actually Vanguard does have alot more content the AOC. alot more working content on top of that. most of the content for AOC is borked in one form or another, or not even in game yet.  just cause AOC has 80 levels and Vanguard 50 does not mean more content. just more grinding for aoc.

Oh really? Vanguard was so content starved when it came out that you had to travel across the world just to find enough quests(and even then you didn't have enough and had to repeat the repeatable ones), while in this game you have so many quests that it's nearly impossible to do them all before outleveling them. Remember the missive grinds? I do. Unless SoE added 400% more quests, there is no way in hell Vanguard has more content. If by content you mean empty structures and stretches of land without anything, then sure it has more content.

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

I ran out of quests in 10 days playing AOC. I didn't run out of quests in Vanguard in 10 days. And the crafting in Vanguard was much deeper and actual worked, and I sold a ton of stuff.  The crafting in AOC is broken and useless.

Bought it, Installed it, Played it, Uninstalled it, Gave it away.

Heres my judgment: Some may like it, others may not. As for me, I hated it.

Those 50$ could have been used for much better things....like - lighting a fire !

     was in the beta

And then, canceled my preorder. Tried it, played it.  the only thing i'm going to buy : the music, on ITunes. Music is really GREAT.

Well buy it and play it , this is a great game and funcom is going to make it even better.

In six months this is going to be perfect.

Oh yes u can always go back and spend countless hours in the arena or farming karahzan , yeah that would be lot's of fun (what a waste of time)

I bet half the hater population on these forums and they are a lot , are currently playing the game whining or spamming the ooc channel with wow chat.

if you never try, then you never know, play the game before you judge, what other alternative do you have? lord of the rings online? world of warcraft? no thanks..

dont get fooled and throw away your cash ever just to judge it yourself.

thats how companies make money from hype and not from quality and thats why the MMO standards get lower and lower.

LoTR ? yes its better then AOC

WoW? yes its better then AOC

Everquest2? yes its better then AOC

hell even Vanguard now is better then AOC.

... You can't be serious? .... You are...

How much are they paying you?

I've learned to really ignore posts on these forums and read reviews on more popular game sites that are based on CONSUMER ratings. Seriously, look at WoW's rating: It's lower than FFXI's. That should tell anybody that the majority of people that post/rate are being paid by the companies, although that argument could be applied to AoC's current top rating at 8.6 (which is dropping).

I am personally enjoying the game, but I won't write a review until I've hit 80 and experienced most of it's content. My honest opinion is that the game trumps most of the other MMO's IF AND ONLY IF you have the computer to run it adequately. Comparing Vanguard and AoC, however, is nothing short of nonsense given that AoC has MUCH MORE content than Vanguard does now after all of SOE's contributions.

AoC has more content than Vanguard???  Who the hell is paying you to say that??  I now know why open beta wasn't allowed to go past level 13.  I got to level 40 in release, decided to do some crafting to let some friends catch up.  AoC crafting is one of the biggest jokes I have seen  in all the mmo's I have played and I've played almost everyone on the market.  I made no attempt to go past level 40 because of all the negative post about no content past level 50.  Sure, eventually it will have this content.. but I wouldn't buy it now.

If they get the buddy system up before my sub runs out, I will gladly give up as many keys as I can.. but unless you just have $50 to blow I would recommend waiting.

This whole AOC is better, no WAR is better is funny. If i like WAR way better doesn t make it better for you. Oh well such is life i guess.

Wow, ok...it seems I am the only person not in the War Beta around...been playing the tabletop version for years and I'm still patiently waiting for a spot that might never come...I really hope I can grab a spot before release and test out the game

I wish somebody were paying me to say that. There are more quests in Tortage+Tesso than the other starting areas in VG combined (i.e. Dahknarg + Veskal's).  I haven't tried crafting in AoC yet and probably won't, because I generally hate it (in WoW, VG, EQ2 etc.). Are you seriously saying that VG crafting is better? That was one of the hugest grindfests in any game to date, although the items did have some use... not to mention that it was a watered down version of EQ2's.

I couldn't get past 30 in VG, because the quests ran dry, so I really don't understand how you can rag on AoC..

Hehe... I would have to ask you the same question.. must be just something about the two games that make us have different opinions.  Everything you described about VG is exactly what I found wrong with AoC and I feel exact opposite about VG.  It definately had problems from the beginning, but I found myself overwhelmed with so many quest.  Leveling is so fast in AoC and I was running out of quest at my level around 40 that I went back to do quest that were already grey to me just to have something to do.  As for crafting... VG has one of the best IMO.  EQ2 was just too much.  Crafted items in AoC have no purpose.. you can find much better from drops.  I'm sure they will make it somewhat better, but harvesting is just plain idiotic unless you like standing in line to harvest.  Each node only produces at max 10 resources and a slow respawn rate.  Very few nodes are in the areas where you quest.  Just give it a try, you'll see what I mean.  I do have all the nodes tagged in Poitan if you want the xml file so you don't have to find them all. :)

I don't have to have played the game to come to a negative conclusion, or understand how bad the game is IMO!  Thats just dumb to waste money knowing its all for naught.  The way I see it, the negatives outweigh the postives a thousand-fold regardless of if the people enjoying it are here posting or not!

    I totally agree.

I've been reading forums about AOC to help me decide if I should buy it or not. What I have concluded is that it would be best to wait, because there is so much more cons to the game than pros. Many things wrong with it are gamebreakers for me, and I can't see why I would buy it.

I don't understand how some people think that a game must be played to know if you will actually enjoy it or not. This is a ridiculous stance and you people are the reason MMO's suck at release.  "How do you know if you don't try it?" Because I'm not a fool, goodday.

There is nothing wrong with forumulating opinion beforehand. I do the same, but such decisions are made easier from those who have actually played the game when weighing things up. unlike mis-informed chinese whisper posts that Khrymson likes to make.

i like to take opinions from players who have a little mileage behind them in game time.

I cherry picked the opinions that seemed the most logical and from people who "supposedly" played the game, and I came to my decision that way. If I had a chance to try the game out without spending $50 than I would.

Well I just took over my friends account which still has some time on it, so I plan on giving it a fair shot. Just finished installing it (after threatening to destroy the first disc because it kept erroring when installing the Intro file (which he said to just click ignore and it will finish installing, which it did) so now I am just patching.

I figured what the hell, not like I'm paying for it nor am I playing anything currently. It will give me something to do when the kid is sleeping.

There are 3 types of people in the world.

3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Personally I would say that the best thing that AoC did was the pre-order headstart.  Having access to the game fully for 10 days for all of 5 bucks, not having to buy the box or pay a sub or anything was perfect.  I was able to get in game and in those 10 days level up to 50 or 51 and see what the game had to offer.

Having seen how few quests there are post 40, how small the zones actually are (they feel larger for a while due to the constant back and forth, but in reality they are not all that big overall), and the absolutely abysmal crafting and resource system I was able to decide that AoC just is not the game for me.....with only $5 cost to myself.

Somehow I doubt devs down the line will offer a similar option as I am sure they'd have liked that extra 50 bucks from me.....one can only hope though.
