Have you ever been banned from a game?

tvalentinetvalentine Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 4,216

i was just perma banned from Lineage2 after 16 months of no warnings or temp bans. Also i was in the beta for about a month, and my sister-in-law's account (trial account that i invited) and my brother's account (which i invited back 15 free days) were both banned, and they charged my brother 15$ the day before the ban, and the 3rd day into his free 15 free days. I dont really feel bad about my account because ... idunno why, i think its because i just dont feel like giving them money anymore. Especially after what they did with my brother and sister's account, and it really is just a game, that i dont see any point in getting upset about

So i have never seen a thread like this, and i would like to ask the community .... Have you ever been banned from a game before? And what game?

EDIT: Fixed typos.

If it was 'just now', call the bank, cancel that payment.

Since the accounts are banned anyway, you lose nothing.

And yes, got banned from WoW a while back, but i kind of wanted it

Was dead bored with the game, had infact sold that account (but reseted the password and got the account back). I would lose nothing, since i was leaving, so, for 1-2 weeks, i simply insulted every single "less-smart" player i saw. And not just calling them "hey stupid" or something, heavy insults!

No, not talking about the general noob, talking about those people that cant find their own ears.

So, obviously i got banned, except it was 1 day after the game time ended, i wasnt even playing it anymore

    Boy, they were slow...

yeah they are disputing the charge now. And my sister gave NCsoft an earful when they started to ask her questions (neither her or my brother had anything to do with what i did), and they really didnt help at all, so now shes going through the CC company.

I've never been banned from an MMO. I've been banned from several Pokemon MUDs for spamming the global chat command with innuendo using a good Telnet client, but that was a decade ago and before I seriously played anything.

I have never been banned but should have been in UO.  I duped gold and exploited all sorts of bugs whenever I could. There was some website that would list all of the known bugs.

I have at least 2 or 3 account's for every mmo on the market.  I have been banned once from at least all of them.

I've never been banned from a game that I was paying for. I've been banned for a LOT of "free" games that I wasn't paying for.

Games that you pay for usually have some standard of customer service. So besides the obvious fact that they don't want to lose a paying customer, you also don't have to worry about getting into a fight with some $#!@#!% moderator, which is the most common cause of bannings from free games. The only people I've known that got banned from pay games are people that were either cheating in some outrageous fashion, were doing something highly illegal or both.

With free games its much easier to get banned. Just find a "moderaotr" or "game operator" or "admin" or whatever they call themselves and disagree with them. You will be banned so fast it will make your head spin. Thus the reason why I've been banned from a great many of these games.

Sometimes, capitalism isn't a bad thing after all.

Only MMO related thing I have ever been banned from is the SWG forums.

Strangely enough it was just after the NGE hit.........

I think I was amongst hundreds though lol.  The whole SWG forums turned into a huge ball of fun, was extremely funny.  Well it was and it wasn't if you know what I mean.

    Banned from WoW.......

COD Scamming was so much fun too....

I was banned for talking about SWG in WoW. I was playing on an RPG server and talking in barrens with a couple of other folks about SWG and someone ratted us out.

Nothing would've happened except I called the GM a jackass. I had complained/reported several times about people talking about beastiality (among other things) but nothing happened. Those conversations went on for hours and nothing was done about that. But god forbid you talk about another game and ZOMGWTFBBQ you've committed a sin against all humanity.

I'll call any inept GM/moderator/person in charge a jackass if they fit the description.

I have never been banned from anything except the AoC forums. That's what happens when you tell a dev what you really think about his POS game I guess.

Have you ever been banned from a game?

No I never have been banned from a Game/Mmorpg.

Got 2 temp bans from mmorpg.com ( and rightfully so at the time) about 2 years ago and thats about the only bans I ever have gotten online.

  • ketrineketrine Member Posts: 285

Never banned from a game or forum, but I did go off topic once here and got a warning.  I didn't think they did much of that here considering some things I've read but I guess they do!

I felt very guilty too, although I said nothing mean.

Oh? And Saints are bad? I seem to remember in the lexicon of philosophies that being good was "good".

    And what did you do?

Also "no" I've never been banned for anything. Had I ever done anything against the rules and been caught I'd be man enough to admit that I was caught and just deal with it.

I don't see why some people break a rule, get banned and get all bent out of shape. If you did something wrong then own up to it (well not to us) and just accept it and move on. Takes greater strength to admit you had done wrong. Seem to remember that there are parables about this.

I mean, it's not like you're evil for cheating in a video game. So don't take it personally and just don't do it again. or do it and don't be surprised if you get caught again.

lol no, i dont use 3rd party programs unless they are legal UI Addons, i was doin the other no-no. Which is surprising, they'll ban accounts wich buy the stuff but they wont ban the accounts botting and distributing the stuff .... I went to dwarven village one night and there had to be 2 dozen players with no gear on, selling adena. I wonder where their bans are ..... but i guess there really is no excuse for me to not have gotten a ban, i just thought perma banning me, my brother, and my sister's account for one offense in the last 16 months was a bit harsh.

EDIT: lol and surprisingly enough i got banned the day i won the drawing for blizzcon tickets, i guess thats why i really wasnt sad about my account.

Yeah, my first MMORPG was Lineage 1, and they had a message scroll system in-game which let you not only sent mail to other players, but you could drop them on the ground for anyone who happened along to pick them up and read them.

The company was fanatical about never allowing anyone to discuss another game in the open chats, and before I left I dropped about 200 scrolls around aden telling everyone to come play DAOC.  (as well as mailed them to every name I could think of)

That got both of my accounts perma-bans.

This is actually very funny.  Most creative way to get banned so far IMO.

Wonder why they were so insecure about other games?
