I know, you are all getting tired of these WAR vs WoW posts, but really, even though we all are really tired of WoW , I still have not seen anything to suggest that WAR is not a step up from WoW.
Almost all the other features of WAR seem to be superior to WoW's:
1.) Almost open world, where you can travel from one zone to another.
2.) Amazing PvE that is FAR greater then almost anything we have seen before.
3.) PvP that has no equal
4.) A huge world comparing to other MMOs and far more storys that can go along with it.
5.) Careers that everyone can feel useful in
In WoW's favour: they have been out for almost 4 years they have an economy to match it.
Or are there more WoW features that will blow WAR out of the water that I don't know about? (I only got to level 60 on WoW before I became extremely bored.).
Please understand that I am not a WAR fanboy, in fact I desperately want to know the answers if there was any other superior MMO fantasy games out there. Just have not seen one yet.
PS If you can't take a joke don't respond.

Because the combat blows and the visual presentation is dark and uninteresting in most areas.
I like to know what game your talking about because its not WAR.
PS You obviously don't get it.
dammit... I went through your entire post putting red text in to show you that your wrong, and then I read the last line just before I post.. lol
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
Well if they like their game constantly reset and everything they spent hundreds of hours getting being made useless every expansion they should definitely not leave.
Also if they prefer for their PvP to all take place inside of a very small number of battlegrounds in which 90% of the other players lack any form of competitive nature and are just there to grind out some virtual number that will let them have even more ridiculous gear that will be made useless when the next expansion comes they should definitely not leave.
Also if they like to spend endless hours raiding the same scripted dungeon over and over two to three times a week to get more ridiculous gear that will be made useless the next time an expansion comes out they should definitely not leave.
Also if they like to play solo and grind out thousands of quests barely ever interacting with players other than to grind out said virtual numbers to get said ridiculous armor that will then be made useless when said expansion comes out they should not leave.
Also if they don't like World PvP and want to support a game that would rather divert PvP combat into meaningless arcade games instead of World PvP they should definitely leave.
Also if they prefer for their combat to be between 60-99% CC they should definitely not leave.
Also if they enjoy Chuck Norris and Murloc Barrens type chat they should not leave.
Damn look at all these reasons and I am getting cut off for work. I could go on all day!

Yeah someone got it.
You just made 2 counter points to every other person on these forums. Everyone else says WAR is too much like WoW and that its combat is too similar and the graphics look like WoW, but somehow you find the opposite?
The combat doesn't blow. It is obious that you have nevef played the game, and if you did, you only played with the intention of NOT liking the game. The combat is on par with every MMO out there in terms of pacing, but excels in the area of the amount of abilities available for your use.
sigh... I wish it was possible for these two communities to get along, or at least leave eachother alone. They are both great games in my opinion, one for PVE, one for PVP. They will both have plenty of full servers for years to come..
Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV
um because the WAR pve sucks? I was in beta, the instances are horrible, the combat is slow and incredbly boring for melee class who just get up close and hit a button..1...2...hit another...and it goes on and on until a morale ability they want lights and then they click that.....how can that in any way be considered fun? Personally I find EVERY class in WoW to be so much more fun than any of them in WAR. Throughout the entire game it seems like there is a lack of decent PvE content, and its all easy crap that a person could play with their eyes closed. RvR is at least a challenge, but still, who wants to spend all their time playing an MMO doing PvP? I want good PvE, and I want good PvP, and I want new content to keep me busy. How would new content work in WAR? New PvE content would be horrible, and "new" PvP content wouldn't really be that new, as the only things they could add are more scenarios, higher renown ranks, and more PvP gear. All MMO's have a problem with a lack of new PvP content, but at least with WoW I can do something fun that isn't PvP for once. And the mastery system in WAR is horrible, much less customization than the WoW talent point system. And don't even get me started on that thing mythic claims is crafting.
First off I find all points being either also applicable to WoW or making me doubt them. WoW got an open world, the PvE is good, you got the typical classes and some variations of them and the world is big. Regarding PvP in WAR I'd say that different people enjoy different forms of PvP, and I got my doubts about WAR's PvP being superior to that in Guild Wars. Your one and only point that truly sets WAR apart from WoW is the PvP, and for that alone the major part of the WoW community would not leave since they aren't playing mainly for the PvP.
Apart from that the WAR would need to be heavily advertised in order to actually get known to the most WoW players since there aren't "MMO Addicts". Additionally WoW players do the same quests every day, kill the same mobs and in general enjoy farming; do not expect people who pay money to do the same quest every day to actually weigh bad and good things in two games.
Considering that the major part of the WoW community plays for PvE and that WAR has featured itself as a PvP game I do not think that we'll see any form of major drop in WoW subscribers, and rise in WAR ones. Finally: conformity - when many people come together they tend to the same thing; WoW got a big player base and many only play because their friends do it, but they got no friends to play with in WAR.
Maybe I should of bolded that last line.

