Yeah, the video didn't show ALL the features in the game. That doesn't mean they are not there. That is what beta and free trial is about. It's a game, and you risk only loosing, what $50 after all. Even if it does manage to limp out the gates in Greece or Russia or somewhere - who cares???? It won't be in the USA this year and that is it's largest market.
War will be out though and so will Lich King... Taking all the subscribers.... and there's no way Darkfall is going to take any players away from games like War or Lich King.

Pretty good points, Polar. As I said in another topic, this is the best of times for fans. There are no bugs, no balance issues, no performance problems. Only anticipation in full bloom.
Once we see what DF looks like first thing in the morning, without makeup and before she has had her coffee, reality will set in.
I think this thread is a testemant to the fact that darkfall believers arent just fanboi's and carebear cry babies. We do expect a good game. And we are realistic enough to know that darkfall might not deliver. But we have one thing all the other fanboi's don't.
A company making a game to please us for what we desire as the sandbox / pvp community and not a rehash WoW clone where pvp is just slightly more stressed (Aoc / War). We have faith in the indie company because they are catering to our specific community and not to the wallets of the masses.
And for what Aventurine is... this video is pretty impressive. They just might deliver .

I do agree this is the best time for the fans with the excitement of the new video and the anticipation of beta and launch soon, and I’m happy for them, and if this had happened many years ago I would probably be one of them cheering away and would probably be arguing with troll vapor haters like myself.
I certainly think they deserve this after showing support and defending this game for so many years before they finally got something really substantial, after so many have given up, myself included, that is the sort of dedication that has to be admired, but like I said it’s a good video, but its not that good.
If it really was that amazing then most people would be saying it was, and I would be admitting I was wrong, because I’m sure everyone would agree I’m obviously and undeniably the only universally accepted bastion and beacon of objective honesty and integrity concerning anything Darkfall related.
But its not that good, and there’s still a lot that remains unseen, and there’s still a lot of room for improvement in some areas, and even most of the fans accept that.
And this new video is only the start, theres so much more to do, and theres only 4 months left.
And despite this new video, no matter how good it is, I still have that nagging feeling of déjà vu whenever beta and launch are supposedly yet again coming "soon".
I sincerely hope this will not be yet another non event, and that things will actually happen “soon” and that we wont still be arguing about what Darkfall is really like, and when beta will be starting, and when it will be releasing during 2009.

I was a closed beta player of Warhammer Online. I can tell you it is a polished Beta. However, these points must be made:
Warhammer is being released way too early. They have chopped major cities and classes from the game to hit a deadline. The classes will be patched in later. Let's hope the cities are too. Some of the animations are still .. average. Warhammer has been in development for ~ 3 years. I have enjoyed playing Warhammer, but do not plan to subscribe. Once you've hit level 30, you've done everything the game has to offer. The only thing left is massive sieges with other players for NPC cities. Beta testing was done for over a year in Warhammer. Crafting in Warhammer is ridiculous. That's being VERY generous. You can do one of three things..
Darkfall is being released 'feature complete'. The Prestige classes are not going to be in at launch. The Developers have stated they will be patched in later. The animations are not quite as good as Warhammers, true. Darkfall has been in development for over 7 years, from its first inception. Darkfall has over 20 crafting skills to utilise.
Now, to answer some of your statements:

Since the beta video was released, the trend of US to rest of the world (because you seem to think there is the 'US' and the rest of the world) would have increased to the US Side. I'll have to say that if you think it's not going to be released this year (odds are 0 to paraphrase you) then it won't be released in the EU as well. Right?
War will be out. So will Wrath of the Lich King. Can you tell me how many players of those games will stop playing them once Darkfall comes out? I thought not. Can you tell me how many people will play those games for the first time? I thought not. I will not be purchasing Wrath of the Lich King either.
There is a way Darkfall will take those players. I played WoW, I beta'd Warhammer. I don't play either of them, and it's due to my interest in Darkfall. So there's one. I'm sure I'm not unique in this world..

Some of you guys seem to get very upset whenever someone is critical of Darkfall. The OP made some really thoughtful comments and one has already called him a troll. However, some of you are VERY quick to classify people who will be playing Warhammer as 14 year olds.
Do you see the problem in that? My theory is: Treat other MMO gamers as how you would want them to treat you. Don't call other MMO gamers and label them as 14 year olds but then stand very guarded to darkfall and throw around the word "troll" like its the newest coolist hip thing to do. It doesn't make sense.
Now, with that said, I know a lot of fans of darkfall are very nice folks but Im talking to people who say what I quoted.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I really can't stand another WoW type game, seriously I am SO sick of playing with kids.

It's not. It's going to be much better. That said, I think WAR is going to be the best levelbased, theme parkgame of 2008.

Better than a bug ridden outdated looking empty game world with poorly modelled and animated characters engaged in one shotting each other everywhere.
Darkfall and War are aimed at totally different markets so it probably won't take players away from War.
