Well if you post troll posts, shows your credibility then doesn't it... edit: yea i dont need credibility, its pretty much fact that funcom fooled the lot of you through very skilled marketing and the game was not ready for release and is just another clone of the mmo template, but a bad one. its not just me saying it, its basically everyone. . I'm not rushing it like some people are, and taking my time to do other things in life than play MMO's and trollpost in forums... As for loading screens, get a decent rig. With my 10k RPM hardisc, the loading screens are not a problem, so upgrade your gear.

but im glad to see others in this thread also saved the money and didn't get suckered by funcom's hype machine.
what im not glad to see is all the people in this thread who are trying to force themselves to make an excuse for a failed game.
Its how they operate every AoC fanboi on this forum always attacks the OP or other posters if they smear the game and speak the truth without making any valid points to why the games good themselves, or why its worth paying for.
I payed out for my copy, sucked in by the hype and open beta, after a week relised how awful it was and jumped ship. Luckily I sold my account and game for more than double that I payed for it. Now you cant even give an account away there worthless.
I don't buy any MMO at release. I wait at least 3 months. Then I add about 1 month per piece of major hype. So I wasn't intending to do anything with AoC until at least 1 or 2 years at least without a trial.
But then it became obvious that half the hype was flat out lies so that = never buying anything made by Funcom.
Haven't visited the site in awhile, not since right before AoC launched. Last i remembered was a lot of AoC fanbois boasting about the game and giving arguments like: "It's only beta! the lag and glitches and bugs are obv not gonna be in release its a diff client!" "its only beta! all this talk about the game not being finished and having no content in the upper levels is just doomsayers" "funcom isnt doin anything sneaky by capping the public beta, its just marketing lol1!lol" so since i have common sense, i avoided AoC like the plague and saved myself some $$$ because it was obvious this game was just unoriginal and was nothing but hype from day one. basically from what ive read and heard from friends who always buy the newest mmo was that the $50 or whatever would have been better spent if i hired a midget to punch me in the balls all day oh and with some irony, those same fanbois back then would bash WAR and Darkfall at every chance...of course darkfall verdict is still out but there is definite signs of life (but to be honest any sane person can read the info out there and know its a real game and is comming out, how good it will be is another story). And WAR would have to fail miserably to be worse than AoC. And now i am remembering why i stopped checking out this forum... Sheep. I see a lot of them around here....
I can honestly say i saved money too. I got AoC and have been having a blast. Granted I'm a casual player, not one racing to level 80.
AoC cost me $39.99, and of course the $15.00 monthly after first month. This is for say maybe 20 hours of fun a week. (Like i said fairly casual) In comparison a movie for me and my girlfriend is well over $20.00's for just 2 hours. Saw Hancock this week i would have much rather been playing AoC. I enjoy the graphics, and the combat. but thats my opinion.
You on the other hand funnily enough came to a board you state you don't frequent to bash a game you haven't played. Funny you should mention sheep as you formed your own opinion off of nothing more then random hate threads/posts from strangers. Yup no herd mentallity there. I might have given your post some credit if you maybe had at least tried the game via the free buddy pass, or beta, or something, but as it is just seems like another sheep posting about something he's never tried.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on a number of things here winter.
First, if the OP is bashing AoC, it's more of an indirect attack because the point of his post is that he saved money (although bragging about it is a bit tactless.) At this point, he's merely highlighting things that most people are aware of (the extremely buggy nature and lack of content in the game).
Second, smart/frugal consumers gather information before making a purchase. Fools and rich people piss money away -- the difference is that the rich people shrug if they don't like the purchase while fools complain. In the case of AoC, there was so much hype (from both sides) that it was hard to discern the wheat from the chaff. You talk about not forming an opinion without trying the game -- the op has had numerous reviews from magazines as well as the opinions of trusted friends that validated his suspicions. If several people tell you the stove is hot, are you still going to place your hand on it? That's not herd mentality, that's due diligence and in his eyes, well worth the money saved.
It's wonderful that you enjoy the game, whether you purchased it blindly or out of extreme faith that Funcom would pull it off but don't knock people for making evaluations based on what is now a tremendous amount of information regarding the state of the game. Paying 39.99+ for a trial is unreasonable and given there's no buddy pass yet nor was the beta truly representative of the game, you're left with little reason to bash the op (other than for not having the decency to hold his tongue while other people clearly feel burned -- no one likes an "I told you so").

