So many great games that could be made into a MMO, so many novels n movies that could be adapted to MMO...n they go with Buffy. Guess they are desperate to try something cheezy.
What's with all the Buffy hate? I liked that show and I'm a guy who is thouroghly sick of all the teen-angsty, whiney, "it's cool to be all dark and brooding" vampire crap. But maybe that's why there is so much hate for Buffy. I suppose it was too quirky and lighthearted for the goth/emo crowd. I'm not so sure it would translate well into a mmorpg but I liked the series. ^--- that's exactly what's with all the buffy hate. good series, but yet again another potentially severely lame mmo.
I think it's also because a lot of us are just tired of all of the money going behind IP-based MMOs instead of behind innovative/new-IP ones. Buffy isn't a bad show, but its not needed as an MMO, especially since there are already Vampire-based MMOs out there and being developed.
its just sad how devs are basically wasting their time on virtual trash. why don't they put their degrees to good use for once?

Hey there, newbie here. I'm actually interested in the Buffy RPG (minus the Titanic angle, please), since I loved the TV show. If they're able to pull it off and make it flow like Resident Evil, then I'm all for it.
if you can't have enough imagination to make a vampire mmo at least use the lost boys, or even the vampire chronicles as a source. buffy lmao has epic fail over it

I think that all depends on when they set the game. If its after the series end, its not really a problem as there were multipul slayers and they had basically been given no limit on the amount of them there could be at one time.
This pretty much opens the gameworld to any scope the designers chose. Also there were a lot more then just Vampires in the series so you get a pretty broad spectum to challenges. With alternate realities, dimentions, underground sub cultures of creatures, magic users and demons...you "could" really go in any direction.
Again I am wondering who the target audience will be as the slayers can only be females. We "guys" may need to concede to the idea that an MMO may be in developement that isn't targeting males, stats and grinds. Just a thought. I doubt it....more then likely it will be more "kill 10 rats" crap with chick avatars and Zander sidekicks.
The question is: does the team have the talent to add a very good game to a questionable title? With 3 MMO type projects in the cooker at once, I would think that would work against them unless they either 1) make cheepo games or 2) have an ungoddly budget and a huge pool of resources.
The Core concept of Buffy isn't a bad one, people with exceptional abilities who fight a secret war against evil supernatural forces trying to do assorted bad things to the world.
