I think destruction will have more people but will be less organized.  I feel like joining destruction is like joining a zerg army while joining order is like joining the more challenging side which WILL find ways to overcome the odds and come out as better players in general.

Anyway though i'm planning on having 2 chars on each side spread across 4 different servers so that I can experience each server's different balance.  Having two chars on one server sounds like it has little to no benefit.

I wonder if there are queue times for entering scenarios.   I would figure waiting around in a queue would be super frustrating if you happen to play a very over populated faction.  If it works that way, don't know yet.

I hope they've put in more than a little effort into trying to figure this out in a solid way instead of letting the game take it's natural course, as happened in WoW.  Some of those servers are so full of one faction over the other that it's surreal how imbalanced it is.

They've mentioned looking into things at Mythic to help get around this sort of thing, wonder what they're going to do.  Having players sit around in a queue all the time while they're eager to bash some skulls would make for some pretty unhappy campers.  Other than the aforementioned "We will give the losing side some kind of perks" I'd think a hard cap on realm population would be the most balanced, albeit the most unfair...way to solve things.

Such as, you have a hard limit of how many more active (not just level one alts) Destruction players are able to exist on a server before they disable the function to create more new Destruction players until Order catches up.  Over time this could be a good way to balance things out, but people would get howling mad when they realize that they can't roll a character of whatever faction they choose on whatever server they want, they would have to become part of the solution instead of part of the problem which would make people seriously uncomfortable.  If they wanted to roll Destruction, certain servers would not allow them to, so they would have to seek out different servers that had an overabundance of Order players.  Would be interesting but doubt that's the way they'll do things.

You would think these things would balance themselves out, but in the end whatever factions dominates will tend to draw even more players to itself, time will tell what that ends up being, right now it's just speculation with most of the speculation being heavy Destruction favored.

Your ranking was a bit off. Swordmaster chews all of those guys faces off.

As for the person who said "anyone with real pvp experience will join the bandwagon"

    what games have you played????

UO the underdogs were more powerful

DAoC the mids were the underdog and the most powerful

RF online the underdog was most powerful

and eventhough wow wasnt a pvp game, the horde whooped up on alliance in the beginning of the game before gear progression became a factor.

the underdog ALWAYS wins because you get more experience in how to fight when you are out numbered. you alwo gain points FASTER because you have more fights to get in.

most of the old midgard 8v8 gank groups already have said they were going to play whatever side was the underdog for that very reason.

Little kids will want to play little goblins , dwarves are not cartoonish enough for them to like.
Order is the daoc equivilant of DAoC midgard... not wow's alliance.

Im playing order just because they are the underdog. I will miss playing my diciple of khaine but I will love being a rune priest fighting 6 vs 24 type odds and gaining extra points.
since order if going to be outnumbered you guys do know they will put in a system thats gonna give you extra points and xp for playing on an underdog like they did in daoc right? all of us order players are gonna be level 50 in a month

just because you're playing order doesn't mean everyone on the destruction is a little kid..stop using generalizations..both sides will have kids, retards, noobs and old age pensioners.I'm going to be playing a high elf swordmaster, so like the cool kids say, elves are gay.

  • chryseschryses Member UncommonPosts: 1,453

I wanted to play chaos but when I saw the amount of people going that way I will play order and possibly another chaos alt on a different server. So I guess I just sat on the fence :/

I have to say that my first choice will be to play my main on which ever side ends up the underdog.  I just think the challenge is greater.  Each kill wil be sweeter knowing that you had a big disadvantage to get it.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a rush for destruction when the servers go live.  All in all I like classes on both sides of the equation, and will not have trouble having fun against overwhelming odds.  It just means the underdogs will have to be more coordinated to get our victories.  I do agree with the sentiment that if you are fixed on playing the side (or particular class) you choose before the game starts, don't let the relative population numbers sway your decision.

    I hope this helps.

umm. if the size of the battle is equal theres no disadvantage 1v1 20v20 and so on.

Im press Im pretty good at saying what I can without breaking NDA , its how I keep a reputation.

but a buffing/melee vs an aoe debuffer is not going to be as good in melee as a melee class with no buffs.

kinda like how a daoc warrior will eat a valkery or a skalds face off. overall they are all 3 equally ballanced, but for the job of melee one is clearly more dominant because he has no other skills

I understand the point you are trying to make.  I just don't entirely agree in this particular game for reasons I can't go into.

It has been Chaos for me ever since the table top game came out.

FOR THE CHAOS GODS!  Slaanesh 4 life, brother  ( HOGAN VOICE)

I'm currently a member of Dusk till Dawn, but I have been thinking of going order. I have had fun while running with them, but if oder is at a population imballance at launch I will probably be leaving the guild to play order :).

Besides, if you have read the books or played the table top game  you have an idea just how vile the chaos gods are.  Even evil undead are nicer in some respects with the exception of chaos corrupted undead :P

well its not DAoC and im pretty sure buffs r a good thing. the more u have the better. and the chosen can buff and debuff not just debuff.

..................... ok................ Im just here for thoughtful logs to be placed and start the fire of debate on my message board

My 4 swordmaster 2 rune priest group will be quite notorious though.

Im currently scared because my other runepriest is now playing a darn archmage!!!

buffs are a good thing, but a person who buffs and melees cant melee as well as a melee who only melees.

if the sword master relys purely on dmg, would that be like the black orc?

Play the under dog or you're on the bandwagon. Thats the kind of spin liberal politicians are putting on the current presidential race. Vote Obama or you're a racist.

Anyhow, I'm playing Destruction simply because its the side I find more in tune with my play style, which is the bad guy.

kraiden for about a week now I have read your posts and tbh they are starting to make me want to throwup, the way you like to say what kids will play, what noobs will play and how great you are is starting to get very annoying,I tell you what why not climb down of your "I played DaoC and I rock and know everything"high-horse and give us all a break!

Im an editorialist Im supposed to have haters its my job. I actually got death threats for my editorial on TBC.

Anyway..... I feel I can make you move from chosen to Super Hoeth master ninjar with a little bit of a force push my young pata-wan.

lets play theorycraft... we know that swordmaster has a line that accents their blade enhancements. So if you like the  debuff aspect of a Chosen... spec for the sword enhancements and run around and debuf single targets insted of debuffing an area.... and if you like the look of being an uber guy in plate... wear a helm and dye it black!!!

No mate that is probally the thing that is saving you from getting even more flame's,Lets be honest here you have been on these forums posting for a bit now and you keep pointing to the fact you are so good and know so much and basically putting other player types down,I tell you I have seen alot of other posters get flamed to hell for less than what you have been doing.

You mentioned writting a blog instead of posting, well maybe you should so alot of us dont have to keep hearing how great you are, staff writter or not it is getting very old and maybe just maybe you should respect the fact you work on this site and not an out of control l33t kid.

Seriously if you are a editorialist this site is in trouble.  In almost every one of your post's you have misspelled something or just plain and simply failed to punctuate.  MMORPG.com will hire anyone these days eh.

However I still agree that Order will be outnumbered and in turn compensated by Mythic as they have already mentioned that they will be adding perks to joining the underdogs.
