Just remember:
Open-RvR: WAR IS EVERYWHERE! (RvR everywhere...in PvE zones as well)
Core-RvR: WAR IS EVERYWHERE IF YOU ARE FLAGGED! (RvR only in the RvR zones, but if you are flagged in a PvE zone you can be attacked.)
RP: Role-playing (I am the Queen of France! Off with your head!

RP, no contest really. More so since we get a surname,
I really hate to think of the useless name choices that the refugees from wow/aoc pve/pvp servers will come up with.
Like today for instance I had the misfortune to be grouped with a pally tank called robonator, Robonator is actually a very good name for the average wow pve servers....

I hear ya. Even the RP servers in WoW are a mess. I love to RP and I am hoping and praying there is less griefing and more rule enforcement. My policy is if you aren't griefing or being immature, you are welcome on a RP server. Otherwise you will be written down on a piece of paper and reported to a GM/Mod/Whatever.

does the "chicken" rule still apply in open RvR? if so I hope they have a few hardcore servers without chickens. I think its a great approach to grievers but I don't mind getting grieved as long as I can eventually do it in return.
The problem with wow's rp server's is the gm's have their hands full with banning the goldselling bots that spring up every 2 seconds.
They simply dont have the time to vet legitimate players, which is why you tend to see so many non-rp names.
The server's themselves are more more painless to play on, you just get far more mature folk there. I'm sure its the same for all mmorpg's.

Is open-rvr ruleset confirmed for release btw?
id assume so, and god i hope they dont, I just want open RVR in a around my lvl zone. Ofcourse even if they dont have a gank server you can do it in tier 3, since the chicken is only in tier 2 and 1
Also on a Side note, they are yet to say if a Open RVR server will be out during release. I hope so, this game is to pvp centered to have it that restricted. RVR zones in that form should just add extra things to do .

Although I enjoyed my time playing on a PvP server in WoW, there are times when I just want to do my own thing without having to worry about getting ganked so I'll probably role Core RvR.
Although I may consider an RP server depending on the requirements (the name thing won't be an issue) but I'm not really one for actually "Role Playing" my character, I just want to be able to be myself, and I do tend to use a bit of short hand like 'lol', 'wtf', 'brb' and such at times.
If you use brackets [[ lol ]] or parenthasis(sp?) (( lol )) then we have np.

RP servers are usually not RP enough to warrant bothering with, and I dislike open RvR as I sometimes want to be safe and just do some PvE.

Open RvR, since the last game I played was scrictly PvE. Needs to have that aspect of danger and unpredicability this time around.
i have allways prefered pvp / rvr servers in mmo´s. I HATE griefers, but i really like alot to be running around doing my thing, and notice an enemy player that i can attack / be attacked by. as Soulsurfer i like some danger and unpredicability, and by running around mobs with low IQ its nice for a change once in a while, to face a real player!
and ofcause, because its has been said so many times "war is everywhere" .. its a war, so if you see an enemy you kill him, simple. IMO its a bit lame to see an enemy, but he is not flagged, so.. he is not a enemy, even with his big badass armor, 2h sword and looks alot like the enemy, then he is just a friendly alli that is picking flowers... heheh... safety zones, imagine if we had that in RL.. oh there is 10 terrorist, ill just move a few feets and they will think im one of theirs ... :P
Quite undecided but leaning towards picking open-RvR since what I'll spend most of my time on will probably PvPing. I'll definitely not choose RP server simply because I don't want to roleplay; and consider it quite hilarious to do.

We may not have many grieving problems in the begining but since I get a 3 day head start, the Race to level 40 will begin eventually to see who grieves who first Im starting with you.
P.S. Also levels in this game arent such a difference like in WoW, for instance in one of the vids someone says something about like say a gang of level 20s could take down a level 40 so even if there isnt a 40 to help anyone everyone can gang together and eventually kill the griever.Unlike in WoW where a old 60 or 70 could 1 hit 20 level 40s without breaking a sweat. The whole gear not making much of a difference also plays into the levels not making much of a difference.
No such thing as luck, just believing in it is what makes it real to you and really...thats all you need.

O like to be able to do my own thing from time to time and in WAR if i really want to rvr there is alot of it around, it s not like it will be hard to find. I really do want to enjoy all the aspects of the game and don t want to be pestered while i m doing the pve parts of it. I do understand why people would go Open as i ve played games like that and really do love it, but my wife is playing with me and well she s the boss:) In reality i do want to pick when i rvr or not .

I meant in Role-playing, but it's interesting that a gang of 20s could take down a 40. This is definitely a cause for celebration!

Yes it s true a grp of 20 s can take a 40 np. As you can see in the scenarios they have a large level gap of players able to join, so yes it will happen
I know alot of people will be all upset they can t take down a grp by themselves but i m happy about it.

So I was watching the Q&A video at Games Day 2008 and someone asked if there would be any purely RvR servers... At launch, there aren't gonna be any. So basically no Open-RvR servers at launch, folks...
