Guys, i can honestly say that u don't rly need to feel bad regarding AoC. I'm one of the few that now playing Beta at Warhammer online and Wotlk. All i can say: don't despair. True we all hoped AoC will be a Good MMO, but in the next couple of months you will see a lot of new content, which is rly fun and more importand: pretty much bugs clean.
None of the games (as i said , which r now in beta) display the same amount of bugs and lack of content i experienced in AoC. that's a good sign. i honestly don't believe that big companies like EA and Bliz will allow the same fiasco of FC to happen to them. so cheer up guys. Good new MMO's r just over the horizon.

There are no good mmorpgs coming out in the close future(08-early 09)
i tried warhammer and Wotlk - and they r pretty nice and fun. why don't u think u would have fun in any of them?
We realise you can't break the NDA and I am rather sceptical about both WOTLK and Warhammer until an open beta or even release, but if you could post any detail it would be appreciated.
I am done relying on beta testers/beta tests for info on new MMO's
Case in point... friends told me AoC was GREAT in beta....(see how that worked out?)
I played Vanguard since beta 2, and I was PUMPED!!! for launch.... only to be let down due to poor direction of the game
as it stands right now.... the ONLY thing I am relying on (providing I am even interested in a certain game) is the reputation of the MMO company. and on that basis alone.... I will try WARHAMMER out.
I too am skeptical however I still can't wait till the PW of WAR.
WOTLK Forums
Im going to try war, im interested in a lot of the things it has to offer , only thing that bothers me about it realy is the grafix and im not too much into RvR, its not that bad , but i like little more realistic , but still it looks interesting at the least. just not my cup of tea. As for wotlk , im sure blizz will dish out the same wow experiance they have been for the last few years , the only thing intesting about it to me is the DK class which i wish would have been there from the start i might have enjoyed it longer.
The only real game i would LOVE to see is Darkfall , but iis nothing more than a pipedread .
After Chronicles of Spellborn has shown itself to be yet ANOTHER casual-lite solo ez mode quest grinder, and WAR has cut it's content and features by 2/3, I honestly don't have much hopes for the for the near future of this hobby.
I'm gonna go back and play Saga of Ryzom I think... despite being an older game, it's about a million years more foraward thinking then any game due to be relaesed in terms of player created content and an open living world.
I am done with this generation of MMORPGs... SoR will see me through till the next (hopefully better) gen.
Yes i agree with Vesavius im sick of the solo friendly quest based mmorpg's of today where you solo or do 5000 quests till you max level , we need a real group based sandbox pvp mmorpg , Something like a combo of old school Eq and old school UO.
Besides 4 of 6 cities, and 4 of 24 classes, what else was cut? That hardly sounds like 2/3 of content cut to me.
That's 67% of cities and 17% of classes by my figure. So what other content was cut?
That announcment disappointed me, sure, but at least Mythic didn't Fun Con us by bragging "24 classes and 6 cities at release!" Until of course, it's released.
I hear you, so am I. While I believe WAR is going to be pretty good and I will play, I'd love to see a real sandbox MMO. Sadly, the corporate suits don't believe there is a dumptruck full of money in it for them. So we have games like AoC released and 700K created accounts at least, indicating that people will buy anything they hype enough (with lies, IMO - FC).
People are still supporting FC and paying them to beta AoC though, so even after the wool is pulled from the masses eyes, there are still some who will pay for a bad product as long as it is yet another clone.
Yes, I am going to buy WAR, but I think i'll give it a month or so after release to see what the community in general is saying about it.

I must be a sucker for punishment as I finally managed to pick up a pre-order box for the UK WAR Collector's edition today & will in theory have access to the Beta from next week.
It's funny how easy it is to be optimistic before a game launches, but I can't be wrong all of the time.
If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

I think I might take a break from MMOs to wait until this is released: http://www.mortalonline.com

i can tell you right here right now, that the cut content doesnt make up for 10% of WARs content at this point of time.
and anyway, since you didnt play the game with it, you can pretty much assume it is 100% .
you wont notice that theres anything "missing" when playing, believe me in this
other than that,Mythic said they would release that content when it was ready, so i dont think we'll have to wait one year and a half for it,like WoW expansions.... most likely, sometime between 2-4 months for a content patch.
and by then,im rather sure you'll have barely scratched all that what WAR has to offer anyway.
If The Chronicles of Spellborn comes out this year, it will be my favorite MMO of 2008.

