    Seriously funny!

So far we have no reason to suspect Mythic of being dishonest with us..  it is still possible, but looking highly unlikely.  The OP is right, when companies are trying to screw us they tend to close up and keep stuff secret.

WAR is going to have an open beta (with no NDA)..  I assume it wont be to limited parts of the game as with AoC..

We have every reason to be positive about this game at this current time.

Well...to be honest ...all game companies are businesses,  and most business owners I know...are in it for the cash that can be made, and also to make back money that was invested to create the product in the first place.

Games cost millions these days to make.......so if they want to get rich ..I can't blame them one bit. :)

I don't blame them either. I think they are doing great. There is a lot of money and risk involved. But lets not be naive. They want to be the next WOW, they want the money. Nothing wrong about it, I wish I could be rich too.

Bah, "the next WoW" phrase is so over used now a days with MMO's. I like to think WAR wants to be the next Tickle Me Elmo

Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.

Yes you are right.  The player will atleast know what they are getting, you know what I mean?  It's not like you can complain that you had no idea the game would be instanced or something like that because they show their deck before release.  It sucks to get hit out of the blue such as TB or VSoH.  Atleast here we know what we are getting.

I have never used it with another MMO. I think WAR has the right features, timing and company to be next WOW. Never happened before with another MMO.

Now if we could have some official forums i'd be thrilled.

I'm leaning more to not having official forums because I believe they just become fetid cesspools of complaints, whines and people who don't even play the game (ever or anymore) going in and complaining and stirring the pot just for the sake of stirring the pot.

As long as they have the WAR Herald where I can send in my feedback regarding various things I may find problematic or need help with then I'm all good.  I can always come here or go to the VN Boards for that sort of stuff like I did when I played Mythic's  other game Dark Age of Camelot.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

Okay, perhaps not official forums. The whining does get old.

I would like to have some sort of official daily communication though. Perhaps not  every day, but  definitely more often than weekly or monthly.

I hate the wow forums, and I really hate how folks have to BEG for a blue confirmation. A submission style Q and A would be really nice actually.

EA/Mythic has been VERY forthcoming about annoucements, and I love them for that. I just hate hearing about things here first, or on other *ahem* less legal sources.

While I do agree that WAR's open beta will probably be better than that of AoC, here's something that came from the latest Games Day (Baltimore):

    - Open beta will offer players a lot of “free reign” but may not open up the entire game to play.

Nevertheless, I still think WAR will do fine simply because they seem so confident about their game.

Hmm.. I'd like to know exactly how much will be closed..   im guessing it will be the full range of instances and sub-quests so the solutions arent available prior to release..  but who knows?

Mythic will have an Open Beta. All that means is a little more freedom and no NDA. They will still do semi-focused testing right up until launch, which shows they're interested in testing, not PR.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

The devs for Warhammer are great. Sure they want to make money, but they also want to make a game that people will love, and want to pay for. They will take all the time they need to reach this goal. They listen to the community and their beta testers. Mythic will set the new standard of mmo's when this game is ready. They truly are hard workers.

Yeah, unlike fansites and peripheral forums like these, right?

They don't always make the decision that makes the most people happy, and often times for major changes they poll the community to get their take on it.  (ML changes for DAoC for example)
They are generally one of the most community friendly companies I have ever delt with. They get the community involved as they don't just think it is their game to do as they see fit, they value the communities input.
This is even post EA. EA currently just seems to be a wallet right now, and letting them do as they have done in the past.

First off, I support Mythic and WAR, and I agree that with DaoC I honestly felt that they did care for their players. But, the changes they made to DAoC over the last year was without the popular consent of their players. Some examples are the complete changes to the UI and changes to the classes.  These "changes" got a lot of people wondering what the heck they would do in WAR.  Mythic loves to swing the nerf bat on a regular basis. They made a ton of broken and incomplete patches to the game. The UI patch took at least three patches before they fixed what they screwed up.

Hey I think we can all agree on one thing. As long as there not taking customer support personel from blizzard, then we should all be thankful. (Shudders thinking about WoW and it's awesome Game Masters)

I actually liked going to the vn boards simply because the team leads for the various classes and even the developers came there on a fairly even basis.  WoW boards on the other hand were a place not so welcoming in my opinion.  As unfair as the mods might  have been sometimes at least they maintained some semblance of order.  Just thinking about going to the wow boards makes me cringe.

I like the way the herald for both DAoC and WAR is set up.  It is a portal where you can go and use the forms to voice your concerns without having to go back and deal with all the flames or all the bullshit.  I'm not saying the peripheral forums are the be all and the end all just like official forums.  I think everything has it's place so we'll just have to wait and see.
