To me, every city they add post launch will be like a pvp expansion.

  • Deathstrike2Deathstrike2 Member UncommonPosts: 1,777

If the back of the box references the cut cities and classes, I could see where you're coming from.  However, if the company has made it very clear that those things won't be in game, they don't advertise those things as being in game, and they don't try to rip you off by half assing those things just to meet a deadline, I don't see the problem.

The game is complete when everything advertised as being in the game is in the game.  I'm pretty sure those cities and classes are not being advertised as being part of the game at this point.

So true.  I remember leaving Tortage and thinking "WTF?"  It was downhill from there on out.  I never did find those 1500 "sets" of armor that were supposed to be in game.  What a load of crap that turned out to be.

i like that way of thinking.....

Remember the Cities are huge and i don't think a lot of people will go bored in WAR that fast RvR is a different experience then PVP and for those who have never captured a keep in DAoC or what never a part of 300 man Relic raids will find quite the fun in WAR...

My class was cut from release the KotBS however i have moved on and picked up the sword master....WAR will be compete (IMHO) it will have a lot more content then people think due to the ToK..PVE will still be fun...I want to see these open dungeons (instanced boss battles of course) PQs are great from the whole one i played   and of course i have not found an MMO that competes with DAoC for PvP ever

People are STILL whining about this topic? Jeeze. I read the OP's first post, I didn't read the rest of this thread, tbh, because this topic really doesn't diserve it anymore.

MMO's are NEVER complete games. EVER. Content will always come rolling until the servers are shut down indefinetly.

Now about the classes. THESE CLASSES WERE NOT FUN. Mythic wanted to create the perfect careers, and the cut careers just wern't fun. Why QQ about this? The sides are still balanced "class number" wise.

The same goes for the cut cities. They just wern't perfect. Sure, they may have been okay and ready for release. But they wern't PERFECT. And the cities will return, and I'm glad you understand that (because most people who QQ about these cuts don't). However, you are not  going to be level 40 in the first 2 weeks, geared up and ready to take on the king in Altdorf or the Inevitable City.

All in all, if you're soooo worried about the game, why don't you wait till after release to get it instead of making threads QQing about it?

This is not a question of the game being incomplete so much as not all the content ready yet. Incomplete would be like in AoC when feats did nothing, and there was no point to strength and stamina because it wasn't doing anything yet. There is a difference in my opinion.
Mythic just raised your expectations, and then lowered them and thats what this is all about. I wouldn't worry about it so much. If you trust mythic and they think that the game will be in a fun playable state with 2 cities, and they are going to make 4 of the classes much funner to play, then I would just enjoy the game and be excited for the NEW content that they will release. Up to you though....

I am worried, and I would love WAR to be all it's cracked up to be.

And you're correct, if Mythic never said there was six citites this wouldn't be a problem..but wouldn't this go for any game?

I won't be pre-ordering...I never do.  But if WAR releases with everything else it promises, and can get the cities in within a month from release, I'll be playing

you'll be disappointed then. I don't think you'll grasp how complex the cities are until you play the game. I think we'll see 2 cities about 3 months after launch and the last 2 3 months after that.

It's not going to be in an expansion. They've stated this when they made the announcement of the cuts.

I disagree that they would make the game sell millions for three races, and I doubt Vampire Counts would be playable.

they said vampire counts would be in, in a future expansion...they want to add all the races to the game eventually..if you can balance a player being able to turn invisible, im sure there is a way to balance a vampire against other races...and if not just put them in for the fun of it.

