People are able to hit max level pretty darn fast in AoC and it still doesn't make them happy because it's too fast. I mean gimme a break! Aion's leveling curve (according to beta testers interviews) seems to be somewhere between WoW and FFXI (or whichever one it was). Can't make everyone happy, frigging whiners.
That seems like a good sweet spot. I've been playing ffxi for 5 years, so the "grind" in Aion won't be that bad if you are used to it I guess. I don't know about you guys, but its kinda annoying when a game launches and you have people max levels within days. Where is the sense of achievement in that? You played the game on easy mode it seems.
In ffxi, for a new player it took anywhere from 3 months to a year to reach max level depending on how good you were, the friends you made in game, and how much time you could play. It would be nice if in Aion to reach max level in a month or two, so you could get to the PvP action a lil quicker.
Oh, I forgot to mention that Square Enix is developing a new mmo as well, It will probably be AIon's biggest rival competition when and if it ever comes out.
Aion will creep quietly in and have a niche market all to itself whilst the rest are quitting and resubbing every other month to WOW WAR etc we will be happily content in Aion.
I still think its NA/European Niche is big enough to hit 1m sub's
I recently started tracking this game. It looks very interesting. The visuals and gameplay remind me of WoW on steroids. This can be a good thing if they are trying to capture the attention of the millions of people who are new to mmos via WoW.
It's on my radar to try when it comes out. But I'm not easily impressed by awesome graphics. If the content isn' there I'll be gone after the first 30 days. If it's free to play I won't even try it.

This is win. I wonder how many subs the game will have. Asia is a friggin huge market. And about the community, hopefully it draws a more mature audience, like ffxi. The community in that game is awesome, and I hope Aion reciprocates that.

Since the servers will be different in america then in europe, the community will be fantastic, no collsion in moral values..

I think we've done great community-wise so far. Let's just say that it's a pleasure to read all the discussions going on.
Be sure to know that we're already planning ahead for all the events and fun stuff we want to arrange for the players, both in-game and out of game, and both before and after the game's gone live. The next thing for us here at NCsoft Europe will be Games Convention in Germany (Shameless blog-link: http://eu.aiononline.com/en/community/article/games_convention_anno_2008) which I urge you guys to check out. It's going to be awesome (especially since we're planning to have Aion playable for the public).

This is what I am talking about I hope there will be a playable version of Aion in english at the GC and that someone will record some videos for the Aion Community
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Im going to this year's GC and I will bring a camera with me ^^
Great
Maybe you can do some interviews with the Aion Team and post it somewhere where we can watch it
And I hope for a CBT release date at GC But heh , I believe it's just me ! :P

I'm excited about the game, and it can be something great for many people. I hope they make it hard honestly. Lineage II always has a special place in my gaming collection and i'm going to resub with Gracie until Aion comes out and try it for myself.
For the right crowd it could be the last stand, and for the wrong crowd well they can stick with WoW, AoC, or WAR.
i think that aion is really the dark horse in there years releases . with high profile games like warhammer and conan its gone pretty overlooked by a lot of people . that could be a good thing because expectations wont be as high . so if aion is a great game it will come out of the blue to most people . conan suffered from people building it up in thier minds only to find the reality was a buggy game and a lets say faulty game engine . if warhammer goes the same way aion maybe the last stand for quite some time .
I dunno about that... they made lin2 to compete with lin1, and both of those games have better income than any of their other games.
It has been said that there are plans for a Lineage III, and I can assure you that Aion is not it. Aion is a different franchise which we're bringing in a different direction. If not already, we hope that this will be apparent as more and more information trickles out.

No i think not...
We probably won't see the next FF online game for another 3-4 years so plenty of time for Aion.
If anything, it'll be the biggest rival for Lineage 3, assuming they plan on launching around that time.
After watching the FFXIII trailer, I can't imagine what their next online game will have. *Wipes drool*

Aion doesn't seem like a hardcore game like L2. I doubt NCSOFT would make a game that would directly compete with its flagship series (Lineage).
L3 will be the hard core grinding game they focus on after Aion has launched IMVHO.
I dunno about that... they made lin2 to compete with lin1, and both of those games have better income than any of their other games.
