Ryzom: Message From The New Team

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

Ryzom's new team has provided a road map for the game's future and their plans to restore the world of Atys to its former glory.

In order to keep you informed of what is going on with the new team of artisans working hard in the shadows, we wanted to first tell you that we are really very happy and very proud to work, and for some of us - work again, on the magical world of Ryzom.

We also want to sincerely apologize for not having been able to talk to you earlier. Unfortunately we had a lot of work to do to revive our fabulous planet; tonnes of terrabytes of blood, sweat and tears... hard drives to recover, check, and deal with... countless Kami, Karavan, Kitins and tools to find and put in place... all in an effort to prepare for your next visit.

We are all really pleased to share our joy that now the hardest part is behind us.

Along with your new entrance tickets to Ryzom we have also decided to redo the website, which will soon be made public.

But we must warn the old members among you: do not expect major visual changes; the new site will look much like the previous one, but in fact it has been redeveloped and entirely rebuilt. This site will be much lighter, faster, cleaner and more efficient in order to bring in and not to scare away our future adventurers, all with the slogan: "Less is more".

I could only imagine the faces of all those hardcore Ryzom fans out there

I'm probably going to try the game after it re-releases.  I've heard so many praises about it, I don't see why not.

Probably my favorite MMO of all time... I had a love hate relationship with it... loved ot play it, hated leaving but did.

It really is a great game, I totally enjoyed the crafting aspect of it and also watching the seasons change , I don't miss getting aggro from those dam dogs outside of town .

I will try it too.  I was not enjoying it early on after it first released, but I always loved the ideas behind this mmorpg.

This game is very different... Not only because the world is indeed a living one - with predators hunting herbivores, seasons changing and resources ripening in the ground in various spots depending on the weather... Not only because the craft system is one of the most thought-through, complex and original there is with limitless possibilities for experiment... Not only because the community is unparallelled among MMORPGS with not a single instance of griefing and help from any player at any given time...

Ryzom is a kind of game you really get to remember as your second home, a place of your awakening, your Motherland...

No wonder so many people kept haunting the forums, stayed together hoping, waiting even when it seemed that all hope was lost. Many Ryzomites have been rewarded this day and this is how it was meant to be...

A game such as our beloved Ryzom simply can not die...

It's now the 1st.. has the servers been turned on for the active vets?

I am also looking forward to it coming back, although more so if there's a fresh new shard to start over on as most of you mmorpg.com ryzom forum followers know by now :]

Oh, and I started a topic about this post of the new owners yesterday, so if they or others are looking at what people were responding outside of the ryzom site's forum, there is this news thread and that one:

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/192192

As a side note to the ryzom folks who can post in their forums, there's probably be a lot more activity, especially in the thread there for yesterday's announcement, if we were actually able to post on the site.. While logged in, I get access denied for the whole forum, while logged out, I can read the whole forum (but not post)... I imagine others are in the same boat.. Perhaps one of you can add a note there mentioning that the thread would probably be much longer than 12 pages if we were able to post :] (plus 11 for the french forum and 10 for the dutch? one)

I am one of the hardcore fans and I can tell you there is a smile on my face that is making the neighbors nervous.

    Ryzom is back!!!!

I choked on the meat grape leaf I was eating when I saw this! I caught on to this game when it was going through its last death throws, with the previous developer. I'm glad I'll finally get to enjoy this game the way it should be played soon! Congrats to all the hardcore fans. You guys have had your IP revived twice - not even the Firefly or Jericho fans can brag about that

Yey finally this is the only game in which i've seen such an active NPC intelligence(mobs changing zones, predators killing thier food and so on...)

Can't w8 for the servers to come back

    Ryzom is back!!!!

    heh, i can imagine that...

The pale face of a gamer who spends too much time indoors behind a screen, combined with a ear-to-ear grin would make a lot of people nervous ;)

It has been over 24 hours since I heard the news, still grinning.  Now just have to get a new system up and running properly so I can max out my graphics again.

It wont be long before more is known and before players are again walking on Atys, this is the news that the eintire Ryzom community has been waiting for, now I hope that others give Ryzom a try and see what makes this game different from the others.

Ryzom is/was a great game. However, I am hesitant to invest more time in a world that does not seem to have the ability to survive. Ryzom has been plagued with threats of closure since it began. Then it really did shut down for so many months.

History will most likely repeat itself :(

  • ScorpiusGoJScorpiusGoJ Member Posts: 9

well you have to give the new owners a chance, Ryzom's biggest downfall in the past was the marketing strategy or lack of, when players found Ryzom they generally stayed playing but I have found from playing various mmo's that alot of people had not even heard of the game, aslong as word gets out and people know about the game I and sure and hope that Ryzom will have a good long future ahead of it.

This is great news. Ryzom was always that game I went back to after trying the new, "better" thing. Most of its design elements are incredibly well thought out.
