the game is bug-filled ... character stats dont work .... tooltips are undeveloped .... customer service is poor to non-existent .... talents are not described or don't do what they say .... combos make the game impossible for PvP melee classes .... basic game mechanics don't work .... every second room is an instance .... lack of high-level content .... no endgame .... crafting is a chore (when it works) .... there is NO economy ....
To OP Yup, there are bugs and glitches but overall the game plays fine and they are working on making it better. Personally I would rather play this as is - with intention of it getting better - than to go back to any MMO I have played ... except pre-cu SWG.
Your mentality is exactly what the corporate shills bank on. They know many people will pay for potential regardless of the pile of crap the company releases. Congrats! You've officially agreed to pay Funcom $180 for the next year to beta their game while they get it right. Get 250,000 like minded individuals, and now you have a company making $45,000,000 a year while their game is in beta. The company laughs all the way to the bank.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Well i agree there are bugs in game that should be fixed but in the end the bugs that are there dont make the game unplayable nor do they make it where you cant enjoy the game. And if we have anyone to blame for what a company can get away with look at Vanguard. They released and some how still kept a 90K player base even with the undeniable playablity in almost every PC. For at least 10months it was in this state. so thats 1.35 million they made over those months with 10 million at launch. And if people would of just protested and NOT PLAYED that pile (the peeps that kept there account active) developers would of known hey when you release unfinished work it doesnt get played. But you have the ingnorant people who feel hey one day this will be the awesome game that i want it to be (but in reality it wont) and keep playing. But if AoC is in this state i cant judge for myself. I havent ran into any bug that made this game to me feel bugged or unplayable. Only one time i felt that and that was in the field of bone one night but since then it hasnt happend again. So to each its own i guess. but dont get me wrong if i run into a bug that makes this game unplayable i will not just wait till it is i will protest just like the rest who are quiting on here cuz of the bugs they feel should be working.

Er you know, its my money and I can spend it how I chose. If you don't think AOC is up to your personal standards of quality, don't spend a dime on this game. I agree, it needs a lot of work, however none of the issues make a difference to me on whether I have fun in the game.
I chose to pay the $180 dollars (lol, like that's a back breaker) to have fun, and you chose not to. I'm not trying to meet your expectations nor do I care if the company is laughing at me (I know they aren't) as long as I am getting my expected value from the game.

Any close beta players out there that can give a comment about what the OP just said? Is the game also unfinish, eg. lack of content from 40 to 80, during beta? Did anyone of you inform funcom about this?
Did anyone of you urge funcom not to release the game too early when you know the state of the game and the release date?
If funcom listen to you guys about the combat system and changes it, i really wonder whats wrong if majority of you ask them to delay the launch...
So to all the close beta players pls give us some insight, thank you.
FFS......the problem is not the buggy game. IT IS THE LACK OF CONTENT THAT WAS PROMISED BY FUNCOM THAT WOULD BE THERE!!!!! and ppl keep saying that the graphics are nice and that they will patch the game.... plz buy my game too and i promise it will be patched soon, just pay me 70 euro on this bank account : fb34345332321231233.............FFS
Be a cold day in hell before I just send someone cash on an account that they can just reclaim, Id rather buy it right from the store. Keep in mind AOC is not the 1st game that has made promises not kept. They will patch and fix the issues if you just be patient, the game has only been out a few weeks, If it were longer like 6 months - 1 year then I would agree with you.

The op is pretty much right and we really didnt expect them to release it yet. I guess the financial departement won over the tehnical one, as it happens in alot of games sadly.
Dex, Str, Wisdom stats on gear have no effect. I mean come on? You release a game where the gear stats do NOTHING? How exactly do you "miss" something like this during 5 years of development? Here's another good one, you post something for sale at the trader, and cancel it when it does not sell, then find you can't sell it to the vendor. It no longer shows up in the list of items you can sell. You just have to delete them to get rid of them. Oh, and a number of items like rings for example, when placed for sale on the trader do not actually show up for sale. How exactly do you "miss" stuff like this? The answer is you don't. The game is simply not finished and Funcom expects us to pay them for the next year while they finish the game?
yeah, i thought the game was cool at first. unfortunately, i have already canceled my account. if they were making an effort to fix these things, it would be a different story, but most of it has been broken since day one.
It's a given that an mmo released will not be "completed" or perfect. People forget what games like WoW, Eq2 and others were like when they came out. Remember Horizons? Huh? Member that mess?
Seriously, WoW was horrible, long lines to get into the game, no battlegrounds, no pvp system and no Hero classes that were promised. Hell, Eq2 didn't have a working auction house, and no mailboxes for almost 6 months. And you want to act like this is something new??? Just thinking about it... that god damn loot bug in WoW lasted almost a year!
The problem is, that a lot of mmo'ers started their careers with WoW well after release and expect every game that comes out to be that polished. Trust me, it took the bliz and these other companies some time just to get their games off the ground. But now, Conan is being compared to games that have been out 3-4 years.
I'm currently playing, and enjoying the game a lot. You can say what you'd like about the game, as every opinion matters, but from what I'm seeing, a lot of detail was placed into the game. Give it some time my friend. The game hasn't even been out two weeks. If the game still sucks in a few months, then jump right back on the wagon.

