lol I'm not spending $50 to just use the game as some kind of book end, played it quite a bit & my PC can handle it no problem. It's just boring, I wish I could wax poetic on all the reasons I don't like it but since I'm not playing it anymore it doesn't worry me too much. I hope you're enjoying yourself thou.
Let me paraphrase....You like the game and people who say negative stuff about it are stupid. Geeze, how insightful.
There is a post for people with ATI cards stickied on AOC's official tech forums that is over 500 posts long now. Many of these users have very nice computers so the game does not run great for everyone despite having a decent rig.
And you read a lot of books. Yeah. I read on average 1 to 2 novels a week for a few years while in college. That easily adds up to hundreds of books. I also wrote a book of poetry, self published and did the poetry circuit in town, and I am a realistic figurative sculptor. I have plenty of imagination. I still don't like the wagoneer.
Dispite the technical issue's people have in AoC i wonder why we see similair issue's with a game thats much older ....just saying........
So, you are driving down the road and a police officer pulls you over and says you were speeding. You say yeah, but everyone else was speeding too. And the cop says, yeah, but I pulled you over.
Point being, we are not discussing WOW, we are discussing AOC. You quote my thread but no where do I mention another game. Maybe you are implying I am naive and don't know that other games have bugs and problems. Well, I've been playing video games since the early 1980's. I have a little bit of experience gaming so stop being silly eh.
You might have been trying to say that inspite of WOW's apparent bugs it is still a success. Really I'm just guessing because I'm not sure what you are saying. But if that was your counter arguement I would point out Star Wars Galaxies, a game I loved but that launched buggy and had issues that were never resolved, ultiimately culminated in the NGE. So some games launch buggy, stay buggy, and get buggier and don't necessary transform into something desireable.
Why did you feel the need to post 3 seperate threads about the same thing? Sure, you can argue that there's so many other negative threads out there, but they're not all started by the same people.
Check out Elikal threads 6 in a few days all about the same thing. Then there is Zorndorf, who cant help put post the same thing on nearly everything thread in the AoC forums here.
Elikal naysays endlessly about every game he plays. He's a whiner through and through. I dont even bother to read anything he posts. Its always the same rehash of his original whining.
Being dense? BEING DENSE? Excuse me, I guess I am what you would call a "hater" but I say that anyone who thinks this is a complete game is dense. The game is really fun up until level 50, then it just becomes incredibly dull.
Originally posted by Prexix 1. Their computer can't play it well. My computer runs the game great. 2. Lack of content 40 to whatever. Yes, there is a huge lack of good quest to do, but it's more like the early 50's. 3. Instances. Thank the XBox 360 for this one. PC gaming is slowly dying because of consoles, they killed the last game I was really looking forward to (UT3). The graphics aren't that good that it requires instances. Except the water. The water is amazing in this game at max resolution. 4. Linear game. (I've only heard this a few times) How about extremely linear? You will be visiting all the same places, do all the same quests, no matter how many characters you make. There isn't enough content to just, for example, stay in Stygia until level 50. 5. Bad customer support. Bad is an understatement. It's the worst Jerry, the worst. Go read the official forums and see how many people are having CS issues. Newcomers to the forum.. wait it out to the buddy passes if you're unsure.. but do NOT pass up trying this game just because of the hyperly paranoid and completely dense criticisms here. The fact is, most people love this game but they're too busy playing it to visit these forums (except for me, of course). Yes of course, if we dislike the game in any way it's because we are "dense." You'll fit right in at the official AoC forums my friend.
Excellent post OP, but I think you need to realize what I realized... the haters are just here because they are so jaded that no game will ever appeal to them, so anything we say amounts to nothing.
Still, good post... too bad the trolls have the reading comprehension of first graders so I doubt they'll understand any of it. Have fun in game .

You're wrong, you know. I'm not even going to grace you with a reason why...doing so would imply that I thought you to be less intelligent than I actually do. I'm very certain that you understand why you are wrong, and that you are making such broad claims to defend a game you enjoy. It is prudent, though, to remember that the 'haters' are the ones causing Funcom to really step up their game and address these many issues so quickly. Were it NOT for them, and their 500000000 fury incited posts of doom, Funcom would assuredly be much slower in response because people like YOU sit idly by and simply accept crap.
Now go hug your local troll, and thank him for encouraging them to play like they are in the majors....because they ARE.
I havent played AoC yet, im interested but im playing 2 MMO's already so im not in a hurry and im waiting to see what ppl say about it before i buy.
I would like to know how much instanced it is. I mean is it instanced like EQ2 that u change instances basicaly from zone to zone or is it instanced like CoH that besides zones u have instances for every missions. I have to say i hate instances specialy like CoH that u can never interact with other ppl during your missions, i find that terrible.
You said that they are working to implement more and new content soon. Well does tht mean it really lacks high-end content at the moment?
About being liner, thats not so important but its good to have options, diferent paths to take. Specialy if u gonna build a new character, but as i said that is not very important and maybe they will implement more options in the future, the game is too fresh atm.
And about customer service, i have never seen a game ppl dont complain about customer service so im not really worried about that.
Now about ppl complaining about performance. For those i have to say games have always required good hardare. It was known that AoC would need a high-end computer specialy if u want to play at high resolution and graphics. So if u have a crap computer just dont even try or if do so dont complain about the game but about your machine that sucks.

