I think the video looks great...they must of had several bright wizards with all the firey explosions going off.  Its definitly missing the lighting & shadow work which means its from a previous client or just turned off (they only started using it see the herald!).  I don't know what it is with guys that dye their armor bright cheery colors...(yes the bright pikmin colors are from the dye system!).

I can only imagine this sort of warfare going on almost everyday over those keeps though lol.

How anyone can say this looks worse than DAoC is beyond me you must be smoking crack or have no idea how they're running their beta which is typical of the posters here.  Post a bunch of lame flames and act as if you 'were' interested despite the lake of post count or knowledge of the game or the WAR beta process.  (they're not running a typical beta).

Eh...im gonna go finish some work and go back to beta.

I saw a dwarf with "pikmin" colors, but mostly they were Goblins. So, roll Order and kill the Goblins who dare to dress in greens and reds, damnit. It didn't look more cartoony or bright than any other MMO I've played to be honest. Medieval warfare wasn't about black, brown, and silver - armies had a whole pallette of colors, ranging from bright yellow (blech) to purple to green. Besides I honestly doubt more than 5% of us love running around in bright colors.

As for shiny spell effects, yeah, I saw alot of green from those goblins. But the fireballs are awesome and makes you think "oh sh*t that gotta hurt." Looks like an older version, except the last 10 secs, which is probably closer to what the final product will be. Not an awesome vid but hey it's a new one haha.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Considering we don't have an official date of when this video was taken, I consider it awesome.

    Most likely not this phase.

EDIT - And I was referring to the sheer massive size of the battles... the graphics have still been said to be under development, so I'm not too worried about that.

Glad to see they are still keeping battles the same size they were in DAoC.

i wish i could see the video . i would tell you all if it was the old client , staged or what ever else .  i refuse to put craptime on my computer and i don't have an insider account :(

anyway , if the UI looks like this it is an older client ... so old that i haven't even been in beta long enough to test on that client ! :P

Didn't show the UI, but yeah those were massive battles, regardless of graphics at this point - that's good.

EDIT: Anyone else notice that during the first few seconds it looked almost exactly like DAoC? No shadow, no lighting, and the cape looked copied and pasted. That was funny! And did someone get crushed by a giant ROCK? Fell from the sky, broke on impact, looked like a rock. Or maybe I have crappy eyesight hehe. That's definetely not the final graphics, not even close.

But why arn't they showing the current graphics? Showing a good, beautiful, and playable game now i think is very important to them, after THAT announcement. Also good if they can bring Paul back to hype up the game again, i think........

Not even the beta testers have seen the final graphic build.

They are still perfecting the lighting system and all... so far all we've seen is low res/low spec videos and screenshots.

Remember when a game just advertised graphics, and failed miserably at launch (don't make me say it). Mythic is more for advertising content for the game, versus just eye candy.

Funcom showed massive battles on a pvp scale and hyped it before game was released. We now see it is greatly reduced. Along with alot of other problems.

wish i could tell ya ...

i understand where your coming from but at the same time the game is at minimum 3 months from release .( maybe more )   if the game was a month or a couple of weeks from release and the only screen shots / videos were from the older client . then i would worry !

    That's Funcom though.

Your dealing with Mythic here, who made DAoC, one of the best MMO PVP experiences currently on the market.

unlike Funcom , Mythic will drop the NDA before release .

Funcom make it seem like everyone has a super computer and can play with those most stunning graphics at 30 FPS or more with 95 other people. Didn't quite work out that way now did it? Mythic isn't showing what the game is really like either, but they're doing the opposite - they're showing the worst state graphically. After launch when things are high-res and the lighting system is in (I heard they have it down, they haven't implemented it yet) and if it still has battles like in this video, which are enjoyable for everyone (meaning everyone can play without having a slideshow)...

That's when WAR will be a major success.

    That video is pretty bad...

I mean the VIDEO is bad, not the gameplay.

I really don't know what they're thinking with directing their videos this way. Of course the thing will look slow if you tell everybody to stand in one place and do looooong shots with slooooow majestic camera pans.

For the life of me I don't know what they were trying to accomplish? An "epic" feel? If so then they failed. Epic sloooow camera movement = epic fail unless you have  20+hrs render time per FRAME available.

Sheesh... I've seen direct gameplay videos and they don't look clunky or slow at all. People move about, you move about and everything looks cool and as is should be. WoW PvP would feel like grandma climbing the stairs if it was filmed this way.

Was that Asherons Call 2? Was it an indy game? Something like Horizons/Istaria? Worst graphics ever! No wonder why EA pulled their logo out of the Mything brand.

I don't know if this is an old client or not. But this thing just cannot hit the stores in 2008 and sell. Its completely outdated. Both visual and gameplay wise. They better pull out a miracle patch out of their hats otherwise I see the sky falling.

This looks like Dark Age of Camelot. They just can't animate I guess.
And then hiding this with lightining effects... oh God.
A PvP game with absolutely NO fast action at all.
    OK seen enough again.

Read the original post. It says this was taken from a much earlier phase of the beta, not the current one.

LOL. These ARE the vidoes on SHOW now !!!. This WAS beta - even the final lightning effects are in there -

If you believe this will still be changed, boy  !!! --- you don't know anything about video game productions...

They are 3 months from launch !

Look at the thread I linked in the OP (WHICH YOU WOULD'VE SEEN IF YOU READ) and watch that video, which is current gameplay. Tell me if they look close to the same.

It looks like alot of fun.. I hope they're still working on those spell animations though, some look really cheap. What bothers me the most is their decision to add the armor dye system. I really, really dislike the pastel colors.. I'd be alright with it if it were either subtle changes or darker tones, but seeing bright red gloves and bright yellow boots... bleh.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

All look at both links on the OP first. Then make comments it seems  they have come a long way on the animations between the 1st and the 2nd. And keep in mind they are  still more then likely have not running the full rez code in beta and optimiized. If they can keep the arfea lag out at least RVR should be pretty good.
