AOC is the best MMO out there

and I don't go by subscription numbers, then WoW would be. WoW is old, boring and childish - as is a lot of the flameposts on this board.

Is AoC the perfect game? No.

Does it have issues, bugs, lacks? Yes.

Was AoC rushed, things missing? Yes.

Still, I'd rather be playing AoC, than being bored to death with the other games out there that is either more limited, old, boring, cloned.

Notice the flamers don't really have any option to playing AoC, they are either waiting (!) for another game, or going to games like Vanguard, Tabula Rasa...

Well, if you're waiting for a game, you're not really playing it are you...

What about upcoming games?

Well Warhammer is soon to be released, and from what is said, it's less buggy and more polished. And will probably have more subscribers than AoC.

I don't really care, it still looks like a boring WoW-clone, alot of people seem to think it's just boring.

The only game that could really challenge AoC is Darkfall.

However Darkfall got shitty graphics, and it isn't as unlimited as you'd like it to be. Though it's a step in the right direction.

Until something better shows up I'll continue subscribing to AoC. Not only because it's the game I prefer to play, but it's a support for someting new and innovative in the MMO buisness. I might leave if I see a better game, but not before.

Agreed, AoC could be a very good mmorpg... but it isn't. Atleast not yet.

Maybe it is, but overall i disagree, because i think you should try Warhammer  for yourself first.

AoC already got pwnd by every MMO out there. So there isn't a "challenge" anytime soon for AoC. Unless the game itself improves.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game, AoC could use a healthy dose of fan support. I loved the game at first, but I couldn't keep my subscription up after reaching mid level and advancing with my guild of 200+ members, only to be let down by the lack of content, half the server leaving, my guild's ventrillo going from 50+ members online at prime time to around 5, etc. etc..

I do not understand your logic of supporting the game based on its innovation, however. Besides the combat and graphics, it's a very tradional MMORPG, except with a heap of major flaws.

I also disagree that AoC will remain unchallenged in the coming months and years besides Darkfall. Warhammer will drive away a large chunk of the subscription base of alot of MMOs out there, including Age of Conan. Same thing for Darkfall, Mortal Online, Earthrise, all the games that attract AoC's PVP crowd. Age of Conan is facing serious threats on all fronts, in the media and competition, with its own withering fanbase and with the development team itself.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

This folks is an example of why crappy devs are able to continue spitting out crappy games. because there are always people with low enough standards to pay them to do so.

So AoC is not perfect, has bugs and is rushed. And its the best MMO? Nice logic. But its your money, I can think of better MMO's spend my cash on.

You think AoC isn't limited? I quit AoC because it is THE most limited game out there. There is no exploration whatsoever, everywhere you go there is a load screen, and the quests have you constantly travelling through the same tired zones, over and over again.

And by the way, Vanguard is coming into its own, and that game is FAR from limited.

I enjoyed the combat and the quality of the character models in AoC. That is all. Put those into a game like VG, and I'll be good.

Waiting is better than spending 200 bucks a year on a game you are just settling on.

If i wanted to settle id play perfect world or any of the other 1000 f2p games.

Now if you like Aoc more power to ya, its not a terrible game, It just wasnt for me.

    Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7

Yar, I play AOC too and I really like it.

I'm not sure if I like the logic of one poster that we have 'low standards' and are making it possible for disreputable developers to fleece the community; as if you, and those that nod vigorously in agreement,  are the last word on some universal mmorpg standard and have 'the formula' that we poor noobs are too dizzy and dumb to see.  That's a bit arrogant really and I have heard similarly absurd and elitist arguments used throughout my life in art, literature, politics, philosophy, film etc. I used to believe these people when I was a lowly undergraduate, but the more educated I became the more I realised how fake and hollow their claims are. It's the same with games, so please just accept that those who like things that you do not might just be as smart, clever and critical as you 'obviously' are.