I have to say i hate instances specialy like CoH that u can never interact with other ppl during your missions, i find that terrible. Instances, and some dungeons are zone based. Meaning, only you and your group will be the ones in the dungeon. You said that they are working to implement more and new content soon. Well does tht mean it really lacks high-end content at the moment? The game was fun for me until like level 50, then it just got boring quickly. Yes it does lack high level content, ask someone who is level 80 what he is doing right now. Crafting-broken. Sieging-nope. High level raids- Nope. Hell, items that add STRENGTH and AGILITY modifiers don't even do anything right now. The game is far from finished, we should have listened to all those closed-beta testers. Specialy if u gonna build a new character, but as i said that is not very important and maybe they will implement more options in the future, the game is too fresh atm. You will do the same quests with each character. Maybe not at the earlier levels from 1-35, but after that, you HAVE to do the same quests because there simply isn't enough of them to pick and choose. Again, due to the game not being done, And about customer service, i have never seen a game ppl dont complain about customer service so im not really worried about that. I will pray for you. I will pray that you never need help from a GM.

Supposeably if you factor in online transactions the PC gaming market is actually growing. The NPD is supposeably only counting box sales.
Page 75 of the July 08 of PC Gamer has a different theory going though. Don't know whether they were talking about each company a piece or together but it's supposed to be 8 billion dollars or so that was shelled out for developing those consoles. Concerning the XBox360 and PS3 I believe.
They were citing this from former Microsfot VP Sandy Duncan. They were involved with the Xbox.
The theory is this could be their "last stand". That there is danger of them dying out in 5-10 years. Whether that's true or not we'll have to see. (Not sure if I'm willing to believe it anyway but throws something for discussion anyway)

First, number one. This.. is completely irrelevant. Developers will continue to cater to low-end computers and some will cater to decent and high-end computers. That's a GOOD thing. There's something for everyone. Complaining about quality graphics games is like complaining developers are making games for someone other than just you. It's selfish.. and I really wish people would keep their posts on this topic to questions and tips and helping others meet req's instead of whining that FunCom didn't make their game specially just for your crappy computer.
Page 18 of the June 08 issue of PCGamer concerning the PC Gaming Alliance. This is from Roy Taylor Vice President of Content Relations from Nvidia.
"Of the top 50 selling games in 07 all 50 had a different minimum spec."
The rest, being my opinion, is if that is true I think that's crazy. Developers should have freedom but I mean come on. Aye the game is good looking though.

People will have to find a way to see it action if they don't want to throw money down. I was able to try it out on a family member's account and I've enjoyed it. The pros still outweight the cons so I'm in.
Bah! Quoting system...I'll add it here then. The ATI possibility is also about the clock not going past 300Mhz for some. Not detecting a 3d app properly.
you cant call a person a hater because they dont like the game. I personally like it, but i know alot of people who would not like it, doesn't mean its a bad game, unfinished, yes, but still an awesome foundation for a great game.
I agree with much of what the OP had to say and wanted to add that Funcom now states on your loading screen that they will be adding more content for lvl 50+ mostly soon/summer and lvl 30+..relating to topic.
loving the game, there is so much to do! Preparing at the moment in building our T1 guild city, that in itself is cool and we are only lvl 20 to 50 something, not even close to end game content.
The amount of bashing on these forums are depressing, so good job OP.
I have been one of very unsatisfied players at the beginning because I was able to play only on low (=ugly) settings to have remotely acceptable fps. And my computer exceeds recommended settings, is few months old. My fps at high was only from 3 to 4 fps! Unplayable in other words.
But with me, the only problem was that damn graphics card! I had ATI Radeon HD 2400 pro with 256mb. Still this card exceeded minimum settings. But there are 256mb graphics cards and there are .... 256mb graphics cards. One are good enough for pure business use … but for gaming this is completely different story. And for sure my graphics card was not meant for playing games (but I did not have any problems playing wow on highest settings, but this is another story).
I wanted so badly to play AoC that after few days reading forums I went to shop and purchased Bliss 9600GT (actually ... nVidia) and I have now with SAME good computer from 30 to 50 fps!!! Graphics card changed the whole world!
Btw … about games too “heavy” to run on “yesterday” (not to mention “before-before-before yesterday”) computers …. If every company would care only about this then we would still play today I guess only on Spectrums or Commodores 64. J
It looks every game is condemned to have very aggressive haters and aggressive lovers. No different with WOW which I love (and can’t wait to get Lich king) but I do not hate any other game, will just dump one that does not meet my expectations.
Ok, there are problems with this game, things I do not like .... but I have posted this in other treads.
For now I'm satisfied with AoC and I agree mostly with original poster.
Only time will show how majority of population will accept it. And this is important. One can make the best game in the world … but game can not live only from few lovers …. Wide population must accept it. If there will be enough money from this … developers will be able invest more in future.
And for now I do not see why this should not happen with AoC.
Let me paraphrase....You like the game and people who say negative stuff about it are stupid. Geeze, how insightful.
No mam. Read the title. I said most of the haters are BEING dense. If you spent more time comprehending and less time being hypersensitive you'd understand that that statement is a reflection of their arguments or lack thereof.
