Dont know if anyone has seen this yet, but Seems pedophilia has made its way into the World of warcraft.
A 16-year-old autistic girl who was allegedly abducted last February by an adult male met the man online while playing World of Warcraft, according to a police affidavit filed in the case.
Thirty-eight-year-old David Faboo (at right), drove from Oregon to the girl's town in Northern California for what may have been a prearranged meeting on the morning of Sunday, February 24. After the teenager got into his truck, Faboo headed back to Oregon on a five-hour road trip for the purpose, police say, of having sex with her.

Always creeps me out when people cyber, or talk about that kind of stuff in a game.
Bottom line, these creeps are everywhere, WoW just has a bigger net then most games.
On a side note, The family of that Girl must of been burnt out on taking care of her if they let a meeting like this occur. Autistic people need more attention, and i would say an Autistic Girl more so given the nature of some men in this world.

With 11 million people playing...who's shocked by this? I'm sure it's pretty common.
I know from personal experience that WoW is full of people with various mental instabilities who play all day, every day, or are on various medications, have limited social skills, are on various non-prescription drugs, in addition to just downright creepy losers who stalk people.
It's a good place for these people to "escape."
Creepy. But 16 is kinda boarder line for what I call a true Pedophile just because many countries consider age 16 legal age for consent to have sex. I would question the girls parents on this if they left the girl leave to meet someone, being autistic and all.

Not only are there 11 million people playing, but it is a fantasy game where you can RP a noble hero and have an e-life. That stuff attracts freakazoids like you wouldn't believe. I know I might get flamed for this, but I noticed there were a whole hell of a lot more of them in the "hardcore" guilds, especially before BC was released. I spent way too much time inside 3 of them, and have learned a valuable life lesson.
All In all I have encountered several stalkers, meth-heads, sleaze bags, socially impaired, and all of the rest of the stereo-types in WoW. Yeah, they're real.

Just another example of how important it is for parents to actually do their job and monitor what their children do online. It is not their fault this happened but they could have prevented it.

Also, what some of you need to understand is there are various levels of autism. Everything from totally shut down to the outside world, to fully capable of living and functioning in the worl, giving the appearance of a normal life but with various social/behavioural quirks.
So the main thing in this case, besides where were the parents, is what is the degree of this girls autism?
The dude's a scumbag, no doubt about it. But I can't see a severely autistic person being able to set-up a meeting, much less make it work without being stopped beforehand.
Where were the parents? You have to watch them.
Yeah, everybody says that stuff. It's easy to say that, especially if you have no kids or very young children, but there are two things you need to take into account.
1. If older kids want to hide something from their parents, they will usually find a way. Most predators groom their victims to do precisely this.
2. Parents can't always be there while a kid is using the net. Especially nowadays when online activity of some form or another is probably 90% of leisure use on a computer and 75% of the overall computer use of a child. (Yeah, I pulled those numbers out of my ass, but they sound about right)
That's why I say it's far more important to educate your kids. Ignorance is really a child's greatest weakness when it comes to dealing with predators, and they're definitely not going to learn the skills to defend themselves on their own. You really have to teach kids about this shit at a relatively young age. There are informational programs out there which give you ways to warn them of dangers without being too explicit or outright terrifying them.
I'm just saying this because I pretty much was one of those kids, and I lived in a household where my parents kept a stranglehold on everything I did. Luckily, things didn't turn out as badly for me as they did for others. I did learn a lot from that period of my life, though. By the time a child hits their teen years, and maybe even a few years before that for some kids, they're smart enough to outsmart your attempts to watch them, and they're smart enough to get themselves into trouble. Unfortunately, they're not nearly wise enough to get themselves out of it.
Good parenting is not really about "watching" your kids. That's just something people say. Good parenting is more about teaching your kids stuff and being part of their lives. Also, you might scoff at this, but beyond information, the best defense against predators is to make your kids feel loved and protected at home. Most of the kids who fall victim to predators are emotionally vulnerable because of problems with their family life. That's exactly what they look for. Beyond that, even kids who know all the risks sometimes walk into harm's way because they can only focus on the emotional void in their life.

unfortunatly you will find them in all the games , it just so happened on wow first which is hardly surpirsing because of the amount of subscribers

An arbitrary number that says you technically could, will not negate that you are severely messed up in the coconut. I know that when I was 18 or 20 I would not have even thought about dating, much less sleeping with, a 16 y/o.
IE There is a huge maturity and behavior gap there, its not like a 34 being interested in a 30 year old.
If a 20+ is looking at a 16 y/o, they are looking for/at attributes which are pedophiliac. Take a look at the case in question here, the girl had the mental capacity and maturity of a 12 y/o. There you have it.

Just another reasonfor these guys to be put to death when they are prooven guilty in court. I worked at a prison for two years and there is no cure for these sick bastards. We had to ban the JC Penny catalog because they were using it for you know what. They will also sit and watch the Disney Channel for hours. Just put them down.
Very true, and that is the thing that boggles me when people try and blame video games for their problems. If only the parents got involved with their childs life for even a little bit they could have seen this or prevented this.
Truthfully I am surprised that there isn't a tag on account for underage minors that might monitor for sexually explicit stuff and just send an email to the parents saying please monitor your childs play. (Yeah might be aggressive, but you never know)
