Tried Lineage 2 in the last few days of "Open Beta".
Plain and Simple: The user interface sucks big time!
Compare the user interface to games like "Priston Tale", "Diablo 2", and such and you will start to see the difference in the between GOOD user interfaces versus BAD ones like in L2.
L2 doesn't let you have very good control of the interface.
You can't see very when behind you when you are fighting. You are susceptable to sneak attack and dying very very quickly.
Plain and Simple, L2 was very very lacking in other major areas too.

errrrr..... your an idiot?... yeah..... thats it. man, your really rude. the reason you go pked was because you sucked. sometimes there are a lot of pkers but you get over it. they leave once a higher level kills them a bunch.
I used to have a group of friends of mine, who used to have a clan in Lineage 2. Heres how the problem occured, they got screwed out of a clan house (used to raise dragon/horses called striders) due to a game bug (they had the only bid and it was up to the needed amount of money to place the bid) they /petitioned and it took 6 HOURS to even get a response from a GMand he/she said they had apparently won the house and once it goes thrugh the proper channels they would most likely get it.
Customer service didn't respond for 2 weeks and by then the clan house was the only one left on the server and it had been bidded on again and someone else beat them. so they take it to the message boards. they start asking why customer service didn't help them at all. Then GM Dhervin starts locking or flat out deleting their threads. to say the least the majority of them were pissed and alot of people quit. out of 35 people in that game 25-28 quit.
They must of borrowed SWG's/sony's customer service trainee's.

everyone bashes L2 because it has the worst customer support known to man, and the worst player base i have ever seen. a bunch of whiny 12 yr olds mixed with a bunch of chinese bots. the graphics are pretty good, but that is not what makes a game fun to play.
Originally posted by jimothypetro Well people bash it becausre they hate it. :P And almost all people that I know of liked their first MMO, no matter the game(most people's first MMO is their all time favorite, including mine, Motor City Online ).
Motor City was great. A shame that is was stopped. It wasn't my first mmog but definitely my favorite so far.
I am in Lineage 2 since closed beta. I got into a clan during my first month and I was in there ever since. The clan was pretty much the only thing that kept me from leaving. These folks are great. Well... until now... Breaking apart and seeing that the game won't really change...
With the chance of some new games coming out now, I've been thinking of leaving it again and go to a new game. Lineage hasn't much content. If you ever allow yourself to not go and make adena to buy the best available equipment, because you like to explore, chat, hang around a bit while fighting some monsters, you have no chance to do much in the game.
I like the graphics, yes. The music in the game is very cool too (and from one of my favorite composers too). But the community, CS and game content... they lack. Badly.
Probably C2 and the following Chronicles bring some changes but I doubt I'll be there to see them. When I decided to go to Lineage I really liked their backgroundstories, the world etc. But ingame you see nothing of it. That's what's about it.
Wow... first post... :P (and... I haven't read all the posts in this thread, sorry...
I played L2 ever since closed beta and quit about 2 months ago. If it is your first game I can understand why you would like it, since it is all new, however for people who have been playing MMOs for quite a bit will know that it all comes down to FUN factor. Bottom line is if you are not having fun playing the game, you should quit, it may come as a surprize to you but 90% of an entire MMO conmunity are not facinated by exp. grind. Unfortunately L2 is all about grind, and that is only 1/2 the problem, the death penalty in L2 are enourmous, so you can't just go out there and fight people for fun or go raid something that is much higher for your level, heck you cant even explore the world because if you die you will loose couple of hours of griding time that you will have to work back.
IMO L2 promiced an ocean but delivered a drop. A lot of things that they were saying would be in with the release were not, custumer service close to non-existant, PvP system was said to be open ended however it discourages any PvP outside of siege.
I can just go on and on about things it lacks, however I can say that based on my knowledge of other MMO games like UO, EQ, AO, DAoC, AC, AC2 etc. If you will try more MMO games that are out there you will see that that L2 is by far one of the worst ones, the only two things they did good in L2 are graphics and sound, game content is close to none.

When there's no one around to help you, and everyone is level 1-5 and the PKers are a lot stronger, how will you get by?
Yes I might be an idiot, but still doesn't mean you have the right to try and tear me a new ass...
Well back to starting topic, i dont know if lineage is trully good or not. What i believe is that the guy liked it because hit was his first mmo rpg and as someone at the beginning mentioned, his favourite. MMOs are a trully unique experience and the first of them always stays in your mind. Thats what happened to me with saga of Ryzom
---------------------------------------- You wont believe what the blind can see...
Well, i played for like a week... but dont say i was biased before i started playing.... I REALLY WASNT! i bought a 3 month game card (didnt have my debit card at the time, just got it a few weeks ago). After my friend told me, OMG this game is the best!
I started playing it, I enjoyed it at first, (this wasnt my first MMO... MY first was astonia 3, soo good). Then after a week or 2 i was level 19ish. And i was like... This is really boring... I don't mind a grind (2 level 50 necromancers in daoc, btw major grind there =D, loved it), but this game was just... horribly boring. I never had to deal with CS or anything so i wouldnt know about that, unless a bug stops me from playing(and its NOT a beta) I general just ignore it and walk away, I hate dealing with CS.
I just didn't have fun, I can start in ragnarok online(another grindey game) and play non stop to level 80 on a character and enjoy it. But in this game, its just boring. I hated having no character choices. Look at DAoC, sooo many ways to play(each character had their own style, well not all, but you do notice people play differently). Yet no matter how i played in L2 i didn't seem to be any different then anyone else... I hated that. I did have a nice clan with some friends, and I did enjoy it, but it just was boring....
I think bought CoH... with another 3 month card...
Week later gave me friend my account for both games

I had to deal with CS a couple of times (or... I decided to try at least).
The first problem was that I tried to put something in the warehouse and my items (along with about half my earned money) dissapeared. It took them 1 week to "escalate it to a head GM" and give me my stuff back. (and it took them about 1 month to fix the bug in the warehouse... and that wasn't in beta anymore...)
The second one was a bug a couple of people had... their character would suddenly stop moving and attacking, while everyone else moves, attacks etc. like normal (so, no lag). Including the monster you fight, of course.
So I was kiting this dragon and suddenly my character stops and doesn't attack. "Lag" I think, hit the key to switch to my dagger for close combat but nothing happens. The dragon reached me and attacked, ripping my char apart, so to speak. I was thinking "What the hell, I can't attack, can't move..." and typed a quick "help me plz" in the chat. Someone walked up to me and stood there. When I died I heard the sound of items dropping and then the other person attacked the dragon and killed it then picked up my items and ran off. I lost some quite expensive items there and was WAAAY from being able to buy them back. The person sold them but that wasn't my main concern then (yes, nice picture of the community there...). I complained to a GM. "We will have to escalate it to a head GM" was the answer. I talked to him. And I talked to 3 other GMs and CS people after that.
They all had the same answer... "there is no such bug know to us". The 4th GM I was talking to went to the same place, as he told me in the chat, and wasn't able to move when he got there. But then he quickly said "Sorry we can't help you. Have fun playing Lineage 2" and ended the petition.