And yes, I understand that it is hypocritical for me to comment on his post, but it's the inter-tubes and I'm feeling frisky... And I'm not a fanboi; I still play EQ2, LotRO, WoW and your mom.
I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

haha...Its the same in every freaking new mmo game. Haters and fanbois go head to head in some random forum to fling insults and loose arguments at eachother.
Lets instead look at the facts.
- DX10 promised before launch. Still lacking.
- From what I read from the 80 crowd, endgame is severly lacking.
- Castles are just fluff now. Dont mean squat in pvp.
- Sieges are lag fests, poorly implemented.
- Lots of armor sets promised at lauch still not ingame.
- They are beginning to self-cencor themselfes. Mature content is slowly dwindling away, with patch notes saying nothing about it. I suspect the mature thing was just there to draw in some more sales. Face it, you say your game got titties, you double your sales already there
- In fact, this is AO all over again, allthough not quite as buggy.
Funcom always been like this. I've been an AO player for years, and saw the incredible bad start that game had. AoC gives me some serious deja-vu's all over the place. AO is playable nowadays, but they needed a few years developing the game before it was playable. Still got issues but its overall a steady game now. I suspect AoC will be the same.
Funcom need time to finish the game, as they released it premature. The fanbois wont see this, and the haters love to pick on it. Me, I'm neither. I just dont like Funcom and especially dont like Gaute Godager. That idiot almost ruined AO.

You lost me at "haha...Its the same in every freaking new mmo game. Haters and fanbois go head to head in some random forum to fling insults and loose arguments at eachother.
But when i got to "The fanbois wont see this, and the haters love to pick on it. Me",
"I'm neither"
I got a box of tissues out and went back through all the crying and whining in between those 2 line and I got smacked with a bottle of haterade.
Take it as you please. I've been with this company through playing AO for too many years. I know their business strategy. They did the same thing when AO was released with lots of half-truths, lies and broken promises. They make good games, and got some good ideas but they suck as a company and their programming skills really need to get better.
I think one of the main things is that a lot of the users are disenchanted due to a lot of the above mentioned stuff, and along with that have lost faith in Funcom's ability to fix stuff. Every patch seems to only fix about half of what they said would be fixed, and at the same time they break about as much stuff as they fixed. And its not obscure stuff, its like "take 10 seconds to see if it works" type stuff. I am going to say that for me, the majority of my lack of faith in Funcom revolves around their ability to test if stuff works.
I mean, if you are going to tweak the spell damage coefficients, maybe some one should test and see if the coefficients are even working. This is like basic shit, and they are failing on it. Thats really the core problem for me.
When they invited me to be part of the "technical beta," which amounted to my having to download and install the client, then being allowed to play the game for THREE WHOLE HOURS, I laughed and I knew something smelled funny.
When they announced there would be no open beta, I knew what the smell was.
and sorry to hear so many gamers got tricked by AoC into financing their unfinished product. its def not easy to not wish for a decent mmo these days, especially when the developer hypes it like funcom did.
and hey some people are just really into the setting of aoc and the lore, which is cool, and for some it may be their first mmo which always makes it seem 5x better than it really is. my first mmo was AC2 (yea lol) and although i picked it up a little while after release, right around the time when you could chat in game, i still miss it much and think it was great cause it was my first.
but it is really sad to see some of the fanbois in this thread and elsewhere try and defend the game. you may like it for whatever reason, but thats just you...it is FACT that this game did not deliver on features and was programed poorly. the "get a better rig" and "lol beta" arguements dont work anymore, and i wont even get into the customer service....
we really need to stop giving money to these developers for their unfinished games

Why the fanboys protects this cy ? (fakes?) cant' understand.
hatebois? i'm sorry there are no hatebois only real gamers and mmo players who understand that CONan is stupid and would have been better next year with a sandbox system.

What makes you real gamer? Years of gaming? Hours per day?
i support real games games like the fist fallout the first rainbow 6 the first diablo and starcraft. and skill based sandbox titles like pre-trammel uo and pre-cu swg.
it is a shame that fallout is turning into an fps and that rainbow 6 is now a lame xbox title.
i have been gaming for almost 10 years now starting on uo back when we had great people making the game fun before ea stole what raph koster did and turned into trammel online.
that is what makes me a real gamer.
CONan isn't a real game and really its not even a game it's better used as drink coster.

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
Thats a good deal, I think I'd be stupid if I didn't ask you where I could find this midget.
I think I could get a miget to punch me in the balls for free, maybe not all day but pretty good.

I realy don't understand why hateboys care so much about what other players pay and play?
