Yeah i really like the way war is handling things. Increasing the lvl cap every year and a half is retarded. I didn't have fun in Wow until i hit lvl cap and then they freakin raise it and make playing feel like a choir again until you hit lvl cap. Lower lvl cap is also good because you can lvl alts. I don't car if you roll the op classes playing other classes is fun. Keep the lvl cap at fourty and lets have fun kicking the crap out of each other. War is going to be great.
Mythic has assured us they will never be raising the level cap
Please tell me you are joking.
hey, if you like putting years of effort into a character, just to have everything erased every time the level cap increases, be my guest and buy WotLK.
How are they going to implement new abilities without raising the lvl cap? Are we going to be stuck with a stagnant set of moves once we hit 40?
Who the hell says you can't implement new abilities without raising the level cap? Seriously, I'm tired of comparing everything with WoW, I won't be surprised if you will start threads like: "WAR vs WoW mud"

You are in completely the wrong frame of mind.
You are obviously a WoW player and I don't hesitate to think that it's probably the only MMO you've ever played (or the first you ever played).
Firstly, it doesn't even matter if they don't implement new abilities for existing characters, because they can modify existing ones through tactics (simply introduce new tactics) and they will undoubtedly introduce more races (which means new careers - new mechanics, new abilities, new tactics and new moral abilities) into the game as time goes on. Mythic has set up WAR to accomodate future career additions.
Secondly, I wouldn't be surprised if Mythic eventually decided to introduce a system where you could buy new career specific skills for renown.
Just give me the Skaven and I couldn't be happier.
Go to aldorf, enter all houses. There are one house with some skavens.... :-)
I meant as a playable race, not some graphic to drool over (And trust me, I've drooled on many occasions).
If the game is an important economic success, they may add new races (I hope so). I like Skavens too and I hope they add them.
But I dont want to dream too far. I just hope they can fix all the main problems before release, then they manage to keep the game stailized, fix bugs and exploits, then add the 4 cities... then who knows.

Do i need links? No. YOU need a good understanding of WAR, to understand what i'm getting at. I'm reasoning, not proving.
EDIT: go and take a look at what tactics do (www.wardb.com), then perhaps you'd understand. And some advice: try lurking these forums a bit more before posting, there's a wealth of information to be had here.
Of course, the main reason is that it's a lot of fun... But another reason is its potential. Mythic has assured us they will never be raising the level cap (renown cap is a different thing), meaning that your characters automatically become more valuable - as your gear isn't going to be rendered obsolete by level cap increases. Given this, everything you do to make your character better will never be considered a wasted effort. So already, Mythic has grasped the long term player base market. There is never going to be a Burning Crusade special, where we find entire Guilds quitting the game. Long term players are usually what makes the Community what it is. They are usually the ones in charge of the biggest guilds etc. I mean, you never find any 2008 players manning a Goonfleet squad do you? So, bearing in mind this longevity, end game will be evermore competitive between realms as time goes on, as there'll be very old, organized guilds and eventually, a lot of very geared characters (which is a good thing IMO, as a fight between the l33t is a lot more fun to me than a fight between the l33t and the sheet or the sheet and the sheet). Furthermore, long term players will inevitably be rolling alts, so lower level scenarios won't forever be a noob fest.... a reason in itself to reroll if you like competition at the lower levels.
To add on to this longevity factor, there is the (pretty much guaranteed) prospect of more cities opening up for RvR, as well as the addition of new and exciting careers. New and exciting careers means whole new mechanics, whole new skills and whole new moral abilities and tactics... this is unlike in MMORPGs where they simply decide to increase the level cap, just giving current classes a few more abilities. And i don't have to explain what new cities mean to you ;-)
To sum up, if you haven't pre-ordered WAR yet, or if you aren't yet planning on buying it, I would suggest doing so. WAR's long term factor far outweighs any MMORPG to date (i mean, josh said he thinks it'll be around in 30years, lol), as there are so many races and cities they could add, without screwing up the game and our current characters. And don't forget - older players usually end up being the most l33t, so i'd suggest jumping on the band wagon as soon as you can
Edit: A level cap doesn't mean that new gear won't be introduced into the game, as one person in this thread has suggested. Although I explain why further down this thread, I just thought i'd post it here too, just in case people are too lazy to scroll down :P Currently there are 3 branches of gear per career (not including stand alone armour) - PvE, RvR and Bounty Hunter... of which there are 20 sets in total divided up among said branches. Does a level cap at 40 mean that new gear can't be introduced later on in the game? No, there is nothing stopping Mythic from introducing, for example, another branch for each career, nor is there anything stopping them from introducing stand alone gear. WAR is a lot more flexible that way actually... there are numerous different set types I can think of..., for example, an 'assassin' set, which focuses on boosting a character's 1v1 capability. Any aspect of the game that requires a player to play differently can be associated with a gear set, to increase a player's effectiveness in that area. Moreover, Mythic introducing new races into the game will automatically mean a flood of new items/sets... for as you know, each career has their own gear, unlike in other fantasy MMOs, where multiple classes can use a single item. In other words, they won't just chuck a new career in the game and expect players to utilize and strive for items that are already in the game.
{Mod Edit}
What do you think the expansions will bring to the game? New dungeons maybe? New areas including new keeps sieges? More RR levels?
What rewards will these extras bring? What will the playerbase require to keep the game fresh and exciting?
They want new gear. New gear with improved looks and stats. They want to be different, and they want to compete with others - if you want to maintain a healthy playerbase that is.
Old gear gets superceded, aka obselete, supposedly wasting any time you spent on aquiring it? What tosh. It is the nature of the game to continually improve oneself in an MMO. Without that carrot you don't have a game worth playing..

