lets see ive been playing games sense mario and ff1.. but i started playing mmorpgs on runescape about 3yrs ago now im playing aspereta and trying all kinds because i want to find the right one that i can just sit and actually not get bored of cuz every game ive played i get bored of after awhile so hopfully a game that doestn ever get boring will come out.

"Everyone is intitled to there own opinions but doesnt mean its right!"
I was a die hard DAoC player until I realized how screwed up the game was after ToA came out. Bastards!
I'm looking forward to EQ2 and hoping one of the sci fi games coming out will be good since I'm getting tired of fantasy a bit. Hopefully Imperator will be good when it comes out in a year or 2.
Maybe some more. So what do I play right now? Lots of free trial downloads . Recently did the WoW stress test thing and enjoyed that. EQ2 is probably the next game I'll actually shell out box and subscription money to though.
MMORPGs are a great hobby, but the old 'carrot and stick' deal, just in different packaging, gets old. So hopefully either EQ2 will be as revolutionary as I believe it could be or at least the packaging will be shinier .
I will refer u to my sig. Not playing any mmoRPG's out other than the ones im testing.

EQ I guess was my true first MMO, back early after it's release... Played a few other online games before that, but none I'd consider 'massive'. Heh.
Beta'd or played just about every MMORPG released since then. Played EQ for a good while, AO for a while, DAoC for a while.. Others too. Been pretty much constantly signed up the past few years to one thing or the other. Just can't remember which(yeah, I have a bad memory). Just recently closed out all subscriptions.
Not really rabidly waiting for any real MMO right now.. Might sign up for Ryzom a while after release. 'Specially if I can drag a friend to that with me. But besides that... 'Bout the only game I'm really waiting for is Monster Hunter. Heh.
Originally posted by diegolink Yup, most of the upcoming MMORPGs will be full of l33t h4x0r kiddies. Thanks to EverCrap, it introduced the kids to mmorpgs because of its "Teen rating". Thanks EverCrap, you stole the glory of mmorpgs and ruined UO
Why blame it on EQ, blame it on the parents that gave the kids the money to buy the game
Anyways .. I've played EQ since the Scars of Velious expansion was released. But have also played SWG, Horizons, Shadowbane, Earth and Beyond, and the open beta of Lineage II ... Right now I am playing EQ again till EQ2 comes out.
Gamer since: 1994 MMORPG Gamer since: 2000 Number of MMORPGs Played: 12
Anarchy Online - Played the 7-day trial, uninstalled it after 3 days. I didnt like it because the game play was atrocious, the graphics and sound were no better than EQ, and the content didnt amuse me.
Asherons Call 2 Downloaded this the other night for the 14-day trial. Havent been able to play much of it to judge it yet.
City of Heroes Purchased this on release day, very fun. Character creation on costumes was completely amazing on the variety you had to work with, yet for faces it was very limited. Powers were amusing and the game play was fast past. Missions lacked due to it being very repetitive but the concept of no loot to fight over was nice.
Dark Age of Camelot Got it a month after launch, it was my EQ killer. After playing it for a few hours I cancelled my EQ account after saying farewell to all my friends who were left and then went on and off with this game for about 2 years. RvR is extremely fun since they put in the battlegrounds for lower levels. Graphics and sounds were so much better that Everquest.
Earth & Beyond Picked this up and played it for about three months, not too long after its launch. I really enjoyed playing it until they nerfed the trade routes. The graphics were outstanding, the storyline was, borderline okay, the community kicked ass. Its sad to see it go into Sunset. RIP.
EVE Online - Downloaded this the other night for the 14-day trial. Havent been able to play much of it to judge it yet. So far I like it because it gives me the feel that E&B gave me and the graphics are really nice.
Everquest My first MMORPG experience, EQ started it all for me. I loved it at first but as time progressed; I found out that I wasnt much for raiding because I hate hearing people whine constantly. Customer Service was a joke; some CSR hounded me because my characters name closely resembled a trademarked name. If it was trademarked, then I understand, but this version wasnt, so STFU. I right after Shadows of Luclin came out, never to return, until the sequel unfortunately.
Final Fantasy XI Second biggest waste of money I spent on any game. I didnt even finish my free month. The whole thing about paying for more than one character wasnt appealing because I like to try the game out rather than going with one character and class. The community was filled with jackasses, and the game play made me want to vomit.
Lineage II (Beta) - This was dubbed, Attack of the Clones, on another forum and that right there describes it entirely. Not only does the name represent that everyone looks the same, but it also tells you how big of a disappointment it was. The only thing I liked about it was that it was free since it was in beta.
Planetside (Beta) My first MMOFPS, it had some ups and downs, more or less like playing tribes on a huge server playing a character that can actually advance. Not bad, but not interested in it.
Star Wars: Galaxies First biggest waste of money I spent on any game. When I first heard about this game and saw the list of things going to be available, I was overjoyed. Then time progressed and the list dwindled more and more until it was a shell of a game. I became callous to it and placed my attention elsewhere until my friend urged me to buy and play along with him. Graphics werent all what it was hyped to be, combat was about as entertaining and interactive as watching the weather channel during weekend forecast, too unrealistic towards Star Wars for my taste (Womprat doing more damage to me than me doing to him with a PISTOL ), Customer Service was like watching the election, everyone is nice right before a new expansion but otherwise, they wont listen to you or feed you lie after lie after lie.
World of Warcraft (Stress Test) I only got to play this for 1 day during the stress test but for just that 1 day I had a ton of fun. Graphics werent realistic which is good because when was Warcraft ever realistic? The game doesnt revolutionize anything, it polishes whats already there and makes it better. You see a lot of stuff from EQ1 and DAoC in this game but the enjoyment is increases. Definitely will be one of the most popular out there when its released. I have faith in Blizzard because they have never released a game I was dissatisfied with.

