Im like someone else earlier. I didnt really want to play it either. Just to much like the other games. Besides I have LOTRO. Rather I did. Something about this themepark feels more.. Interactive. Your actually cooperating with people to capture whole parts of the world. A bit like a very watered down version of Eve. Mind you thats in the loosest of terms. Plus I just like the humour of the warhammer series.

Exactly what I'm looking for. Same old same old, (with solid RvR) in a shiny new package. I'm not being sarcastic, I am looking forward to playing WAR.

Waiting for Darkfall seems like this to me. I will make you a meal from a new recipe. When you eat it, you will see angels, and hear trumpets blow, you can eat as much as you want and never get fat, if you're bald you will grow hair, if you're fat it will make you skinny, if you're a woman it will enlarge your breasts, if you're a guy, it will make your penis hard, AND it will make you young forever.

I havent' finished the recipe yet, but I'm very close. Now, I suggest you starve yourself to death until I"m finished making it.

Or, you could have a nice juicy steak, or some pie while you're waiting. But probably you should starve yourself until I'm finished.

Well, since no one is actually making such a game, what are you going to play? Real Time Strategies, single player RPGs, First Person Shooter, Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero?

LOL, I should have clarified myself better with my Darkfall comment.  I am NOT waiting for Darkfall, gave up on that about 2 years ago.  I was just using their concept as an example of something I do like and would play.  In the meantime, I think WoW thoroughly killed my desire to play MMO's for a while.  The next one I play will have to be completely different to really draw me in.

For now, I'm happy with going to work, working on my degree, and spending time with my family.  I still look to see what's out there or coming out, though.

I will play but will keep my Vangaurd acount active. I really want a sand box mmo. It does not seem likely that will happen until it is proven to make bags of cash. Also Warhammer 40k is becoming a mmo. I hope is good but hey KOTR is inm the works also for us sci-fi junkys.

I will buy the game and give it the standard 30 days.  The question isn't whether I play it, but whether I subscribe to it.

The verdict is still out on that question.

My reason for not playing Warhammer is because I am happy with World of Warcraft.  It gets the "best in class" award for fantasy MMORP for the following reasons:

    1.) Customer Service

    2.) Bug-free environment

    3.) Meaninful updates/patches

4.) Roleplay community such as heavy Roleplay guilds.  Different servers for Normal, PvP and RPPvP players

5.) Balances race/class system both PVE and PVP

    6.) Player-made Mods encouraged.

7.) Fair billing and product prices (unlike Everexpansion)

8.) Diversity in tradeskills, talents, quests, and battlegrounds.

For a change of pace, I play EVE to get the sci-fi side...so no real motivation to switch.

Played and played and played the beta... I tried to like it... I can't...

The world is hollow.. it's probably the most un-inspiring roleplay-wise game I've played...

Noone cares to roleplay... everyone is too busy advancing... and I'm moved around A LOT...

The mechanics are ridiculously similar to everything else... the "new" things people seem to rave about, like organized-PvP or the Tome of Knowledge are pseudo-attractions which get boring fast...

The PvE is a joke... and constantly having to PvP or do boring copy/pasted quests is not my kind of fun....

Lotro is a much richer/complete world where people have not forgetting the Roleplay part of these online RPGs....

I like Mythic... but I won't be playing another boring clone....

    ..Cake..

Probably the best way to design an MMORPG for roleplay, would be to not have any combat at all. None. No PvE, and no PvP.

KOTOR? Yea, in like 3 years maybe. You're going to wait for 3 years before you play anything, just in case KOTOR turns out to be good?

Yeah, if you go and buy a car even a used car you get to try it before you buy it but I guess that the devs doesn't think that you should be allowed to try their product before you buy it.

I am not really excited about this game simply because as soon as I see another class based limited optioned game where they have ogre type playable characters I get disappointed immediately. I am currently very bored with that whole concept, so I don;t jump for joy when I see another one.  I would love to see a game that has one race .. human and in order to be other things in the  game you can either morph or make a suit for it. To be a bear you make a bear suit, to be a devil you make a devil outift rather than a predetermined class with certain abilities. I want my choices back, and I want a game where I can access all in game content from one character rather than having to create a ton of characters to accomplish this. I am not holding my breath though, I do not see much hope on the horizon.

If i can;t find a game like that I will keep playing guild wars, and guild wars 2 until I do.  I expect it to be a long wait. I am not saying i will never play this game, just I am not all hyped up about it. I will wait and see what  friends think about it, I may even give it a try, but I don;t expect i will ever be able to really like this game because of  it's limitations.

Why not? Open beta is coming up.  I always put down some cash and get the Beta key and play it before launch.  If I don't like it, I transfer the balance to another game I like.  If WAR doesn't work out for me, I'll transfer the balance to SPORE (which I'll buy anyway).

    *edit* gamestop FTW

  • daemondaemon Member UncommonPosts: 680

I'll try the open beta but I wont buy unless a few things happen,..

PVE has to be done well not just the PVP.

GOA handles things nicely during the Open Beta for Europe.

    Economy is at least decent.

    Like...

    or

Please let me know if you find any good roleplaying there.  I didn't.

Well I must say im on the fence about buying it.  I have played it and I do think its really a well made game.

It seems to fix  alot of the stuff I complained about in WoW.

It just feels like ive already played it, maybe its just me because I dont read the lore or quests.

I just really want something really really different. I guess if all my friends buy it I probably will also.

My current computer cannot run it and it is an EA game, so I surely wait and see and certainly do not trust any hype.

  • PelagatoPelagato Member UncommonPosts: 673

War didnt catch my atention that much.... kinda like AION more...

There is a game where you can play in a bear suit. It's called Second Life.

  • devilisciousdeviliscious Member UncommonPosts: 4,359

Yea but with that bear unit can I beat the guy in the tele tubbie outfit down like the dog who stole the tv guide, then loot his corpse for 1m gp and  parade his tele tubby head around in the middle of  the town center? now if i could do that I might consider it. lol I want to kill everyone i see in every way imaginable .. on the same character  in whatever I choose to wear. why is that so hard? LOL