That's no problem. Practically every game does that, devs are humans too. Mythic never "promised" anything, they advertised them but people should have remembered that it was always beta and things could always change. You're right, Mythic has the decency to tell us so early, and that's important.
In your eyes it won't be complete at launch and that's fine. If Mythic never mentioned the four cut cities and classes you'd have a much different tone, like "20 classes! Damn, that's alot." If you're skeptical about the content coming in post-launch, by all means wait! No one is forcing you to miss out on the fun .
It's not like it was an easy decision, they were kind of in a rock and a hard place. They said one delay wouldn't be enough to make all six cities polished, it'd have to be two or more. That's practically another year. Can they really wait that long? No, not really. They have massive fortresses as placeholders where the cities used to be so the Elf and Greenskin campaigns aren't worthless.
It's up to you whether you expect the game to be like AoC or not. Honestly, no one will ever again pull a Funcom...if they want to remain a respected company. What's that little thing about learning from other people's mistakes...whaaat?
You do know that WAR was originally aiming for a June release, shortly after AoC, but they waited. Now they've had time to look at AoC's fail and learn from it.

Being honest doesn't replace the fact that there are four cities and classes that will be missing from the game.  And then saying they will be out in "post launch"...well how long is post launch?  days, weeks, months, without four cities?
WEll, I'm sure there will be people saying "Butz Mikey, tehy will ahve everythin else in teh gaem!!"  Well, isn't that what Funcom said?  People weren't prepared for everything that wasn't in AOC...how do we expect WAR to be any different?  Just because they said there won't be four cities in at launch doesn't mean everything else will be completed.
Being honest is great, and it is important in a company...but how many times will we hear this before release?  What else might be cut that we don't know about?  These are worries that flood my head as releaase comes closer and closer.

It's not really incomplete if they announce the cuts before release. All that matters it that what the box says, you get. Mythic defines "complete" as any game developer would. Plenty of things you may not hear about get chopped in the development cycle, it's just part of it.

How do you know if the game is INCOMPLETE?  LOL you haven't even played it yet.  Give me a break, just another troll.

You'll see a bunch of these popping up now that most of us will be starting to play the game in 2-3 weeks in open beta and the trolls will just camp here.  This is probably a sign that the open beta is coming a week earlier than expected.

WoW cut shit from its launch and added them later, case and point.

    Case IN point, sir.

I sympathize with the OP here. Yes, I appreciate honesty, but the alternative is an angry mob; so why not just be honest? Cutting all of that content is a huge disappointment. I can understand the classes, sort of. But the cities? How can you NOT have home cities for like 66% of the damn population? Tsk tsk.

What the hell are you on about? You're freaking trolling here. It's quite clear the game is incomplete. No, we haven't played it yet, OMGLAWL, but see, Mythic actually told us straight up it's incomplete. And I'm sure there will be a few elements, however minor, that will be incomplete at launch despite the capital cities.

Stop being a troll yourself. You're the kind of troll that immediately bashes anyone who posts even a shred of negativity about a game. What's that called? Oh, that's right: fanboi.

lol and your the kind of troll that uses words like incomplete in a genera that has no such use for such word or has no understanding of its meaning.

Due to the fact MMO's are never done, following your sense of logic would implie that every MMO in incomplete and they are because they are ever growing ,the only ones complete are the ones not growing aka the dead games.

Its going to be interesting to see how people react when they see just how much is missing from teh game when it launchs. A lot of these people are running on faith.

The game is finished and is getting "polished" as Paul said. They will polish it into the Open Beta and into the release. Then after release they will focus on more bugs, and the things they cut off.

All i will say is that it is fun, and all they need to do is polish bugs and make sure the terrain isn't buggy *cough AoC cough* and we're good to go :).

i would just like to know what exactly is missing as of right now?

1)Fine they said you couldn't seige all 6 cities, but they are there

2)Fine they said they took out 4 profs, but would you rather have the 4 professions unplayable and noone playing them and just whining over and over on the forums they suck? Which would be better? They will add more professions and races in the future.

    3) have you even seen how BIG the main cities are? there are some gamesday videos on tours through them....they are MASSIVE....and to take one of these....will be near impossible for the most cases. If a side CAN take one...its going to be a HUGE, and i mean HUGE accomplishment.

    4) other than that..every main function and alot of esoteric ones are in game as promised.
