Are you folks all that gullable or niave? Ther eis no Darkfall I don't care how many videos he shows next month. This game is not happening.
That's very funny, especially considering the game has a publisher and that people have actually played versions of the game. Oh but, you don't believe that. Asp going is just one big conspiracy, along with Women's Gamers and TenTon Hammer.
Please provide a link to the Publisher's page for Darkfall.
Congratulations, you can point out the publishers of games that are owned by multibillion dollar publishing companies that shove their noses into every game, and usually screw them up. We all know what SOE helped do to the Vanguard launch, and only the skeleton crew of Sigil employees that was left saved the game.
If you hadn't noticed, Darkfall is NOT like other MMOs, that's half the problem. Independent, self funding company, in Greece, (with HORRIBLE PR), that is probably going to handle "publishing" on their own, and let Audio Visual "distribute". AV's name wouldn't be absolutely everywhere, especially since it hasn't been formally announced yet, its just something Darkfall fans found, and AV and Tasos confirmed. There is a statement to stockholders floating around thats been in a few threads already, but I don't know where.
you are 100% correct, because the people who make other MMOs are going to actually release them.

Women's Gamer and TTH DID NOT play Darkfall NOR did they even witness actual gameplay, PERIOD!
All you need to do is actually READ the articles and you would know that. In fact, the Women's Gamer article SPECIFICALLY stated that they were lead into a room where an interview was conducted. They also stated that they were told the game WOULD NOT be available until the next day. Unfortunately, they were leaving the next day.
You can read and comprehend can't you?
If so... Why on earth do you continue repeating the SAME OLD incorrect statement?

Ok I am going to throw out some points here in regards to the evolution of gaming, MMO life cycles and what we refer to as gamers as "NextGEN".
Darkfall has been in development for almost 8 years. (at least that what they tell you)
This game went into development around the time of Dark Age of Camelot. The evolution of gaming has advanced in the last 8 years beyond comprehension. It has also skyrocketed in funds needed to keep up in todays market.
Graphics hold 1 of the keys to today's success of an MMO. Mechanics and fluid motion also hold another key. Then you have programming and net code that must be top notch. If a game doesn't possess all three of these keys, it is doomed to failure in the generation of gaming we are at in present time.
This is evident with the recent release of one Age of Conan by Funcom. It only held 1 of the 3 keys, it had the "NextGEN" graphics, It failed at mechanics, and programming. This and the company itself is a piece of shit, but that is beside the point. AoC is sinking like the Titanic after being hit by the Iceburg. That being said Funcom had money, it had plenty of money and it had a decent publisher/distributor. FAILED.
So let's play dumb 3rd grader for a sec and even assume Darkfall is a game.
Let's see how many keys it holds, Graphics... Not up to par with the 4 major competitors it will have to compete with this year. Warcraft WotLK, Warhammer, AION, or Age of Conan. Not in their league sorry. So that would be 1 key lost.
Key 2, Mechanics, well we aren't sure about mechanics because I have yet to see a group of users brought in to test it, "just in house" testing with "bots". We get told stories about how it is suppose to work, but no evidence that it does. Based off this alone I will say no key for this category.
Key 3, Programming and net code. Hmmm, well they can make the models move, that a check, they can make models appear to fight each other, another check. Looking good so far, how about questing and items working as intended? Who knows? Net Code, Maybe it works, they can test it in house so it at least can LAN right? Can it support 3000+ users on a server? Who knows. I will give it half a key based on the models can move.
So Darkfall has half a key out of three keys needed to succeed against today's brutal MMO market.
That is even assuming you EVER see Darkfall on a store shelf to buy, hell even online to download.
To top this all off the longer they wait to release this game, the better "NextGEN" becomes, and guess what they just do not have the money or resources to compete.
Sorry but Darkfall is doomed to failure before it even gets started.

You are totally wrong , There is next gen and also lame generic MMOs where no skill or effort is required instant gratification Hurah.
DF has everything a next gen game needs , Graphics play no part in the next gen as they detract from real gameplay, minimal look and feel is acceptable. Remove all the features that dumb down gameplay , integrate all features that are to be in the game and code well.
And you have next Gen ... most people who have never played Games with actual gameplay will not realise this and sadly they may be in the majority.

Great job of stating that anything more automated that what Darkfall promises is not "next gen", but anything that requires more skill is "next gen". Many could easily argue that against you.
DF has everything a next gen game needs
Really? Darkfall is "next-gen" is it? I take it that you have actually played the game first hand and experienced it to make such a bold statement. Tell me, what happens if it does release and you can't do crap becuase all the controls are broken and you jump and fall through the world 2 minutes after logging in? How "next-gen" would that be? Hmmmm?
Graphics play no part in the next gen as they detract from real gameplay, minimal look and feel is acceptable. Remove all the features that dumb down gameplay , integrate all features that are to be in the game and code well.
Great! Then we don't need any of these mmos because by your very definition, graphics and dumbed down features just bog us down! So let's ALL sell out PCs and go out and buy some Atari 2600's from 1983 and play some "next-gen" Pac-Man and some "next gen" Galaga!!
Almost everybody (apparently not everybody though) knows it's easier to prove it's a few bots then it is to prove the vid was taken on a live server ;-) So the better question is: can you provide proof they aren't a few bots? I can do everything they've shown in Torque too... that doesn't make my game a MMO.
I''ve actually heard this before (the torque argument). Can you please actually go and use torque to replicate even one of the vids? That would go a long way in making this argument hold water. You could single handedly strike an amazing blow. True not everyone would believe, but still. I would.
How hard would it be? Can you atleast go try it and let us know how close you get? Or can you actually not do it at all? Are you being honest or just making a point? Just curious here.
Also I have never played EVE. Who is there publisher/distributor for Europe?
You are totally wrong , There is next gen and also lame generic MMOs where no skill or effort is required instant gratification Hurah.

