OK, just interested to know who has played or does play either Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Warhammer 40k Battles. These are the two Table Top turn-based combat systems (one is fantasy and one is sci-fi) . Currently, Games Workshop (the originator of the IP) is celebrating a 25th anniversary. I have read books now and then of both fantasy and 40k flavours and played the RTS games for both fantasy (Mark of Chaos) and Sci-Fi (Dawn of War) but just recently decided to give WHFB a go. www.games-workshop.com is their website if you are curious about a lot of the "stuff" that you might run accross in WAR, by the way.

I used to play, but a lack of other people nearby who also play has pretty much put a stop to it. Mostly a Wood Elf player, but Empire is just too good looking not to play.
If they EVER made a video game that simply, copied the table top I'd buy it in a second. Just give me online play so I can play my table top with people all over the world and I'd be there in an instant. Sorta like when magic the gathering did a game.

Mark of Chaos is real-time and not global, but they released an expansion that did add global combat. It's called Battle March and hasn't released in the United States yet. I think it's slated for fall. There are already leagues and whatnot (following point systems and other restrictions) to follow WHFB closely in Europe.

I used to play 40k on table top was chaos and followed tzeentch
As for games i love the Dawn of war Series its really good. so yeah
I played Undead (back before they were split into different armies) in Warhammer Fantasy, Blood Angels in Warhammer 40k , Dwarves (back before they took them out) in Epic and Halflings in Bloodbowl. By the way, for any interested, there's a new Bloodbowl game coming out for PC. Really awesome graphics compared to Chaos League.
Used to have almost every army 2K points and up for both 40K and fantasy at some point. I gave that up here the end of last year.
Now I'm only playing Dragon Dice and AT-43, better rulesets, and no reason to spend painting miniatures anymore, which was one aspect of the hobby I hated over time.
There is a draw back, but looking at my shiny UNA force and my massive collection of Lava Elves always brings me back down to earth.
You should take a look at some of the scifi stuff as well. The stuff by Dan Abnett is top notch. I loved the Gotrek and Felix stuff, though. It just seems like there is more of the 40k stuff floating about.
played my friends back up orc army at some matches but never had the money to go off and get my own built up.... seems the tabletop is dimming out but the MMO can only help it and might get back to working on an army ....
I used to play both, plus epic scale, Bloodbowl, Necromunda, and a few others. I don't anymore for the simple reason that I moved to a location where no one else plays.
Tyranids for the win.

Yeah, I'd love to see them do a full blown version of the turn based system. Adding all the models would only require some decent graphical modelling and plugging in the numbers. I did a search and they did a few turn based games about 10 years ago. I rather expect for a long time they would avoid making one since it would detract from table top sales (which are huge to be able to play), but nowadays I'd say it'd probably bring up the sales based on the voting so far.
Keep it coming! If you no longer play, please post why or what you do that you feel replaces the table-top fun (if any).
I have an Orc fantasy army and an Eldar 40k. I have not played them in years.
Game Workshop opend a bunch of stores in the Boston area over the last few years. They seem to be full of people playing the table top.
I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.
Well it's good to hear things are still alive and kicking in areas. I've been looking into the rpg stuff recently as well to see how it's going (D&D, etc.)
I used to play Eldar in 40K.
I have a set of 40k figures that I've been painting for... Well awhile... Nothing fancy. Got it over 2 and a half years ago and the only thing that's kept me from building up an army was the lack of people I knew who'd battle me... Yargh.
Been playing for years, .. and years.
Most of our wargaming group will be playing WAR when its released.
Have a massive DarkElf army, thats been shelved for the last 2-3yrs(cause they suk so much azz). Heres hoping dark elves dont suck half so much as they do in the wargame
Also I have quite a sizable Chaos army, and also have extra stuff for chaos allies in my Dark elf army.(cult of slaneesh)
Also have a multitude of 40k armies, but we dont play that game anymore. 40k is to warhammer fantasy, as WoW is to Ultima Online.
40K was a great game once.
Does anyone know how to make a mmoRPG anymore?
It makes you wonder, doesn't it? I rather expect that if WAR is a bust that my faith in the MMO genre will be a bust, too. It almost seems that the more they hype the game the worse it ends up being. I remember VG:SOH was hyped like crazy; bust. Age of Conan was hyped pretty well and half of it isn't even there yet. LOTRO had probably the lowest hype of those and it seems to be the most stable.
Monopoly is still the best table top imo boardwalk and park place with hotels on each is very overpowered.
You are a retard.
Baltic/med were overpowered. you could get hotels on them in like... 5 turns.

In Warhammer I played Darkelves 40k Dark Eldar... well basically any game that has darkelves I am there.
Forgive Protus. He's is without a doubt the king of AoC's dellusional fanboys. I guess he took his crusade here. Sorry someone left the cage door open I guess.
Over 10 000 points in Eldar WH 40K. (Got an old Titan too ))
I also checked for Fantasy but hard to find players around. And not enough time to paint decently
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chess is the best tabletop game DUFUS!!!
For god's sake at least study up on what your talking about lol!
And Fix the name its not Protus-AOC its Protus-AoC thanks!
Oh and at least be realistic and not a complete moron about trying to be me I have a hard enough time being me myself!!
And you are??
Get over yourself and stop posting as me I mean dont you have enough todo playing hate monger on the AoC forums???
And change the damn name to Protus-AoC if your going to do it right.
I voted no but heard of it. My reason is, I really don't like the gameplay of the tabletop miniatures in any way shape or form, BUT..I do love collecting the pieces and painting them and putting them on display and I love the lore of the books. Just cant get into using a measuring stick to move pieces around on a board in a turn based state....GAG!