Yes, because NOBODY has EVER compalined about slow, clunky, awkward combat in WAR.
Ever.
It CERTAINLY wasn't one of the major issues in the beta, even back before CB was shut down so the game could be reworked, and everyone DEFINITELY agrees it was entirely fixed since then...
/sarcasm
I don't think its possible to have a WAR vs WOW thread without igniting a massive flame war, even if you meant it as a joke.

Thats something that they said would be corrected ASAP. They know it and they know its a big problem and they will fix it.
Its Beta what do you expect.

Yes, i'm sure the entire combat system will be revamped (recoded!) in the next 3.5 weeks. They were just saving it till the end, for giggles.
The problem is timing in the code--this isnt something that can just be smoothed over quickly. Big chunks of it have to be ripped out and redone from the ground up. Most people assumed that this was going to be entirely fixed when they shut down beta for several months, then were shocked to see that almost nothing had changed. They had PLENTY of time back then to do it, and for whatever reason, chose not to.
The system that is there now is going to be there for a while.
And, beta is effectively over. We have 1.5 weeks till OB, then another till headstart. The time for major alterations has passed.
I'll be there--i have a CE preorder from a long time ago--but i see major trouble for this game at release. It will be a crying shame if this one flounders too...

It doesn't have to be. There is nothing wrong with the code. There needs to be smoothness adjustments added, as already stated by Mark Jacobs. I don't understand where people get the slow combat from, as it's pretty much the same as WoW at lower levels, and definitely speeds up once you get more attacks later on.
The current problem that most people are experiencing is due to a bug they introduced when they added the Combat Responsiveness patch back at the beginning of 3.3. Currently the global cool down is 1.4 seconds, but the game doesn't refresh the icon until 2 seconds, its a display bug. When you are mashing the buttons withuot waiting for a cooldown, sometimes you interrupt your ability. What they plan on adding is a .3 second cushion before your next ability fires off, that way there is ample time for the animation to finish and the abiilty to go through. Another thing they are fixing is the display bug I mentioned above that is showing the global cool down to be 2s instead of the 1.4s
You don't have to recode the entire combat system to change the GCD variable from a 2 to a 1.5. Wtf, seriously.

Actually the global cooldown already works. it's the global cooldown being displayed by the UI that is incorrect. And also that if you push an ability while another one is already firing, sometimes it gets interrupted.

No.
The global cooldown is just part of it. You certainly can change the GCD to anything you want easily, but that doesnt solve the problem. Combat itself is, as I said, slow, clunky, awkward. Tweaking the GCD gets you combat that is slightly faster, clunky and awkward.
If you can't be bothered to know what you're talking about (obviously you have not read or even heard of the epic discussions about the combat system prior to the beta shutdown, and after it came back up), its not worth having a conversation with you.
if they speed up the combat to a insane pace they better drop the damage done cuz i dont want battles to last a few seconds. i want a good 10-15 second or so battles.
seriously tho if i log on at some point and tanks wearing hundreds of pounds of armor an wielding big ass swords are swinging 100 swings a second like they are shooting up a combo of steriods/meth i will personaly murder everyone who bitched about combat speed in thier sleep... with my mad ninja skills:P
I feel sorry for the people who couldn't get into WAR enough in beta and will not be buying it. Not only will their issues likely be resolved on release, but this has been the most fun I've had in a mmorpg in a looooong time. I am thrilled to know that I love this game, especially considering I wasn't sure before I played it and did fear like some, that it would be like WoW. It's not, and that's a great thing. It's like an advanced version of some of the best games so certainly it has a few WoW features (cosidering WoW originally was supposed to be a Warhammer game and is popular ) but the look and feel and actual content are leaps and bounds above what we've played before. A sequal to many games this feels like, a new and improved way to game. I can't wait!

i don't know if this will help but i watched an interview i think tenton hammer not sure with paul barnett stating something to the effect of warhammer is like the greatest hits of mmo's with 20% innovation i think i got that right also i think he said something to the effect of WoW is like the beatles and if we wanted to be the beatles you'll get the monkees said something about being like the heavy metal mmo something to the effect of led zepplin imo i'll take zepplin i like there brand of music more (not to say the beatles aren't anygood just can't listen to happy music all day)but the point being while this may look and feel like WoW to some degree it really is a different kind of game my god my first rvr battle was awesome the fact i can do this stuff from 1 on is awesome piblic quests are a breath of fresh air too this game is turning out to be top notch in imo
That was just great "Open zoned world" . Sound like The bigger-smaller mother-father
Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration
