WoW players - This game is NOT for you!

Warhammer is a strategic game and will require a certain amount of intelligence to play well.

There will be no 'I win' button, stun-locking or 1-shotting.  Tactics will need to be employed by teams working together to achieve a common goal.  Words of more than one syllable will need to be used to convey instructions to one another - except the grunts used by Destruction of course.

Stealth is not a major mechanic, allowing the unskilled closing of range and providing easy kills.  You will have to plan ahead, and maybe use more than 2 button presses to succeed.

This game is for GOOD players.

World of Warcraft players, move along, nothing to see here for you

While I agree in any game intelligence should be applied, I assure you there is no I win button.

Regarding stun lock and stealth, both require consistent attacks and thinking ahead (and counters to or by with stats). In no way is WoW a "dumbman's" game.

If you wish to insult WoW players, I'd suggest their forum; not warhammer's.

no it was cool the first year or two. Beyond that and it's just become stupid flame bait. the best part is a lot of the flamers have probably done their time in the game. But it's just so cool to bash it because the group here bashes the game. Gotta fit in with the others you know.

Two things you can expect in every single thread here.

Someone could post: Nice weather today

response #1:Oh yeah, wow sucks you stupid noob loser. You wow players are a bunch of immature poopie pants.

response #2: SOE are teh debil. They killed muh SWG.

disclaimer:Not a fanboy and I do not subscribe to WoW. It's just after years of being on these boards the lot of you have become too predictable.

So basically the OP is saying he used to be decimated by rogues in WOW, and he thinks WAR will be easier? If you were destroyed by rogues in WoW you will be still suck in WAR. Of course, the good news is that people should be evenly geared unlike the game you love to hate.

About 90% of people posting here have played wow..so well done for insulting the whole community. Playing a game doesn't make you  less intelligent, but reading your post might.

    Bwahahahahaha!

Sorry. Again, I find the elitism displayed by some people quite hilarious. Especially when it comes to WoW. It's quite astonishing that so many people seem to think that just because people enjoy a game they are unable to do anything but play -that- particular game.

Seriously, get a grip and leave this argument buried. You're just showing how rather sad these people are, who seem to need the consolation that the "GAME" they play requires more "SKILL" than the game of someone else. But hey, all these people can still look at the subscriber numbers of WoW and secretly be happy that they are so much better than all of those.

    Cheers!

OP says there are no overpowered classes in WAR, like Warlock, rogue, hunter (pve) ?

Classes do need a little tweaking, but since they're balanced around PvP and not PvE like WoW, it should be easier (I've heard Bright Wizards are glass WMDs. No, not glass cannons - glass WMDs.)

erm.. I played a druid in arena for 2v2 on a friends account and it was probably the most complicated pvp system ive ever seen  in any game. You cyclone him when he casts this, bear charge that, re-cyclone, entangling roots, get out of LOS, all while healing your dps... and druid is the EASIEST class to win with in 2v2...

theres so many counter measures in WoW that you have to be on your game at all times.. and what do rogues do when the person they are killing trinkets out and starts beating them? there is no i win button, sorry to say.

HOWEVER, bg's are worthless gimme loots if i stand around doing nothing fests. blizzard really failed there tbh.

This is why WAR will be even better, it will give a meaning to pvp WHILE getting phat loots.

Oh come on. You cant tell me a single person here has not at least tried WoW.

If not you really are missing easily the most polished MMO ever made. Perhaps not best or hardest but easily the most polished.

This game is for anyone that feels they will get enjoyment from it. Dont listen to the " 1337 r0x0r hardcore nerd ragers"

  • Bruticus_XIBruticus_XI Member Posts: 827

The OP just means that fights will last longer and your target will have more of a chance. For example, stunlocking - let's look at it.

Rogue comes up, cheap shot, hit hit hit, etc. But suppose the target uses a trinket that dispels all movement effects/control loss of the character effects (the target is a hunter without Beastial Wrath).

Rogue thinks "oh crap" and sees 4 more Alliance running towards him.

Rogues vanishes into thin air even though the hunter is looking at him and goes "Lol this is bullshit realistically but I like it."

Rogue sneaks around doing his stealth BS until the same hunter is far away from the other 4.

Rogue...comes up, cheap shot, the hunter doesn't have a trinket this time. Bam bam bam, all he has to do is watch his energy and the timer because once cheap shot is done KIDNEY SHOT lolololololol the hunter is already down to 50% health. OUCH MACE STUN the hunter is down to 10% health. Just a few more sinister strikes and he's dead.

Yeah that really takes sooooooooo much skill.

Now, WAR doesn't have that kind of CC, which, as in another thread, some people see as bad. It just means that your target will have a chance to fight back and, especially if you're a caster, you'll have to rely on tanks and other people to be your shields.

One more friendly suggestion - for those who are "sick of cookie-cutter MMOs", wait for Darkfall. *Laughs*. (Saw a post in this thread...look carefully.)

I think WoW did very good for what it is. I think WoW really brought a LOT of attention to the MMO market that there wasn't before. I think it's pretty safe to say that without WoW we might not even have WAR right now.

It was fun for the time being, but they just didn't have much (for me).

  • RiechmanRiechman Member Posts: 19

Here let me rewrite your post.

What he was really meaning to say is:

Warhammer is one of the most hyped up games in the world. It may have a bad launch. Hopefully it won't be buggy with broken classes like every other MMO has in the past 3 yrs.

The developers listen to the entire community, wether your a carebear or hardcore gamer.  Will tactics need to be employed by teams working together to achieve a common goal? We'll see.

I hope this will be a GOOD game!

Of course! World of Warcraft players are invited to play.  I hope to see you there!

Op is wrong. The game is not for the "me me me me me me me" crowd. I dont think I need to go into details on what I mean by that.

  • Ender4Ender4 Member UncommonPosts: 2,247

If there were a competition where the best PvPers from every game ever made got together and fought in a neutral setting my money would easily be on the GW and WoW players. UO, AC, SB, AOC never had anything requiring as much skill as the top end arena players in WoW display.

I never bought the WoW takes no skill argument and I still don't. It was painfully obvious in my time playing that game that gear can cover up poor play somewhat but skill certainly still matters.

I agree with you on that one. The WoW arena really made you train and practice and achieve to win that tournament. It really required skill and strategy. A LOT OF IT.

The arena is the best thing to happen to WoW pvp, not so much everything else. I am really looking forward to Blizzards next MMORPG which they are developing, since they have learned much from WoW. What worked and what didnt work.