I daresay there is 'a wealth of information' somewhere round here, but it's not in this thread. This thread is all about you pontificating about what direction you 'think' the game is heading in.
It is usual to back up 'quotes' from developers with links, so people in doubt can check the validity of your claims.
You don't do this, so this thread means nothing by definition.

I think that there is many reasons why people are going to be playing WAR:
Personally, I`m joining the fight because I used to paint the models a couple years ago, and I`ve become fed up with WoW. I know, I know, it`s been said time and time again that this game is not a replacement for WoW, HOWEVER-

Not a WAR hater but no. After getting burned by countless MMOs in the past, WAR needs to offer more than potential. Promises are worthless.
If WAR comes out the gates with solid gameplay with satisfying content and RvR, then it'll do well. If it's all of sudden buggy and falls apart at the seams, no matter how much Mythic hypes potential, it won't do any good. There is no potential for success in MMOs these days. It's either you deliver compelling stuff at launch or near launch (within 3 months) or it's over.
That being said, WAR has enough merits as it is to be worth playing. I just don't think potential is a good reason to play a MMO these days.
Fingis you should seriously stop posting you make yourself look really bad .
Raising lvl cap is the worst thing to do imo cause it reset everything ppl have done over the years .
Let's see.... No twinks cause gear doesn't mean anything right?
Gear means a hell of a lot of a lot, my dps tripled when I got my lvl 6 rhealm gear.
Now you saying Mythic will never have a gear chase. If they don't have a gear chase, people will get bored and leave the game.
A new game is like the 'unnamed politician'. The 'unnamed politician' always wins the election because you don't know nothing about him. Once the polician is named, Obama or McCain, you then think they suck. It's because unnamed is the perfect polician in your mind who agrees with everything you do. Once you find out his stand on global warming doens't match yours, he's not so good.
Games are the same way, you haven't actually played them so they are doing everything right in your mind. Once you play them you find out they suck.
WAR is an okay game. Hyping up to unreal expectations will ruin the game for a lot of people.
Fingis, you haven't played WAR. I've been following your trolls on the WoW forum as well (you troll any thread which says anything remotely positive about WAR) and you know virtually nothing about even the basics of the game. For instance, you once trolled that WAR's graphics were worse than WoW's... which not only shows you haven't played WAR, but that you haven't looked into the game at all.
You aren't a new face every time you come here, you know. We know you're a troll, so do you honestly think we take anything you say seriously? You're wasting your time mate, go do something constructive.
Doesn't change the fact that RR gear makes you a powerhouse from 10-12. Twinking through gear is *very* much alive in WAR at least at the time of the preview weekend. Obviously gear matters, at least at that level.
{Mod Edit} What do you think the expansions will bring to the game? New dungeons maybe? New areas including new keeps sieges? More RR levels? What rewards will these extras bring? You're right in many ways, even if you aren't conveying your disagreement as amiably as possible.
People DO want to find that new item, and work towards that new objective. That's part of the beauty of the MMORPG world, because those items DO continue to be added.
If Mythic doesn't raise the level cap, they can spend a LOT less time trying to rebalance the game, and therefore, can offer alternatives in terms of looks/stats on their gear. The issue will be if they change the stats on the "best" gear, which will inevitably create a greater level of disparity between the top tier gear and any "baseline" gear.
That said, having spent a lot of time in the beta, the variety in items you can acquire is nice, the models thus far are coming along wonderfully, and I see a great, fun game from day one. My biggest concern in gear for WAR is that every class has an independent gear model, so every time they implement a new "set" of gear for each class, there is no carryover to how it looks on other classes (i.e., in WoW, plate on a Warrior looked the same as on a Paladin, class-exclusive gear aside). Then again, this does help each class look quite distinct, which is great.
You can't buy a game on potential, but I plan to buy this one on fun!