Basically, next gen has to be something fresh. No matter what the fresh thing is. It's definitely not just how good the graphics are.
DF has everything a next gen game needs

What if it runs perfectly? How "next gen" would that be? Obviously my argument is just as true as yours, both are just total guesses. I could link that argument you just made, to any and all games in development.
Graphics play no part in the next gen as they detract from real gameplay, minimal look and feel is acceptable. Remove all the features that dumb down gameplay , integrate all features that are to be in the game and code well.

Gameplay over graphics any day. He's not obviously talking about 2D graphics, but more likely that even bad 3D graphics and a game with features like Darkfall would beat the shit out of WAR and AoC.
Oh, hold on there for a second, actually, even 2D graphics and a few features like Darkfall has would beat the shit out of WAR and AoC. (UO anyone?)

I am sorry but you are wrong.... WoW and WAR have horriable graphics they are not next gen. AION and AoC have great graphics but AoC is crap and AION looks to be the same old shit we see in ever other game.
Atleast Darkfall is trying to break the mold.. The same liner cap gameplay with a new theme and story are getting old... WAR will be successful because of its IP not because of the game itself.
You can have your opinion but dont post it like its a fact, that is just silly....
Graphics do not make a good game... Graphics mean very little to me personally... I rather have fun gameplay then great graphics.
You haters/trolls have no more facts to back up your opinions then people that are waiting for darkfall.... What I can't understand is why do you have to attack Darkfall at all?
What do you gain by attacking Darkfall?
What do I lose in waiting for Darkfall?
What does it bother you so much that someone can want Darkfall to be released and for it to be successful?
I just dont understand why you feel you have to bash a game that does not matter to you. What the hell are you trying to prove besides your a bunch of whinning bitchs that cannot get over the fact that a gaming company is trying to do something different then the crappy games we keep getting in the MMORPG genre.
Just find a game you want to play and go watch it, leave us to wait for Darkfall, their is no reason for you to be in the Darkfall forums.. Non. Your only reason in being here is to cause problems.
I only wish that one day you trolls grow up.
In all honesty is not Darkfall I am waiting for... it is the feature list Darkfall has that I want... If another game comes along with half of the features then I will be playing that...
Can you understand that? Can you understand its not about Tasos or anything else then finally playing a game that is not the same liner shit we keep seeing on the market.
Why didn't he just show up with the game client and a PC and login to the game world from there??
Same reason Blizz didn't do a live demo of WotLK at Blizzcon and showed a trailer instead. it's easier and makes for a better show.
duh.
I've seen plenty of live play video footage of WOTLK and the NDA was lifted from the ALPHA testers so there is plenty of information floating around.
I keep hearing this and that about how awesome Darkfall will be, but it sure is hard to wrap my mind around what appears to be nothing more than promises from a developer that is harder to identify than a CIA operative.

How about a real Publisher's link? I can get one for VG on SOEs page. I can get 1 for Warhammer or HGL on EA's page. Here's an example:

Great! Then we don't need any of these mmos because by your very definition, graphics and dumbed down features just bog us down! So let's ALL sell out PCs and go out and buy some Atari 2600's from 1983 and play some "next-gen" Pac-Man and some "next gen" Galaga!!
Wow. Just Wow.
Great job of stating that anything more automated that what Darkfall promises is not "next gen", but anything that requires more skill is "next gen". Many could easily argue that against you.
Basically, next gen has to be something fresh. No matter what the fresh thing is. It's definitely not just how good the graphics are.
Hmmmm?
What if it runs perfectly? How "next gen" would that be? Obviously my argument is just as true as yours, both are just total guesses. I could link that argument you just made, to any and all games in development.

Wow. Just Wow.
to bad people have played the game. so your arguemeant doesnt hold any water.
yea i want to see you make the exact same vids with that program lmao
Sooner or Later
Same reason Blizz didn't do a live demo of WotLK at Blizzcon and showed a trailer instead. it's easier and makes for a better show.
duh.
I've seen plenty of live play video footage of WOTLK and the NDA was lifted from the ALPHA testers so there is plenty of information floating around.
I keep hearing this and that about how awesome Darkfall will be, but it sure is hard to wrap my mind around what appears to be nothing more than promises from a developer that is harder to identify than a CIA operative.
