I feel totally let down by AoC and by Funcom , the pnly positive thing I took from buying the game was the nice book in the CE , though after the drama of Lotro's CE I was bound to be happy lol.

I always felt that during the Beta the game release needed to go back 6 months , the rumblings from players were there and FC ignored it - Now they will pay for it because I don't think AoC is coming back from this.It will end up f2p and SOE will gobble it up and add it to Station Pass.

Where did my mature content go? and I dont just ,mean the "naughty bits" .Why do I feel like I'm playing a single player game? I'm not paying a monthly sub for that , I feel ripped off and FC have just faded into another games company that does not give a damn and even worse are trying to silence the players - THE PEOPLE WHO PAY!!!

Sod it , I'm off the play Eve some more

It seems many people that hate Funcom/AoC expected this game to be their hopes and dreams in the MMO market. I'm not a fanboy either.

When it comes to MMO's i'm not expecting a company to care about me, i treat them just like single player games. Because if a company really cared about me/the customer, then I could play for free, i would get content every month, I would get personel calls from them and daily tips on the game. My point? Other then a monthly charge, that you agree to, there is no diffrence between a MMO and a single player movie tie in game.

Everyone knows movie tie in games generally suck, if you buy one you wouldnt make a post about how this game failed to deliver what it promised. When you chose to fall into the hype of a game without a demo or trial or research its your fault also. So don't only blame Funcom, blame yourself for being naive. Every company is out for business and making money.

Yeah it sucks they don't listen to the customers but I feel unless they charged you for a month after you cancelled or something similar, then the "Evil Funcom" theme should be let go.

My feeling is it gets a bit more personal when you have volunteer moderators silencing people on the forum who are trying to discuss legitimate concerns, not the least of which is that same policy of censorship.  I'm all for squashing trolls, but players should have a right to share their concerns about a service they're paying for, and specifically to share those concerns with people who are considering paying for it. "Cleansing" the forum to the extent they have been recently is unethical and shouldn't be tolerated. :/

So true, just wish more people left the game,

im sure around 40% of players at launch didnt subscribe after the inital free month period,  reason i left was the god awful performance of the game on ATI video cards, and NO one at funcom gave a rats droppings about.

So why PAY them to screw you over like that? didnt you all learn from SWG and the pre cu?

So i went back to WoW created a few new toons and got my warrior T5 epics, and now waiting Wotlk in sept, that will keep me going till next years annoucement of Star wars, knights of the old republic mmo from bioware.

Okay. I haven't played, will not play AoC. Not for a year, probably not ever. This isn't because of the whining back and forth stuff here on mmo, it's bacuase Funcom released a product incomplete.

Unlike Vanguard, and pretty darn smart on their end. They made sure the experience for new players was good, because that is ALL REVIEWERS LOOK AT ANYMORE. Game journalists are in such a #@!$ hurry to make their opinion knows to the frothing masses that they typicallty just rage out the first 24-48 hours (or worse, beta) and rate the game based on 5% of the content.

Or, as it seemed in AoC 50% of the content, since AoC didn't bother to follow through with their feature list.

Screw em. AO became a good MMO after the fact. I doubt AoC will have the same chance in this sea of mediocrity we call MMO's.

So youve not played AoC but you have an opinion on it based on what people tell you.

In a post earlier, sombody mentioned that Funcom may start blaming people for bad PR, and I tell you what I agree with them!!!
Its the community/players that make a game work.

Here is a prediction for you all - There will never be a great new groundbreaking MMORPG game, people will always be unhappy with whatever is released, as its not like what you currently play - a 2-5year established game!!
Launches of all games for the first few months are terrible, but I would guess 99% of the people moaning never experienced a game release, or it was so far back when they did, there was nothing to compare it to - so wouldnt know if it was good/bad.

Just think, it wont be long until you can start flaming WAR

you are sugar coating what Funcom is doing players can't make DX10 work on AoC Funcom has to do that players don't impliment a pvp system the games designers do that and if they don't do it but make people think they have just to sell game boxes expect this outrage everytime.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

The list keeps growing of these failures from devs that you know have put out sub par games and have sub par CS.. And yet people just keep preordering and flocking to the newest MMO.. People want a game so bad they really dont see what there looking at ..next up Aion get yer popcorn..