Skratch makes a good point within his review: Most MMORPG's aren't good enough to make it past a month of playing. I know there's people out there who played EQ for 4 years, but for me and most people I know playing any one mmorpg more than a few months is very abnormal. In fact, even now as I play CoH, I am only waiting for EQ2 and WoW to come out in hopes that one of the two truly satisfies my gaming desires.
EQ I played 4-5months, DAoC to replace that for 2 6month periods, AC2 for about 2-3months in between the DAoC periods, Star Wars I played for a week (if I had owned it, woulda been about 3 months), then there's Eve for 2 weeks (felt like I was paying monthly just so I could train, screw that), Neocron a week, Starport got a week (the best 2D I've played yet), FFXI stole 2 months from me (though I actually liked having only one avatar), and CoH I'm on month 4.
Personally, I'm looking for incredibly deep content, and lots of little things I could do, even if it's just to kill time (jewels in EQ, for example). I expect a complex economy, and would like to see battles slow down alot. Imagine battling one thing for five minutes in one intense battle compared to 12 little rats, spending most of your time healing between battles...
Those of you who have 4 or more years experience playing MMORPG games: What game do you play now?
Nothing. I was spoiled by pre-suck Asheron's Call 1 so now I'm bored of every game out there.

Im from the UO pre trammy days. Ive been in every major MMORPG. I just quit daoc after about 3 weeks ( its all i could take of the grind and pvp buff bot toons)
believe it or not im kinda wishing shadowbane wasnt so damn third world.
im bored with the titles out now, they all offer the same " lets see how much of your time we can waste per day doing the boring grind, so that one day 6 months in the future you can get to the top lvl and accually start having a good time pvping".
lookin at guildwars since its skill based and not lvl base.
i like the realm war design in games and will look at buying and playing one, that is if i aint gotta wait 6 months to a year to get to a desent enough lvl that i can compete on a even playing field. ( or something close to it).
I like the skill based concept. I mean if im gonna pay to play a game i want the ultimate hunt, human. if i wanted to go kill a worm or a zombie id buy a single player rpg title.
at the moment ive been playing fps doom 3 and farcry. Both good titles and they look awsome on my rig. Hopefully farcry will get a new patch out to fix the mem leak issues so i and many others can go online and accually not get kicked off or lag to death. But thats a different critter in its self.

Asheron's Call was prolly one of my favorite mmoRPG's to date. I even quit once i got to level 10 cuz I hated it. But once I got a patron and he got me to level 20 it was all good after that. That's pretty much when you start to solo level. All the mmoRPG's I've played havent had the insanely good quests that AC has. AC = best quest system bar none. WoW doesn't even compare.

Games Fun In Beta But Sucked Shortly After Release -
MMORPGer Since Oct 1997,,,, You see that a lot with us old vets who played UO as I did from UO first day of release... UO to this day may still be the deepest/you can do anything you want game mmo there is. I kept an active account for 6 years here. This game will forever go down as my top mmo ever. Skill based, PvP, Housing, Dungeon Crawling, Crafting, Tradeskills, this game had it all.
Played EQ for 3 months, I didnt mind the grind at all... What I did mind was force grouping, forced mega guilds (had to be in one to get any good loot), hard to get anywhere in game (compare to UO marking of runes), Death in this game and downtime.
I played DAOC for 18months-2Years. I really loved this game... BUT Mythic nerfs to every character I built made it so I'll never buy another Mythic game again. I hope Impertor sucks and fails... Or someone raids mythics office and deletes them all Level 50 Hunter, Shadowblade and Berserker all nerfed to hell.
Shadowbane 18 Months, another good game. Tired of the bugs and graphics.
Didnt like Lineage 2, or Asher Call2,
Currently Playing Saga of Ryzom,,, awesome game! PVP, Tradeskills, Good Graphics and Immersive. I dont think EQ2 or WoW will take me away from Ryzom.
Been playing mmos since '97. way too much of my life has been wasted on these damn games, and ive only scratched the surface.
ATM, im playing Horizons, good graphics, great sound, good crafting system, tons of race/class combos..hell u can be a dragon if u want and decent quest system. it has its problems but its pretty much the only game thats held my attention for over a month in a long time.

Games I liked
UO - The Daddy
AC - Had excellent pk server Darktide
DAoC - Second only to AC regarding p v p
Shadowbane - Good PvP and nice community based cities
Games that I grew tired off
COH - Fun for a week but pffft what a waste of cash.
Neocron - Mediocre
AC2 - This is like taking a great flim i.e. Alien and giving us Aliens 3 .... Utter garbage
Lineage 2 - Officially the worst ever mmorpg imo
Poor is the man whoose pleasure depends on the permission off another
