I've been playing steadily but let my sub run dry for a month so I could switch back to play City of Heroes a bit. Getting tired of CoH already, and I come here and see this. My EQ2 account ran out on June 6, so of course the game tells me I have no account. I look on SOE's account info page and it shows 54 days like for everyone else, but the account is Pending. It seems you had to be unsubscribed exactly on April 30th to get the free time. Long time players are indeed screwed over. I was going to re-up until I saw all this and realized I might get some free time, and now that I see I'm omitted due to bueacracy I'm thinking I won't re-up at all.
I haven't played in about a year and a half, had a 36 templar, but sucked for solo. Whats a good solo class to try out this time ? Also: Sweet ass deal.
I’d try an Inquisitor (templars evil counterpart). Go with a melee AA spec and they solo extremely well. Another good choice is a Warden, again with a melee AA spec. They are cheaper to equip plus they have run buffs and portals. They are more common though, so are not quite as desired for endgame.

If you patched with an existing account I think you have downloaded everything, else check under the configuration on the launcher.
Currently playing a new dragonmanthingy Berserker with my gf playing a necro of the same race, thanks to this deal. This game is awesome for doing as a duo!

So I took the bait and "re-installed" [downloaded] EQ2. I just couldn't get back into the game for some reason... [at least not on my lvl 42 assassin]. The game has changed so much since 2006...
I did fire up a new toon - human pally - and took him for a spin around the starter isle - very slow combat from what I'm use to in other MMO's [DDO, DnD online, LOTRO, WoW, etc].
The game definitely is showing it's age with the "lack of detail" environments and small cities [separated by zones]...

Although I haven't seen AoC yet, but from what I hear that's a unfinished bug riddled piece of crap, so oh well.

While I disagree with your tone, I have to agree with your overall message. EQ2 is currently providing me the most fun, and I've played every commercial MMO (fantasy-based).
It's cool they did this, thou I am just ringing in to say it was the best and to me still looks to be the best graphically and fun MMO out there, I just don't have time to play one right now, but I hit the forums here to see whats going on. I have to agree, no matter what the anti-fanbots of SOE say, EQ2 is still probably one of the best MMO's out there graphically and content wise. I should have gone back actually, just never could find a good guild, well a guild of old farts like me haha!

EDIT: ok so I am horrible, even with no time to play I have downloaded the new content after installing the original disk and so far it is wayyy better then I remember it. I probably will sub after the end of july.

Baren world? i see a lot of people running around all the time. Maybe you need to burn your computer. I think its not worth playing even a 4 year old game on decent settings. You are right EQ2 engine is outdated. Picture below is proof to that.. hahahah....
I thought this was somekind of error in my account, but seems that we really got the 60days of free time which is great news. I wanted to give the game for another spin but Im getting this one problem. I'm downloading the game through Sony Launcher and while downloading EQ2 im getting somekind of ''decompressing'' problems which doesnt make any sense to me. Any ideas? I hope you guys are enjoying EQ2 already
EDIT: Got one question. Are all the expansions included if I resubsribe for the game?

When I got everything back up I deleted all my old characters.
There's so many classes that I wanted to use this free playtime to experience them.
I level 10 classes to around level 8 or 10 then setteled on a Necromancer. Currently flying through levels.
