ2 or VG as there are no games other than maybe aion that i like the look of and i need some roleplaying fix . so what do you think is the better of the 2 games and what one wont feel like im playing in a dead world.

Well SOE just reopened all Eq1 and Eq2 accounts for 60 days for free so now is definetly a great time to check out Eq2 again I plan to myself funny thing is I almost resubbed it last week and changed my mind and went with Vanguard lol
lol what an idot
Its like someone claiming: "hey guys, I prefer playing tetris on game boy instead of mass effect on Xbox360"
somone with brains can smell 2 miles away that something is wrong with posts like that.
well good luck on everquest2, we all know that you will be in hyboria 3 days later
SOE and NGE-Star Wars Galalaxies:
Raph Koster: "It's like dumping the girlfriend who has always been patient and loving to chase after the supermodel who probably won't love you back."
I agree, game barerly just launched. It's far from dead atm...
pointless thread.

I suppose you got bullied a lot in school..
i didnt say the game was dead. just feels like a dead world! but maybe thats just for me. you love AOC cool i dont also cool. so chill
i love forums just not the popele who use them
The OP may want to clarify next time. For most of us simpletons we read your forum title and assume thats what you meant. You then didnt say anything in your very short post to say different.
If you dont like AoC thats fine, to each his own. Im curious if you played it beyond a week or more? If your basing the game off the first 20 levels in Tortage?
The instances are no different than they were/are in EQ2. All those small zones near the larger cities all where instanced ( meaning more than one of that zone... EQ2 Nub zone 1, EQ2 Nub zone 2 and ect ) depending on how many where in the zones.
wait.. so.. you're leaving AoC a newer eq2.. for VG a crappier AoC... or maybe to go back to eq2? im confused.... i know poeple dont like this game, but i really only hear about it on these forums, infact i'm starting to remember why there was a time i didnt used to post on any game forums, especially before it was 1-3yrs old lol
aoc owns, no offense but vg graphics maxed out *and running bad atleast on my 2 comps with any settings* looks as good as aoc with graphics almost all the way down, and eq2 runs the same as aoc does it's just older, i am so confused....... i understand people want specific things, i mean hell, they call ddo an MMO and lots of people pay to play that lol, ahh well.. to each their own.
"Sometimes, things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. People are basically good. Honor, courage, virtue mean everything. Power and money, money and power mean nothing. Good always triumphs over evil. Love, True Love Never Dies."
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
AoC rocks! plain and simple. If your rig wont handle it, thats your bad..lol. It runs just fine on my machine, two groups in an instance, spells flashing everywhere, and no lag at all, running a steady 50FPS, up to as much as 120 on Med high settings (which by the way looks great). Yes, there is a memory leak that will once in a while slow me down, nothing a reboot doesnt fix for now, until funcom can fix it.
I hope you will develop the perfect game one day, ill pay you if you do...lol, ya right.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
Did you read your title?

huh???
If you feel AoC is a dead world, then you'll definitely not want to play VG. The VG world is much more dead than AoC. At least Aoc has npcs that live/work in the world/cities, birds in the skies, world particle effects, world shadows, etc... VG doesn't have any of these, it's dead.
VG is empty/dead cities in a dead world. After more than 1 year it is still unpolished. There are no birds in the skies, the cities are huge and nice but dead - the NPCs don't "live" in the world, there are almost no world particle effects, etc... the world is dead. There are only mobs there.
We are now more than 1 year after release, and VG still doesn't have proper shadows. What a crappy engine is that? There are no world shadows. Nothing apart from toons and trees casts a shadow in this game. Houses, objects, etc.. have no shadows. Just look at how bad/wrong all of the daylight screenshots look. Completely breaks immersion for me.
Add to this that the game also still doesn't have antialiasing 1 year after release (yes still crappy jaggy lines all over the screen) for one more immersion breaker...
Go for EQ2, it's definitely much more polished than VG.
Did you read your title?
yeah, was just a title. my mistake to think poeple would read the post.

I obviously did read the post else I wouldn't have replied, I was simply pointing out that you were mistaken when you lied about not saying the game was dead. I thought you might have missed it.

