OP i feel your pain i could not find an mmo that could keep me on it for more than a month but then i got to play WAR closed Beta and i have to say its WAY worth the wait
I played the open beta of Ryzom way back before it was initially delayed, and boy did it stink. I ended up writing a big long flame on their forums about how awful the character creation was. A week later they decided to delay release for 6 months...I haven't had it in me to try it again. It's was just so very French.
having played games like WoW and Lotro i've gotten used to limited character customizations.
Ryzom's strength is in its in game customization, custom spells, gear and stuff like that.
Anyway if looking like everyone else bothers you, you can color gear on creation, get hair cuts and tattoos.
You also can mix and match racial gear sets and even wear different armor types light, medium and heavy for a unique look.
Ryzom in my opinion is one of the best games out right now.

the graphics arent WoW or Lineage 2, but the gameplay makes up for it...
