Everywhere I go I see nothing but AoC players saying that the game sucks, even on the official AoC forums over 50% of the posts are against the game. All I can say is, I hope you learned a lesson.
You promised us Shadowbane 2, but gave us WoW 2. Now enjoy your just deserts.

Man dont you dare to compare a crap game like aoc with wow, wow is big, has content, beautifull animations and chars..and its fun and addictive...
Thats why there are people playing wow for 3 years almost every day of theier lifes...it must be fun and with loads of stuff to do...some people dont like it..but 62% of all mmo market players like it...so dont even compare it to aoc.

Of course they didn't learn their lesson....go look at their history of AO from launch and beyond! Its much of the same BS all over again.

I think that the main problem is that Funcom announced a revolutionary MMORPG and they launched a nice combat system with one of the worst online worlds ever: little, bugged, repetitive, boring...
So the game-play itself is nice, but the game itself and the world they have created really sucks.

Targeted the wrong crowd; ; look at the wii's success. If they focus on getting new players to the scene then you'll have greater profts since whose people don't have some goldly game in mind. Not only do they have that in mind but they'll try to destory a game through rumors and lies so it would fail. I think you are going to start seeing a shift in gaming. I hope you enjoy playing wii fit.

uhm..what lesson is there to be learned? The game is the top selling PC game, a few days ago they had to close down character creation on an European server because it became to populated.

heh while I appreciate your analogy; it is all wrong. WoW is about 45 times better than AoC. Not a big WoW fan here, but you cannot even begin to compare WoW to AoC. WoW is higher than AoC on so many different levels.
You could have compared it to Horizons or Shadowbane. But comparing it to the world's most successful MMO as being a game that sucks is poor judgement (and hindsight)

Ya would be interesting to get a trully accurate idea of subs right now, not talking about box sales - current and active subs. I hear wildly differant stories, but FC have never released figures, even on AO, so its not likely.
btw playing the game, lvling 70 tos atm, and a slightly lower conq, good game.
the main reason for player angst is Funcoms tendancy to tweak things, rather than fix things, and causing 2 more problems for every patch they release, that and the lack of communication and content for lvl 80's.
off course ppl say they shouldnt bother wtih class balancing and fix the real issues, for everyone one of those theirs 10 players want this nerf done and that buff done etc...so its a horrible job and im glad its funcoms and not mine

I'm mainly talking gameplay style. The devs all throughout development talked about how they used to play Shadowbane and loved it's concept and were gonna make AoC the next big holy grail of seige-based REAL pvp, then for some damn reason they said "SCREW IT LOLOL!" and ploped down on our laps some damn generic endless gear and level PVE treadmill like wow.

Aoc failed
it promised a lot
then they failed at designing gameplay
they failed at favoring mutliplayer over soloplayer
they failed at testing what they coded
they succeded at making tortage a funny one player experience
they succeded at making beautiful graphics animation and stuff
they succeeded at making everybody believe eye candy is all that matters for a week and no 70 % of the player base did not pay for anything after included month. We were 8 long time friends starting Aoc together last month there is just 2 of them carrying on playing they are rerolling a caster because the horrible combat system made them unable to play pvp with a melee but the other 6 of us just bdropped this crap of a game since it failed on so many aspect it would require a wall of text to cover it up.
I still feel 50 Bucks was way to much for what they ahd to offer and i am going to put they sloppyness on display everywhere i can until i feel better.
There is not going to be any buddy or free trial program anytime soon, everybody who can try the game for more than a week for free will never buy it afterwards, this is also the reason why they di not want to do a real open beta and did in fact a paying parallel limited closed beta limiting the game scope so people wouldn t notice it sucks.
This game could become good with a year of development, until then it is not worth a nickel,

if you like bg buy wow
if you like instanced pvp and casual play buy guildwars
if you like gvg and large open free pvp buy eve.
if you like pve buy wow or eqII
if you like crafting buy eve
if you like siege warfare buy lineageII

what do you mean "from behind"? are u saying aoc is something like coming from another place, "under table" sort of or different? it's not their first mmo u know, funcom... some people need to learn to express theirselves properly
It is funny, between lot of unrealistic criticism and agressive defenses, this was the only rational post.

i could explain the reasons why this game is great in an actual civilized manor, but after having to bash some sense into idiot after idiot it really gets tiring and thats when you get spam post about how moronic and annoying these so-called critics are. no it doesnt help the cycle, but damn theres just way too many stubborn people who think they know everything.
Oh, come on... Wow do have big content but it is 4 years older... and the "Beutifull animations and chars"? are really outdated, Guildwars released 2 months later and are a lot better than that. Wow was a good game 2004, but it is aging fast now. If you think a character from Wow looks better than one from AoC you need to have youre eyes checked.
Yes, AoC needs a lot of work to become a really good game but it isn't crap. It have a big potential.
And I know people who listens to RNB every day for the last 3 years and RNB still is crap so that argument is stupid. Some people smokes pot every day too, does that makes it good? It sure is addictive and probably fun too

Well if by desert you mean Stygia then ok, otherwise it seems servers get more full by each day.

He means AOC shafted the fanbase so to say ... and I agree 100% they failed to deliver on all fronts barring prettyness.... But sadly graphics don't make a game.
