You might almost have a point there, except that I'm not insulting you. I'm telling you that when you post poorly typed messages which make absurd claims that can't possibly be true, it makes you look foolish. Thats not an insult, its merely a statement of fact. You can't have 25+ years of online gaming experience as you claim because online games haven't been around that long (unless you were playing the pen & paper version of Dungeons & Dragons over the telephone back in the early 80's, LOL). And you keep flip flopping on if there is anything wrong with AoC or not. In one post you will claim that constructive critisim of the game is welcome but then in the next post you will repeat your mantra of "there is nothing wrong with AoC!" followed by supporting the decision of the developers to supress negative opinions of the game.
And once again, you fail to say anything that would make me reconsider my position in this debate, which makes me think you probably never had any point to begin with, you just came here to say things you knew would stir up trouble like a common troll.
Soki123 has a point. If you think AoC is so great and you don't like being "insulted" by people who think otherwise then why did you even come here in the first place and start this arguement? Go back to your game that you love so much with your supposedly happy guild that loves it as much as you do.

I never said that I have 25 years of MMORPG experience, I talked about how long in general I have been around in the gaming industry. I started playing games on Commmodore VIC 20 then the VIC 64. So yes my gaming experience goes back to the 80's.
My first MMO was Ultima Online at the release, can't recall a date thou but maybe 1998 or something.
Furthermore, as you keep using that line from my first post to back up your hillarious claims about me, I have my doubts that you have read but a fraction of all my answers here.

Yes. I like AoC, but I'm also perfectly AWARE of some it's flaws as it has been posted about a million times already, but as I haven't experienced any problems with MY PLAYTIME in AoC I will continue to say that aswell.
I may be lucky or not that demanding, but I didnt have that high expectations from AoC in the first place, or rather it met my expectations rather well. I knew that they would not release all it's features at 100%, what game company does that ?
So, Im happy with what I have in AoC so far, It can and will get better thou.
This will be the last time defending myself , because you and your friend are only a bullys, trying to defend some mysterious cause by herrassing people who likes a game.

When you can't even spell half of the words in your post correctly and throw extra punctuation around without any reason, I have my doubts that that you have even been ALIVE for 25 years much less that you have 25 years of experience with online games. And as I'm sure many other people have pointed out in this gigantic thread, you lose any credit you may have had when you say something stupid like "there is nothing wrong with Age of Conan!"
As for your actual arguement: Yeah, its a game. Does that make it okay for the developers to lie? Does that make it okay for them to sell you a sub-par product? When you do something that is morally wrong and hurts other human beings you should be held accountable for your actions. It doesn't matter if its murder or if you just happen to be a shitty MMORPG developer. You should be held accountable either way.
More importantly: When shitty games like this are allowed to be produced and allowed to make money, it sets a standard that making shitty games, spreading lies about the quality of those games and profiting from it is the way the gaming industry works. Have you ever stopped to wonder WHY every game developer has lied to you about the quality of every game you have played? Because YOU allow them to keep doing it. They won't start telling you the truth about the quality of their products until you start expecting them to do so and holding them accountable when they don't.
Im 41 years old and come from Sweden, maybe that answers your question about me, or do you want to continue guessing how old I am and how long i have played MMO's.

As far as credit go, I play AoC right now, and still feel that there isn't anything wrong with it. I have 5 charcthers and all of them is around 60 in lvl, I have never had any problems with content nor any crashes or other problems.
This is MY experience with the game, and thats also why I have a hard time grasping all the hate.

When players are on a tech forum trying to find out why they can't get a game to work, and then the inevitable guy comes in spewing " This game works for me perfect. SInce it's fine for me, you must have shitty comps or are just talking shit.", instead of considering for one second and realizing not everyone has the exact same hardware/software configuration running on their comps as he does on his.
You are that guy here. You come in and declare that YOU have no problems and the game is fine for YOU, so everyone else is full of shit and needs to shut up.
I'm gonna give you some advice. Instead of coming in here complaining about our complaining, you should be on your knees thanking God, Allah, and Mickey Mouse that YOU do not have the same problems regarding AoC or it's devs, and go enjoy your game.
Now I am not a hate monger, but I felt I needed to respond to your post just to show there are frustrations out there. I have never bashed AoC or Funcom. In fact, I like Age of Conan too! I love the game. However, where it ran very stable for me in the beginning, I cannot go 20 minutes without encountering a BSOD, lock up or some other crash. The game stability has really turned me off at the moment.
The other thing that upset me was the fact I went out and dropped $200 on Vista 64 (upgrade from Vista 32) and $300 on additional 4 gig of ram bringing my box to 8 gig of ram. I have a quad core extreme 3.2 ghz processor and SLI 8800 GTX cards. So the game didn't cost me only $50, I also paid for a 6 month sub hoping that after 2 months the game would be solid, so all in all I spent $650 to play Age of Conan. Yes my computer is better, but man, I am pretty upset for a game that has so much potential and I can't play.

