unless its 64 bit vista its not built for 4 gb its built for 3gb but i have :
amd 4800+
2gb ram
7900gtx
vista 32
I was in an 80 vs 80 seige and had 5 ctd in a row but i turned pell effects down to just me and poof no loag no crash as soon as the seige finished turend it back up.
First up... yeah its amazing how people forget how unstable WoW was at release. Bugs and CTD galore.
But after playing 6 hours on the weekend (I know, not alot, but all i had time to play), I only crashed once. I liked it, yes some of the NPC pathing was out, and I didn't play a pet class (hate pets :P).
But overall this game IS READY for release. Cant understand people thinking it isn't.
Yea. I may have some issues with this game, but bugs and not being ready for realease are not included in those issues. I played almost all weekend and only ran into a couple minor bugs, had excellent frame rate at all times. They could probably release tomorrow and the vast majority of people would be happy with the product as is(provided the known issues are fixed in a timely fashion).
Sort of eerie how the apologists in this thread say the exact same things the AOC apologists were saying a few months back. Sort of a deja vu situation in many ways. "Its a beta", "miracle patches", "supposed to be unfinished", "all games release unfinished & with bugs" etc etc. All I can say is... we'll see.....
as a beta tester my experience is that, Most off the major patches in beta where Mythic put in alot of new stuff, meant that bugs (new or reintroduced) did appear. Sometimes making the game very unstable and leading to Server crashes or CTD. BUT everytime Mythic had been able to fix it in very short time.
So when last patch 2 weeks ago did make the game unstable and made alot off people CTD , why shouldn't it be buisness as usuall. I have no reason to think that Mythic is not able to address the issues OP mention before launch.
After playing preview weekend this game should not launch for a month and a half at least. It is a little buggy and unstable in normal PvE areas and playable. But in areas with other people it can get almost unplayable and many times already I have CTD. I have CTD 10 times over the course of this weekend (and I haven't been playing excessively). But the CTD only happens around mass groups of other people. The monster pathing is atrocious and seriously needs to be dealt with soon and it can make things very frustrating (if your a pet class your screwd cause your pet is basically 10 minutes behind you). If they dont fix these problems I fear it will follow the same path as Vanguard or AoC. The game is actually very good and very fun its just needs to be fixed up.

You do realize Windows Vista takes up 1.8 gb or so of RAM right? You should be at the minimum have 3gb of RAM if you want to run Vista.
Bug crushing is taking place within the next week and 6 days before Open Beta, and then they have another 11 days during that period to fix bugs.
Its going to work out marvelously.
I was gonna say the same thing. Dude you need to dedicate 2gig of ram to 64 alone!

GO buy more ram and quit being a PC noob.
Or set up a Readyboost flash drive to bolster your RAM. Not as good as adding actual RAM, of course but a lot better than constant paging.

Not really. All the problems that have been mentioned are easily fixable in the next few weeks. There is no need for a "Miracle" just a normal patch. And since some of the CTD problems have been tracked for weeks previously it quite likely they can track many of them down by release.
the equivocations of "supposed to be unfinished" are of course crap like they always have been. But people saying they can be fixed by release are not being unreasonable.
And Mythic has shown a good track record of tracking things down a progressively fixing it.
Unlike AoC which truly did need a miracle patch and breaks as many things as they fix in thier patches and therefore clearly have rather bad process management.
Vista and 2gb ram is not good at all. You will have trouble running most decent games memory wise.
While I agree the specs aren't optimal, it should still run WAR. At least he's not posting the specs of a shared video PC or the sort. I was just stating my distaste for people that feel as though a person's rig is in some way tied to how cool they are. Just blows my mind sometimes is all.
He does run WAR, but he has the typical problems of Vista with low memory; crashes and slow downs. Plus I am pretty sure Mythic is focusing on XP for the most part as far as QA priorities.
Its not the rig, its Vista. It would work fine if it was XP. 2GB is what I run right now on many games. But I don't use Vista.
Think that four years from now you will be able to say "lol I remember when the pathing was horrible and the goblins blah blah blah" and everybody will think omg this guy roolz!!!!
Makes me want to puke next time I hear that. Really its fine when you're on the beta forums for the game like 3 or 4 months out, but I'm not blind to what I've seen over the past few years. Vanguard and AoC are some extreme cases where you found payroll apologists defending the game with an extreme furiosity up until launch. Praise the game or you're a troll!
You call them negatrons, or something like that, but they've consistently been right for the launch of every game in the past two or three years. They make observations based on what's been laid on the table, but the truth is invalidated until everyone buys a gold disc and finds that the negatrons have been right all along.
Vanguard really jaded me as a gamer, and honestly I haven't participated in another game launch ever since. I've been tempted by a few of them, so I sit on these forums and read all the late beta posts, and when someone says something negative.. its truth. It may take a two or three months after launch for everyone to realize it, and six months down the road the "WoW killer" is comfortably sitting with the rest of the lower rung.
Ok sorry, lol /rant off
I'm an RvR fan who loves PVP, and in the back of my mind I've already committed to WAR. I'm not so much concerned with bugs and stability as long as there is nothing gamebreaking, and yeah a lot of it will be ironed out. Quest bugs will still be a problem at launch if they are around now, same with creature pathing.. every patch has the potential of neutralizing a previous fix, and bugs rear their head over and over like a plague. It will all work out in the end.. this is the first game that's really caught my attention for a long time for a reason other than "its the new thing on the block."

Nobody will listen to you.We have all seen this before now havent we?
From my more than 4 months experience in WAR beta my impression is that WAR is very poslished game. The only problem was after latest patches, when it become very buggy. It looks that they implemented some network optimizations because I have very sync problems. If they do not succeed to fix them at least they will turn of that optimizations and game will work fine again. About CTD, for so long I have no one even after the latest buggy patches.

Like I said in the other post similar to this, I updated my card(Nvidia 7800) and everything that had to do with CTD's came down to me playing for three hours straight with my PC making weird clicking noises like it was trying to prevent a massive crash. Even though it might have nothing to do with your PC and all to do with their servers, updating your card wouldn't hurt now would it?
Originally posted by Pheace Originally posted by xblast5000 Originally posted by Ender4 Their internal server is supposed to be 3 months ahead of the test server, if that is true I'd expect at least one massive patch and probably two before release. That is probably enough to get things ready.
Thats what they said about AoC lmao, obviously that wasn't true.
The internal server is roughly 2 weeks ahead actually, according to someone who was swiftly told to shut up because he wasn't allowed to say that ^^
Even if this is true the last major patch was august 7th so that means they have over a month of code ready to go into the game now and 3 more weeks worth of work before release. 7 weeks of work can really put a lot of polish on the game.

well people were saying for months that age of conan was utter rubbish, i dont hear that coming from war closed beta. you get a vibe about a game.

Go to crucial.com . Run their tester and they'll show you several upgrade paths. Pick one and order all from the same site. Took me 5 minutes and the RAM was there next day. Cheap too.

Haha, they already got them two scabby companies put to shame. Mythic has already released a successful MMO. We know how they deal with fixes, patches, and new content. It has shown in the past. Mythic got their shat together and the game is close to flawless

Ive heard that sentence about 10000000000000 time WAR is like 10000000000 time beter than AoC already you just CANT compare both .