So you created a MMORPG.com account to tell us the AoC is dead.
I would love to know who is paying you and how much. I would love a gig like that.
Cool...Now there will be one less person creating lag. Thanks buddy!
do people still understand that when i say its dead ??? im not saying theres no people in AoC
DEFEND! DEFEND! DEFEND!!!
The replies in this thread are horrible.
More people than I had thought are already giving up on AoC, and there are threads all over if you want to figure that part of it out.
The guy basically said he's thinking about playing EQ2 or VG now, because he doesn't like AoC. How hard is it to build a debate around EQ2 vs VG? Seriously people. List the pros and cons of both games, and let the guy figure out which is better for him. So much emoism over AoC. Have to defend it this early huh? Lots of people don't like it. So what.
Anyway back on topic: Never played EQ2, but heard it was pretty dumbed down. Plays more like a game. VG is probably the more hardcore of the two. Lots of great views in that game. People either love the graphics or hate them. I like VG, and think it runs pretty smooth now. Kinda tired of WoW, and I would say out of all the games on the market right now, I would probably only consider:
- WoW (but bored of it now - kind of linear)
- Eve (but very focused on PvP - the PvE stinks)
- VG (bad launch, but pretty good now)
- EQ2 (I've heard it's a good game - I would probably try it out)
LotRO, DDO, and AoC all sound too linear for me, but other people like them, so to each their own. War will be amazing for some people, but I'm not into realm vs realm (I'm a guild vs guild guy), so I won't try that one either, probably.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

great reply nethervoid! Ok, back on topic. (BTW, when I heard 200 hours to end-game in AoC, I kinda knew it was dead right outta the starting gate).
But, onto the comparison.
I played Vanguard for a few months; eventually quitting because I felt no bonds of friendship with ANYONE. Yep, the gameplay is set up so that you really have very little time to chat. It's just kill-kill-kill-die-port to rez-stone, click-get corpse, kill-kill-kill, repeat.
I played EQ2 for a total of one day. I really wanted to like that game, considering all the hype it had about a year ago. But is SUCKED IMO. Facades, invisible barriers, rediculous voice-overs, super-easy leveling...Empty towns. Boring as hell.
So, I'd say you should try Vanguard. AT LEAST it's a game world you can explore; not just a facade.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
The OP's account was created in '07 ...
Instead of going back to rehashed Themeparks, check-out Eve. While Eve may have not been my cup of tea per se, the game, imo, definitely had a more vibrant community and environment overall.

Dear fanboys:
Whenever a remotely negative post about your favorite game comes up, do us all a favor and fuck off. Seriously, there is no reason why a guy can ask for advice about a different game to play and get a thread nearly entirely consisting of replies of why the game he doesn't like is great.
To the OP:
If you're looking for a game with some decent roleplaying, I'd recommend FFXI.
Now with 57.3% more flames!

I like how your quote had nothing to do with what he said, but ok...
Every single game released has a truckload of these...they don't mean very much. When WoW was released, there were tons of these threads as well.
I think, at issue, in this post is the fact that it's not simply a EQ2 or VG question. It is "this game sucks, oh, and what about EQ2 or VG"
I really don't see the point of bashing one game as an introduction to a debate between two others.
I was in a similar situation, burned out on WoW and wanting an MMO fix. I initially tried EQ again, big mistake that MMO and community are the worst, they definitely have not aged well. Tried out EQ2, was decent but the world felt deserted and I just wasn't that big into another SOE product after being burned by them so many times.
I then went to LOTRO and almost immediately realized it was my new home. Especially with the deals they were offering on lifetime accounts or $9.95 monthly rates. LOTRO does start out a bit slow, but really picks up the further in game you get. Very few bugs. Very helpful community. Its an MMO that wont demand all of your time to succeed.
In addition the thought of progressing into battles in Mordor or the upcoming Mines of Moria have me very interested.
I think its the best MMO I've ever played, and I've tried almost all of theml.
first off you could of done without the insult to conan. Come on do you really want to get bash and start a huge arguement over it? anyways vanguard is the same old thing and everquest is old so i wouldnt play either of them.