Mythic is getting it right with Warhammer ,this game will be a huge long standing success.. And it wont topple Blizzard far from it but Blizzard will feel the bite of War for sure...Count on it.
Pretty sure many of us said the exact same thing with AoC before it came out...

I didnt i knew it would fail and said so.And was smart enuff not to buy it .
Umm, speak for yourself dude. I'm playing AoC and loving it! Of course I know it isn't finished but the graphics rock and I love the feel of the game. Every week it gets more polish and better, so I have the patience to wait for it.
Please don't assume everyone agrees with you Grimland. Put 6 people in a room and try to get them to agree on anything and you'll get my drift.
While 2/3 is a gross exaggeration for wars cuts, saying its less then 10% is denial. Anyway, once you guys get into beta you guys can get the grand list of mythic promises and line them up with the reality of the game.
Dont rely on fanboys circulating the forums to give you a clear view of the state of the game, just test it for yourself. Getting an open beta code is pretty easy.

guess thats an opinion. cutting 4 out of 24 classes and 4 out of 6 cities might look disheartening, but reality is far from that.since the classes play very differently,20 is an awesome number...for example if you think abut it carefully, WoW doesnt have more than 9 classes due to exact mirror clones. in each race
cities are just there for gorgeous look but you will barely notice the living part until servers go for months, and by then you'll have the other 4.
the only thing i might think that will be noticed is not raiding the other 4 kings...which i couldnt care less since im not a lore nerd, and if anything,i can wait a few months for them.
about the rest, and considering the term "content" to the fullest extend,i say that there are so many things to do besides laying around the cities that noone would complain "ok,without my racial city theres nothing to do...where is the content?".
it'd be like saying that WoW lost most of its content becuz it didnt have hero classes on release, and you have nothing to do....nonsensical.
but of course, people that dont like WAR/cant afford it will use this as ammunition against the game for no real reason. well, since they wont be able to play WAR,guess i should let them enjoy talking trash to feel better...
Here's the problem with that statment. It doesn't tell us why we need 24 classes instead of 20, or 6 capital cities instead of two.
What if there were initially going to be 30 classes and it was cut to 24, and 12 capital cities that were cut to 6? These types of posters would still say the game is bad, because content was cut.
IMO, you need to argue why the content is needed to make the game good, not just that something was cut so that must be bad.
Two things worry me about Warhammer
1. The open beta is limted to lvl 20 (out of 40). With a game that is so focused on endgame RvR.... this tells me that the majority of my gameplay is going to be on stuff that was not tested (or reviewed by the average player). You are really taking a shot in the dark if you think the beta testers from 1-20 will be able to give you a fair review of the game.
2. The NDA has not been lifted. There is a little over a month til the game goes live, and nobody can talk about the game. The beta is going to start with a month left and hasn't been really tested on a large scale (something that is crucial for a RvR game). Will the dev team have time to fix things with only a month left?
And just for a comparison. Wraith of the Lich King is already in an open beta without an NDA and it isn't expected to be released for 2 months after Warhammer.
I personally think if you buy Warhammer at launch, you have a serious chance of being Funcomed.
1) Most games do this for open beta. It's there to stress test, not let players rush through content. Plus it's not like Funcom where 1-20 was the only good part of the game . Funcom didn't even HAVE people beta test sieges period.
2) NDA is dropping next week dude. Plus Blizzard really is not at risk of people getting info out hurting them.
About the city issues, watch the podcasts. Those "cities" ARE STILL THERE in fort form. There was no actual dropped content, it's just that there are forts you need to capture now at the T4 content side. After you get 2/3 forts held you can siege the cities, which may as well be 3 cities in 1 because of how expansive and large they are. They were cut for several design reasons, not just because they wanted to rush it.
The 4 classes isn't a big deal, there are still 20 of them. Better then releasing a class that sucks.
