Yeah I play FFXI, but i don't really have enough time to play it effectivly at the moment because we are understaffed at work so i am doing, 6 or 7 days work in a row, and most of the time i am out with my friends after that, and because i am in the UK when i play before work if i have an evining shift... there is no one on to group with lol.

I don't see how its sad if people over 20 play mmorpgs, anyone can play these games, they are quite immersive and generally have good story lines, they are also a good way to just chill out after work or whatever because when you do have a job you can't really get to completly wrecked every night, although i do, but thats not the point, i don't have a 9-5, i got a shitty job atm thats getting me by till i can get a half decent 9-5.

Also alot of the people i played EQ with were over 20, and they were the coolest people... one of them even sent me an exansion pack for xmas one year. Most of the younger players just beg and expect to get given stuff and are really annoying... and i rememebr thinking that about the younger players when i was a younger player myself.

So all you "Adults" out there that like mmorpg gaming, keep goin' but don't let it run ur life... cos that would be really sad.

    30...and counting.

All my 10+ RL friends who play MMO is older than 25.

The trend, as I see it, is that average age of a game will continue to rise. No surprises there I guess. I grew up with Atari -> C-20 -> C-64 -> Amiga ------>

    Why stop gaming ?! :)

Ofc, RL tend to take a greater part of ones life the older you get, especially if you got wife, kids...work...buy a house. On the upside I no longer have the problem of forking up the cash needed to play in terms of new hardware and software :D

Im 22 and all my RL friends are 20-26. We dont get to play as much as we would like to because we work and go out, so we dont get bored of games as quickly as others would who play 12 hours a day.

One downside of being an older gamer is when you group with a 13 yr old and they just piss you off. Dont get my wrong there are alot of younger players who I dont mind playing with, hell Ill even make sure they are in my group cause their good, but when you get that 1 bad egg it ruins it for the rest of them.

I think all game players are like that. Whenever a game comes out and Ive been waiting for it I am GLUED to the computer, but if something comes up with some friends and I have the opportunity to go out, I always do. But I feel you on it though, dont think your lazy just think you dont always do it so its ok once in the while. Doctors say everything in moderation is ok, I think it applies here too ::::01::

21 here, i just barely made it over::::02:: anyway, i think lots of people enjoy playing computer games at any age. i'm not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination. when a new games out, i'm not the first one to the lvl cap, i'm usually not even half way there. i love to sit down and play a good game when i'm not in class or at work. its a nice way to relax by yourself if you don't want to be out with other people. mmorpg's let you be with people but still have the silence of your own house rather than being out. to me a game is some good downtime. and the rest of my free time is spent hanging out with my friends. it helps that lots of my friends like to play so we can hang out by playing together::::28::

If an adult plays a game, he doesn't have a life. But if a kid plays one, he has a life?

As a kid you have just as many things you should be doing with your time, if not more.

Studying, reading, sports, girl friend, etc...

Adults on the other hand have usually finished school, are married, have kids of their own, have just worked a good 8 hour day, spent time with the family, put the kids to bed, just gave the wife her daily dose, and now at 10:30 they want to sit down, relax and unwind.

The ony person who need to get a life is the one spending 4 to 5 (or more) hours a day addicted to one of these MMORPG's. That is a problem, especially if you are an adult and are playing these games instead of spending time with your family. But after they go to bed, gaming is fair game. Just don't play so late, that it hurts your ability to spend time with your family the next day.

I have a very busy day from the moment I get up til I go to bed. I have a lot to fit in each day and usually don't get everything I want done. The small amount of time I do spend gaming has to be done in spurts of quality game play. That is why I avoid the level grind games... And most, if not all MMORPG's out there right now are level grind, and I am not subscribed to any at the moment.

I don't see why what I said had to be rephrased. Seemed pretty obvious to me. Unless what I posted looks like I was stating my opinion of other people rather than being sarcastic?

hey well thats koo i got alot of people to say diffrent things cuz i dont have anything against people who are older then 20 i just think its werid but some of you guys had goood points.

well im prolly going to be playing mmorpgs when i gte older espically with are tech. these days that is getting better and more addvanced.

but im not telling you you should quit just wondering how many more people out there that play mmorpg are older then 20..because my friends all that play are 14-19 and that might be just cuz my age that i hangout with younger kids or people my age just like you guys do.

well keep playing and have fun doing it not ruin your life. i live in vegas and i saw on the news there was a guy that was 38 years old and killed himself because he got hackced on EQ and that is sad cu you shouldnt ruin your life because you got hacked in a game ether move to another one or just replay that guy agian and get better.

Wish their were more "older" people around with that attitude.  Nothing worse than being griped at by a cranky old (wo)man.  But, you sound like where I will be here in about 20 years image.  Just because the numbers get bigger, doesn't mean that you have to get older! image

LOL, time for me to fess up, I'm a young 50 female, with 5 grown boys.  I basically grew up with my children, and played video games with them.  Then they got me into an online game called EQ, which I played with them on that.  Next I went on to beta testing games, and both myself and 1 of my son's beta test games together, when he can get into the same one.

One must remember, your only as old as one feels, and should not judge one on appearance.  For the heart holds the true meaning of age for everyone.