Again... THE GAME HAS NOT EVEN BEEN OUT FOR 2 WEEKS!!!! LOL. You guys are acting like this is Vanguard, and a year down the road there are still major problems....lol. This really cracks me up. 2 weeks, that's it! I mean come on, if they haven't fixed everything in 2 weeks, they're not gonna!
ROFL. I'm glad you all left. Perhaps I will as well. But I will sure as hell give them more then two weeks.
Did you honestly believe the game was finished? I mean, did you?
I'm certain you must have heard some rumors of the game's state, and then come here and complain about it makes you look like an ass. I appologize if you honestly believed the game to be finished, even though I would like to criticize your vast naivity at the same time.

I'll take a game with some bugs that is still enjoyable that i can play for a least a few months, to a console game that more than likely I will complete in 3 weeks to a month.
If i'm having fun in the game i'll play it.
Funcom doesn't have access to unlimited sources of money...hell i'm not even sure if they got any money out of Anarchy Online if they want to charge me 15 bucks a month to play a game I find fun so they can use that money to make the game better (because a better game means more money for them), I don't see the problem with that.
Well i agree there are bugs in game that should be fixed but in the end the bugs that are there dont make the game unplayable nor do they make it where you cant enjoy the game. No I'm not canceling based on what someone else says, besides from what he believes most people play their game because they actually like it.
I just responded to goldknights post in what he really says.
He says don't support games that are not without faults at launch, exception of course being AoC, if he means what he says why would he be supporting AoC?

When is a any mmo every finished though. I already accept the fact when new mmorpg's are released, there are going to be problems from the get go, but I can live with it. I just got this problem where I have to be in a new release MMO on day 1.
What I can't understand is why people (knowing this) go and buy the game anyways, then bitch and complain and call it quits. Ok I can understand if you did'nt research the game and bought it on a whim. But we all here are pretty much experienced mmo players, we know there are going to be situtations that suck at launch day. People should just take the intiative and wait 3 to 6 months after launch.
exactly, honestly i was expecting it to be a lot worse than it has turned out to be, personally i think they've had a great launch.
Any close beta players out there that can give a comment about what the OP just said? Is the game also unfinish, eg. lack of content from 40 to 80, during beta? Than this is really a very sad stae that we are living in.... And i hate people saying this game is only 1 weeks old or 2 weeks old!! or when is an MMO ever finish??? We are talking about, not general bugs, but lack of content here from level 40 to 80 guys!!!
Funcom didnt even do anything for players from that level. So why not just have a level cap of 40? this is an un-completed game, not un-finish!
It is interesting that i havent noticed that gear didn't influence my character. Here i am figuring the blue stuff I looted or won from quests made me a little bit more powerful. That is a reward isnt it? Instead I got a slightly dmg output from a weapon.
I must say I cannot comprehend this fault.
It is interesting it took 2 weeks for someone to discover this. Must of had a good 2 weeks of gameplay.
So far we learned we will pay for a game every month if has at release:
- great graphics
- unique melee combat system
- mature content (boobs, blood and blasphemies)
- some PvP element - minigames and guild points, blood money ? PvP based gear?
- gear that has little impact on character development
- low customer service
- some bugged quests that are unable to be completed
- economy that has been delayed due to auction / bank issues
- basic User interface
- nice mounts with little utility unless used for collision detection ( a wall of mammoths might be interesting)
I will continue to play because I have invested 3 months of hope for imporvements. But after this last 5 hour patch , there was little done. ugh..
You don't need to wait and see with Halo, or C&C or a final fantasy. I've never had the problem with my PS2, XBOX, N64, sega or old NES. with the odd exception (yes, there were a few HORRIBLE games back then, that wern't ever finished) I never worried if a console game would be finished when I got it. but its not just consoles. when i get my RTS fix i never worry about a games state, I look at reviews and see how good it looks, and never see "half the stuff isn't working". /endrant
You are going to compare a SP game to an MMORPG?? LOL!
Comments
the game is bug-filled ...
character stats dont work ....
tooltips are undeveloped ....
customer service is poor to non-existent ....
talents are not described or don't do what they say ....
combos make the game impossible for PvP melee classes ....
basic game mechanics don't work ....
every second room is an instance ....
lack of high-level content ....
no endgame ....
crafting is a chore (when it works) ....
there is NO economy ....
BUT
the graphics look sweeeeeet

The op is pretty much right and we really didnt expect them to release it yet. I guess the financial departement won over the tehnical one, as it happens in alot of games sadly.
RIP Orc Choppa
But after this last 5 hour patch , there was little done. ugh..
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
You are going to compare a SP game to an MMORPG?? LOL!
wait, isn't AOC a single player game?