WoW and it's level grinding is that way ==>
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Anyone that has played DAOC realizes that for a PvP/RvR game levels aren't that important. If you are hell bent on grinding levels might I suggest Lineage 2 instead?
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

Actually, the "Get RR6 gear and ocme back to slaughter in Tier 1" was considered to be a bug and is planned to be addressed for release. That gear was never meant to be used in Tier 1, and while it was, they plan to fix that. Using that same gear in Tier 2 is much more normal, because other people are using comparable and it scales well to the PvE content in the area.
Since Mythic has admitted this to be a "bug", I don't think you can use this as validation for your point.

I guess you never played DAOC. No one who is into PvP/RvR wants a cap increase. It only appeals to people who have some bad case of OCD or no life. No one should be forced to regrind to in order to do the same things they were already doing 10 levels before. It's a stupid thing to do to a PvP/RvR based game.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
If you want to play a game that has "potential", try AoC. It has much more potential then this game, tbh.
But if you want to play a game that is fun for what it is, I'd play this game. Even with it's many downsides, I've been having a lot of fun with this game.
Using "potential" as a main selling point makes it seem worse.
1. This game has no real longevity. Why? The world resets, buildings are not crafted and therefore don't have that "its mine" feel, everyone the third time round will know exactly where to go and what to do in a siege. Its not potential its PREDICTABLE, play more than 5 mins and you will realise this. 2. The missing cities is a lot of content, it will 99% be a paid expansion, the game design suffers for its lack of appearance for launch 3. City Sieges are exactly like raids, just one massive raid. Why? City Sieges offer the best gear, gear is very important in this game. The principle is exactly the same as a raid.
Best advice anyone can give is see what its like in 3-4 months when people have gone thru the same tired crap. There is only one type of motion, its constant going forward then hits a wall (world reset) and then starts again, and you take with you what you learn't the first time. Apply this tenfold and ask yourself is this fun anymore? Sure it might be the first time but have you ever riden a rollacosta for a week straight got off and then jumped back on? Fun for the first 10 mins right.
But there's one factor that you are missing here.Even if the players will know where everything is,there's still the "human"factor. The experience won`t be the same as you have no idea how big the opposite faction/how tough they gonna be + there's not one or two quests in the city but several one and all this will depends on the level of the city.
When compared to a PvE end game formula which after 10 times became more of a grind and a static event in itself because it's scripted(always the same positioning, the same tank and spank) I see City seiging in WAR as more dynamic and competitive.
And my main and only reason to play WAR is Mythic and the Warhammer IP of course. It's not often that you see a company agree that they fucked up things at one time and also learned from that and be honest to its community and for me my friend this is Golden
In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:
GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
If you want to play a game that has "potential", try AoC. It has much more potential then this game, tbh.
But if you want to play a game that is fun for what it is, I'd play this game. Even with it's many downsides, I've been having a lot of fun with this game.
Using "potential" as a main selling point makes it seem worse.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
AoC has as much 'potential' as Darkfall..
Now that i've played WAR, I can safely say the OP is right