You honestly think that no one in your guild has left the game because of the crap funcom left on the doorstep? Is the guild just you and army of dolls?
For me, I had some isues with the gameplay, but nothing that was terribly offputting. I was a casual AoC player, only had one character at level 70 and a couple of level 20 bank mules.
However, my lack of game stability eventually led me to drop my sub. Tthe killer for me was the ongoing "Assertion Failed" error. Maybe every 3rd time I zoned, the game crashed. The memory leaks never seems to resolve. My computer was not a hard core gaming system, just an Athlon Dual Core with WinXP, 4gigs of RAM (3 of which WinXP would use) and an NVIDIA 8800 card.
Another issue was my DSL, which seems to hiccup a lot this summer, perhaps due to summer rainstorms. With something like WoW, recovering from an ISPs instability was fairly quick but it took a lot more time in AoC, at least game restart and sometimes computer reboot.
AoC has some very nice and interesting features and it sure was georgeous to watch and a nice change from WoW cartoons. I appreciated how it had a more varied class system than WoW. I did not like the crafting system/gathering system. I did not find the use of mounts very helpful in the game. I was pretty sure (but could not prove) that loot drops were not random but had a bias against your armor class. I did like the quest system and found it a lot more fun than a game such as WoW.
For you all who are playing AoC and enjoying it, best of luck and I hope all your dreams are fulfilled! I am going back to wait for the immergence of a skill-based sandbox game that allows crosstraining, like my good old pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies. Ha ha, I know, it will never come, but one can only hope!
I can understand where the OP was going, there really is a bunch of sad little scumbags who can't let nothing go.
Did the game suck? IMO...yes but thats besides the point, I also payed the £30 to play this and I lasted no more than 3 weeks because it wasn't what I expected but this is the first post that I have wrote about the game and will most probably be the last.
What people don't get is all this angry mob stuff is doing nothing to help the game, it's just persuading simple minded people like yourself to not play it.
If you guys tried more constructive criticism to Funcom via bug tickets and private messages on the official forums you could help Funcom put right what is wrong and if they had more subscriptions they would have more money to rectify what is wrong and the give you whiners a decent MMO where you would feel as if your money was well spent.
At the end of the day if you don't want to be a part of the solution then don't say nothing as all it does is ruin other peoples expieriences.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and they will inevitable be different from others. When I look at a game I actually tend to prefer reading and trusting some of the posts that are more critical. I like to see the flaws people have noticed within the game, so I know what to expect. I can then compare these with the positive points and see if the good outwieghs the bad. It is also easy o see who is posting negative comments without and truth behind them, just as easy as it is to see a fan that is afraid to hear anything bad about somethign they like. Every game I have ever played I have seen negative points even with my favorite game of all time. Nothing is perfect and fans need to seriously look at the game they enjoy, if they are not able to see some flaws with it, then they need to take off the elton john style rose colored glasses. I will continue to appreciate the opinions of everyone that is able to make a logical complaint.
I honestly think the problem lies within the issue of how many MMOs have been released in the past and have burned the older generation of the MMOers (like myself, an early EQ player) so as soon as someone starts in on how terrible a game is, its bound to produce a following of someone who has been burned by the same game. I dont know, maybe this is what we need, a revolt. But I know how stagnant the MMO industry is right now, in terms of quality, progressiveness, and community.
I think we need to take a step back and think. Yes, games have been produced that are terrible and warrent community backlash for pathetic development and poor choices, but will total outright community negativity to utterly destroy the game a good thing for the MMO market? What happens if future developers sees this (in a hypothetical future, Funcom shuts its doors) and feels that MMOs are just too great a risk for the reward. Not only did we only hurt ourselves in the process, but we could end up causing a major trend in video game development that could easily produce a negative result.
In my honest opinion, I can feel and understand the frustration and hate towards this game. But the overly stated negative posts about this game really needs to take a hike.
Of course, on the other end of the spectrum, maybe future developers will take notice and see that there is basically only two types of MMOs, the generic (EQ, WoW, ect) and the niche (EVE, WAR, ect.) Your either targetting the masses or a group. There is no way to capture all of these people. And the only reason WoW did so well is because of the established name Blizzard has and its Warcraft universe. I can almost guarantee you that is the number one factor in WoW's success.
So, everyone just take a step back, take a deep breath, and think before you post. Emotions are best kept in check and only brought out on the table when there are no other options left. We are far from a dark era were gamers do not think logically before emotionally so no need to bring out those defenses!

Erm .. dont get me wrong but wasnt that what beta test was for, to listen to the bug reports and beta forums posts......... they didnt listen then why would they now.
Funcom dont listen to players, they do what they want when they want to, and if the game fails and is pulled then its Funcoms fault, not the players that post hate for the game, and from another post i seen, if ppl saying how bad THEY found the game makes someone think twice about dropping cash for it (cash that might be hard to come by, not everyones got bank loads of cash) then good.

To put it simply for the $50 cost to buy AoC it should at least come with a jar of vasoline.
This game at best is on the level of free 2 play games and most of them are better than AoC. If Funcom would have made AoC free to download with a small monthly fee people would not be nearly as pissed.