I don't think AOC is an 'amazing' game, but it is good and anyway, I can't remember feeling 'amazed' by any mmorpg in ages.

Oh, and I think this might be an important point. I don't just play AOC. If I put all my hopes and dreams into AOC and played it 3-6 hours a day (more at weekends) then I would probably hate it too. If I play ANY mmoprg for more than 4-6 hours, guess what...I get really bored. Whenever I feel I need a change, I fire up LOTRO or VGSOH, or I fire up the PS3 and play GTA IV, or I play my guitar and drink beer, or I read Marvel zombies or the Punisher MAX, or I watch a horror movie. Sometimes I even chat and hang-out with my wife (he he). You gotta play casual to avoid burnout, which is probably why the casual gamer 'type' I belong too, albeit a minority, still likes AOC.

However, I am no fanboi. When I tire of a game I move on. That's why I have wow, swg, coh, cov, eve, eq2 etc under me belt. When AOC bores me totally, I will bow out...but without all the hysteria and hissy-fits of the serial haters.

    Regards

Aoc is the worst game out there. Any of the Asian MMO's beat this to death.

I wont go into any more depth onthis since its hard to type while LMAO......AoC best game out there haahaaahhhahaaaaaa  thats really funny.

If  AOC had been even remotely close to what was promised then yes it would have been a real contender.  But it is not and I do not believe it ever will be while in the hands of Funcom.

And to be honest I am sick and bloody tired of good graphics being used as an excuse for mediocrity.  Good graphics should be the icing on the cake.  Good graphics when attached to a solid game engine are a nice addition.  By themselves they are a bullshit distraction and to dismiss other games simply because of graphics is a fools game.

Gameplay is king.  Graphics are just the spit and polish.

But then that is my opinion just like the OP is expressing his/hers.  Doesn't make either of them any more true or valid and the OP would do well to remember that.

Nothing elitist about it. People don't pay for the crap, the crap disappears. People with low standards pay for the crap, the crap stays. As long as people support shit devs and their games, they'll continue. If noone buys the shit games from idiot devs, the rest of the devs in the future learn, and we get better games.

    WAR looks like WoW?

    really?  take a look:

    now WoW:

    are you guys BLIND??

by the way:  WAR has armor dyes, every armor piece can be dyed seperatly and has at least 2 different areas for dyes.

plus you can add trophies to armor which makes every set look different again.

up to 5 trophies (at the same time - there are hundreds of trophies) can be added and rearranged and switched and reused.

kill e.g. an enemy King and hang his crown on your platemail and EVERYONE can see you wearing it.

trophies have no stats. it is just for diversity.

plus: WAR has a lot more items and armor than AoC

    any comments?

I agree with you. What is really going on here is you got these Trolls and Drama Queens running around these Forums 24-7 looking for people that disagree with their views so they can gang up on them. It is sad this happens, but I know it eats them alive because there are so many people that don't jump on their bandwagon of hate and they can't figure out why.

I see woody is all alone on the crusade to save AOC. AA isn t around much, hell Fion went poof and pre release he was an avid fanboy. At least now AA comes here as his job and doesn t throw his WAR stabs in there any chance he can get. Either way, if you like the game great go play it , i will agree though it is one of the worst games i ve played.

Dude... How can you say they *don't* look exactly alike?

The guy in WAR is holding a weapon.. The guy in WoW is holding a weapon... WoW came first.. So Mythic *obviously* ripped that off from WoW. And, look.. the WAR guy is so weak, he needs *two* hands to hold his! Talk about weak-sauce! ROFL2HWeapons!

Oh and notice how there's the use of color in both? What... you *really* think Mythic thought to use color all on their own? Pfft... another obvious rip-off. Go back to your WAR forums, fanboi.

Besides, this is the forum for AoC... the single most awesome, stable and not-lacking-any-content-whatsoever MMO ever released.

(yes... I'm being extremely sarcastic... in case there was any doubt)
