Real Reason People Don't Like AoC?

What's wrong with AoC? It's TSOC.... The.Same.Old.Crap that we continue to buy again and again. You log into health bars and buttons, go on a linear Kill 10 Bunny quests in an instanced, psuedo-single player world until you run out of them, then cancel your account. Stop buying EQ clones people, it's the only reason they're still making crap like this. These games are nothing more than wateredown single player adventure games with chat boxes.

Still looking for a replacement for Asherons Call. Now that was a good game, this AOC I am sorry is just a 1 player game with FPS multiplayer capabilities. I mean they took any RPG you used to play by yourself and linked it with a program like xfire(chat system) then gave you a quick way to enter into multiplayer games like Counterstrike by leaving the instances. I can not say how much I dispise this game.

And..... Does that say this week or "TOTAL"....exactly. That was like a year ago kid I stopped playing that trash after about 3 months.
I bought the game and got to level 60. You can realize the game's potential, or lack of, way before that.

EverQuest had MEANINGFUL quests. They were challenging, didn't tell you exactly where to go, they were not NECESSARY to level(meaning no massive amounts of exp for them) and you didn't know who had a quest unless you talked to NPCs. The kill 10 bunnies quests came in because of WoW, and now we all suffer.

well I hate to break it to you kid but this game rocks face.
I happily turned down the graphics to make it run smooth 60-90fps , the game play is simply amazing once you get good.
23 keys are needed + mouse to fight.
And you gotta push em in the right combo or ur screwed. And no I dont just mash 123 cause I dont do any damage mashing .
Simple minded people like simple minded games. I'm glad your having fun paying to beta test the game for the Xbox 360.

If you believe in a social game, don't buy AoC. The chat interface is the worse in the business.
If you want any PVE, don't buy the game. The only area that has been developed is the starting area.
If you want multitude of different Character Classes to PVP in, don't buy the game. Only 3 or 4 Classes have any chance.
If you are looking for Customer service, don't buy the game. Usually it takes 3 days to get a GM response.
AoC is a very pretty game, with no soul.
I fully recommend waiting for Warhammer.

Exactly why i cancelled my AoC account. I love the combat, graphics, and a lot of old guildies play it, but i dont think i'll stick to it, not at least now.
Impressive, it only took 1 response to mention WoW.
I am starting to loose hope that one day we will see yet another MMO with the depth and player inter-dependancy SWG once had...

I am having as much fun in Age of Conan as I have had in any of the other EQ-Clones that have come out in the last 9 years... but it isn't Asheron's Call, it is just another EQ-clone like wow.
Each and every game that comes out I am stunned at how it is so monumentally damaged by EQ-style hollowness. This isn't to say that AoC is a bad game, it has held my attention for longer than WoW, DAoC, LotRO or Tabula Rasa did. I played each of those EQ-clones for a few months but didn't enjoy them as much as I am enjoying AoC...

I am finding it amusing though that people not liking this game are still giving it publicity, it may not be good publicity, but what they say will have other curious players wanting to find out if it truly does suck or if that the poster is just a plain hater or out of their god damn mind.
So those new AoC players go out and buy it as well and either turn to fans or haters.
The only bad publicity, is no publicity at all.

I'm personally over level based MMO's. The point of levels is to keep players around for monthly payments, not for player fun. Why grind levels? Why not do what you enjoy and get better what you actually are doing, rather then grind... Age of Conan does nothing new, the combat is click a lot and wait rather then simply click and wait... There is hardly anything new about it, if anything the combat is even more tedious then before. Age of Conan may be one of the most beautiful games ever made, that doesn't make it evolutionary in any way. Lets see of list of "next gen" features that Age of Conan has, its non-existent.

Whats SWG?!?! How about old style UO? Im sorry but that was the macdaddy of a true open world do what you want game with no levels or quests. You simply logged in and....did what u wanted! You could be a warrior that healed...or used magic...or made pants...or made barrels...or you get my point. You did what you wanted. Sure you want to kill other people that is fine, show your face in town and u get a$$ raped by guards...and just as likely other people...steal and get caught...you were likely dog food to the righteous! Houses dotting the game world. It was truely and amazing feeling getting on the game everytime. O and how about if you didnt like how your character was, well why make a new one with diff class structure? No just go train a diff. skill, really were almost unlimited combinations! I play AoC and yep i enjoy the game, but i cant shake the feeling that i want to get on a game and not be told what to do next.
You do realize there is no real complexity in games right?
The fact you may think you have deeper thoughs than someone that plays a game you dont like dont show you are a deeper person, it only show you are arrogant and probably shallow.
See, if we were talking about Titus Andronicus or Der Ring des Nibelungen I would understand, but we are talking about games.
There is no complexity in MMOs, there is expression, entertainment, fun factor, and just a little bit of art, and really, if you are feeling better about yourself based on the games you like, you are just delusional.

Im sorry but you do realise how much time, effort, manpower, creative thought, complex mathematics, and artistic design go into a games creation? Im not knocking the great literary works of the world, but damn dude!! How erronious it is to belittle another persons great life/artistic achievement!
Who are you to say that the creators of AoC are any less talented then shakespear, plato, newton? The amount of time, effort, money and sheer talent that creates these games is staggering! I truely am sorry for the attack! There are few things i cannot stand, but when one tries to belittle or degrade ones efforts to create and express i find that the person doing so is the one truely lacking.
I see no issues with the chat interface. Never had a problem communicating with who I want to communicate with. To say it's "worst ever" is plain ridiculas.
PVE has been a blast. They are about to add content for that range of level you refer, again you overplay any issue. There is plenty of content to do other then quests. Games arn't just about nonstop quests. This game just came out, it's not perfect, they have been patching constantly and made a good post this week with their plans. I will make a post of this for those who missed it.
to say 3-4 classes are the "only chance" you got in PVP shows me (no offense) you might not understand how to play all the classes. I have seen people cry EVERY class at different times is overpowered since I been on that game. Every class has skill trees so 2 people of the same class can play totally different. It's not a "simple minded" system people claim it is. It's the old "Easy to LEARN, hard to MASTER". EVERY class can be effective for PVP. Especially max level. I admit some classes like rangers seem overpowered AT LOW LEVEL, but there is much better balance at max level. Also keep in mind some are better for certain specific situations (big battles, sneaky gank ex...).
Customer service is swamped with racing to patch every issue people have been pointing out. THE GAME JUST RELEASED. Have some freakin patience. They also JUST STATED they recently hired a bunch more for that service, so this issue is again a non issue for the longevity of the game.
No soul? It's Conan! Are you kidding me? The world is simply stunning if you like realistic style gaming. This game honestly won me over from being quite a skeptic myself.
Warhammer? I really want to like that game but the graphics I see are
I will however give Warhammer a try when I am able so I don't want to get caught up in a game not released. Conan for one is much more realistic in it's graphics, and the combat with collision detection is very nice. Conans combat is lots of fun.
Again read my past posts, I was VERY skeptical of AOC. AOC is not perfect. Yea they could have used another month before releasing, but it's not a bad release. Not quite as polished as LOTRO, but alot more involving and classes are more complicated. PVP is a blast.
Sounds to me your trying really hard to totally hate AOC and make others hate it with all these overexadrated points you claim. I am very critical on games being a gamer for as long as I have. Read my past posts. I am no fanboi.
Gladly would get into some things I would want changed in AOC but from what Funcom is reporting on their plan they deal with alot.
