Why pro MMOers need to be invited to Elder Testing immediately

IMO, a pro tester wouldn't be trying to sell his pet issues to the devs. That is something else.  What a professional tester would do, is look at the test criteria and do his best to meet all the goals and report all the issues he finds.

What you might be demanding about is having your say in the upfront development cycle and making inputs on how you think it should be to be done RIGHT.   Sorry, but you need to get in the industry or be the major investor or an dev yourself.

It's hard to tell if the OP is being sarcastic and is actually poking fun at people who think like that, or if he really does feel that way.

If the OP was made in jest, then good job, very funny post

    If you were being serious....

Then you really do think an awful lot of yourself don't ya? I feel obligated to tell you that with that post you really made yourself look like a dope. In my experience people that actually ARE so-called "hardcore", almost never refer to themselves as such, and if they do it's in a playful way.

Not to mention the fact that you listed being a WoW veteran to show your street-cred, which if you truly are "hardcore" then you would have listed a game that the truly hardcore wouldn't be embarrassed to list as the place they were "hardcore" in, like DAoC, Ultima, EVE, EQlive, Shadowbane, Lineage I/II, or  Toontown Online.

Being an Elder tester myself, I can tell you that there are plenty of other Elder testers that very much know the ins-and-outs of MMO's and everything you mentioned in your post has been put through the ringer, and some of the stuff you mentioned really won't even factor into WAR. Namely farming, which if you were truly "hardcore" as you claim to be, then you would know that farming is going to be POINTLESS in WAR. I also haven't run in to many push-overs/"noobs" during Elder tests, and with what's been going on lately, it is VERY easy to tell who knows what's what.

That brings me to your "clicker" comment. What makes you think that many of the Elder testers are, as you called them, "clickers"?  I think I may know why you think that, probably the slowish combat/reaction times that you saw on videos or by watching a friend playing beta, but without breaking the NDA, I can't rebut your assertion except to say that you are probably drawing the wrong conclusion.

And honestly, the whole clickers vs presser argument is childish anyway, b/c really, when it comes right down to it, usually the best players use a combination of clicks and presses. The whole making fun of "clickers" thing was invented by the same people who call themselves "hardcore" so they can feel better about themselves.

Lastly, your attitude on beta's is probably the reason you aren't in the beta in the first place. Beta isn't for people to play the game early and find all the best spots for farming, killing, and leveling, it's for testing. Man, you have WoW-noob written all over you and wear it like it's a badge of honor. Only WoW-noob's use terms like "hardcore" vs "casual", "clicker", and think the whole game is about reaching the lvl-cap so they can experience the "endgame".

    In summation:

If the OP wasn't a joke, please stay in WoW and never, ever come to WAR.

LOL, so true.  In another thread I just said people call themselves MMO Vets because they did a raid or two in WoW.

And what the hell does this game have to do with farming?  Wrong game sucker.  We farm players in this game.

See there is one major consequence of being an MMO "vet" and not leaving your home or doing anything else other than gaming.

Secondly, if we don't get invited how will we know where to farm exp & gold quickest? It's in Mythic's interest to have us hardcore players reach 40 ASAP. Let us find out where to farm effectively in beta so we don't clog up the low tiers, killing all the monsters & players at release. This will let the casuals have a more enjoyable experience.
I'm sure many of the veteran players with experience in WoW & other MMOs will agree with me, we need to be invited right ------ now ------. Invite us before it's too late.

You have absolutely no idea how the Elder program works. The hardcore/pro gamers as you call it will do fine on the standard beta servers. Things work differently on Elder server, and I won't go into detail what we do exactly. Just rest assured things are being tested properly, and it doesn't matter if you're hardcore or not.

Honestly, the feeling I get from this thread is just that the OP wants to try WAR for free. All that vet and pro MMOers is just rhetoric BS. He just wants to play the game.

screw balance. a game cannot be properly balanced. all that ends up happening is a long circle of nerfs and buffs. and by circle i mean never ending, because not everyone will be satisfied.

my thought process is coming from a recent stint with the Civ games, most notably Revolution. Each class has stupidly strong bonuses, but in the light of other classes having bonuses, it makes for pretty fair fights.

id like to see someone try something like this in an mmo. i know, 2 different games, apples and oranges blah blah blah, im just voicing my opinion.

*EDIT*  and for future reference Pro MMO'er = socially defunct. you shouldn't have to look forward to "farming" and "grinding" for shit in game. thats the sign of a *gasp* BORING game. the meat of the game should be fun, and should not be referred to with such derogatory terms as mentioned before, thus proving that it is not fun, which is why you should be playing in the first place.

    not to flame but..

    what is an pro-mmoer?

i know some MMO games got E-sport.

but people can't call themselfs pro-gamer unless they play for real life cash. and/or have gameing as a job/profession.

Dude i'm a hardcore MMO vet and beta tester however I agree with absolutly nothing that you have said in this. I mean are you serious? Let us in so we know where to farm? Do you even know what beta testing is? No company wants you to level FAST, honestly they want you to take your time and keep playing as long as possable. Yeah and the whole WoW thing.

I honestly can't tell if the OP fails at internet or wins at trolling.  The below list of threads which they have posted in or created makes it hard to take them seriously:

    • Why pro MMOers need to be invited to Elder Testing immediately (OP created)

    • Is 4 inches quite big?(OP created, WTF?)

    • DAoC players are going to get a rude awakening from WoW vets(OP created)

    • This is an outrage, Mythic!(OP created)

    • hmm....

    • Order is going to decimate Destruction (OP created)

Your threads are ridiculous. It's beta, it's sad that so many people are making such huge complaints about not getting in. Just wait till the game is out for crying out loud.

What I want to know is why the hell would anyone put hardcore and video games in the same post. They don't go together.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