Thank goodness for common sense people will you please learn to look at a companies track record if you do that things like what Funcom did certainly wouldn't have happened again

This is the perfect answer. We shouldnt have to put up with unfinished games in beta stage. If people keep paying subs then Devs keep releasing underpar games.

I wonder who would actually fund their next mmo "Secret World" after this debacle. Funcom is the joke of the industry now.  This game reminds me of Dark and Light. A small scrub dev. company, with good ideas on paper, without the skill to actually do it.

The exact same posts were posted in the Vanguard forums when it was released and people realized what a piece of crap it is. And its still alive, as much as most people want it to die. Unfortunately as long as there are die hard fanboys & girls willing to throw cash at poorly produced MMOs, AoC and Vanguard will continue to thrive I think.

My only beef with funcom is that the game's graphics look terrible and yes i've seen videos and screenshots on full settings, but the requirements to run the game are insane, unless you've just recently payed for a new computer or you constantly upgrade your rig you cant even AFFORD to play the game outside of the monthly fees.. but from what i HAVE seen in the videos it looks very well done, kind of like... hmm... a slightly better version of Diablo 1 (graphics wise) with the pvp of Lineage 2..

The only real problem of deception I have with Funcom is that I'm fairly sure this game was advertised as a hardcore(maybe not the right word), diplomatic-oriented, player community oriented PvP. Instead it seems like just another MMO catering to the lowest common denominator. Everyone in the game is in their own little world and when they run into other players try to avoid any form of social recognition from fear of getting PKed and hate /telled.

This is very different from a game like Eve Online or Shadowbane where through a dynamic online world and sheer necessity, players are required to work together to stay alive or even change the face of the known galaxy.

I still enjoy this game ... sort of. But yes there are a lot of problems with it. But honestly, I have not played an mmo the last 5 years (including wow that while more or less polished now is also too infantile for my taste, both in gameplay and average playerbase) that did not have a shitload of problems.

I have to admit atm I'm enjoying it more because of the great guild we have in it then because of the actual gameplay. Mind you I don't think it's that bad and it definately has a lot of potential for more, but as pointed out here too many problems still exists and too many promises have not been kept (let's hope we can add a 'yet' to this statement)

I guess I'll keep at it since I need something to do and if things don't improve enough by the time Warhammer launches I'll move on and get dissapointed by the next MMO or something ...

Why would you be mad at Funcom at all

Its like looking out your backdoor at your lawn where the dog has been dumping for 2 weeks ,walking out in the yard to play some ball ,stepping in the dogpie and being mad at the dog.

This steaming pile was obvious,no one to be mad at but yourself for stepping in it...

  • jakkarsjakkars Member Posts: 207

I'm angry. The game was good 1-20, but after that it was a big dissappointment. I hate Funcom, they lie about everything, that's what i can't get. Why FC? Why not be honest about your game? why give ppl a false hope, when you know ppl will find out how bad and overhyped the game was.

I move to WAR. The game is not in a closed beta state when it will be released, like AoC, and it reminds me of my favorite MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot. Mythic sounds like a professional company with alot of humor, and not like braindamaged amateurs like the developers of Funcom, which don't listen to their costumers.

I still have my sub open for Age of Conan although I honestly havnt logged in for over 2 weeks now. I got my char close to 60 and realized that running daily Villa grind wasnt really as fabulous as it seemed at first.

I am on a PvP server and fights are frequent and chaotic but the point is lacking severely. My only motivation to PvP nowadays is to get some ganker that pissed me off a while back - revenge can only take you so far. Once you get  the guy several times (kill, gank, gy camp, teabag, rinse and repeat) you start to wonder what else is there to do ?

Maybe I was dumb to roll a priest but it seems weird that I only have one real heal spell that is long to fire, not a single target and has such a degree of variance to the outcome as to make it a gamble when trying to save anyone from dieing. The fact that I get OMGWTFPWNED by all tanks and any bored, half-asleep partly afk TOS out there does not help with class/gameplay satisfaction.

Overall I am going to give AoC till next patch to see if they can interest me enough to keep playing. As it stands, I tend to enjoy the wildly chaotic TF2 battles much more....
