Its a mixed up world when a digital download of a game cost so much more than a nice boxed vesion with a manual and physical discs

  • HazukiStyleHazukiStyle Member UncommonPosts: 49

Yeah, I think its a bit too early to start jumping to conclusions on whether you'll recieve the codes in time... we've still got to wait another couple of weeks (or week if you're looking to get into the OB) before launch.

Updated to show play.com will be releasing their codes on the 16th. Very nice of them to be upfront about it but I will probably have to make a trip to a game store if I can and see if theres any left. Remember you can always cancel up to the date you receive anything.

Ordered from EA store UK 30.8 and so far  the only confirmation I got is just the paypal payment confirmation, no word from the EA store at all, I hope I'll get the codes.

Have a couple of copies ordered from a local shop too, but that's no OB access.

Subscribtions: EVE, SWTOR WOW, WAR, DDO, VG, AOC, COV, FFXI, GW, RFO, Aion
    +plenty of F2P, betas, trials

Female Dwarf player: WOW, VG, WAR, DDO
    .
Due to the recent economic crisis and spending cuts the light at the end of the tunnel was turned off. Sincerely, God.

The eastore.ea.com  just kept coming back with a no-chance matey reply.
The D2D.co.uk just kept coming back with 'Country restricted' - rubbish. Waiting on support ticket reply, hopefully tomorrow they will be back and reply.

Anyone from the UK ordered from eastore.ea.com and have the unlock code or have downloaded from ea download manager?

Sounds like your ISP's IP address range isn't on the latest GEOIP file list yet.
When somebody is trying to determine what country your in they check your IP address against the GEOIP file and look up what country and ISP that is registered with.
Fast growing ISP's keep on buying blocks of IP addresses and it takes times for the GEOIP file to be updated and distributed, Microsoft is terrible at updating theirs and months go by before they even consider getting the most up to date one.
It sounds like this may be what is happening with you.

Yes, This looks to be the case I just a reply from D2D.co.uk.

I'm sorry that you have been inconvenienced and that you are

experiencing some issues completing your game purchase.

We've been working with the engineers on this and have been informed

that the ISP that you are on (*****) is being trace-routed to Amsterdam,

which is why the purchase is failing. Unfortunately since the ISP being

used is a European ISP service we can't make any changes to your service

or to the game restrictions. The only other options you have are to try

a different connection or ISP service.

Feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.

This to me doesn't make a lot od sense as I want the European copy and Amsterdam is in europe the last time I looked but if it is labeled incorrectly with this GEOIP thingy I can see it might cuase this problem.

So I need to find another connection to make the purchase, let hope I don't have the same problem with the download.

    LOL 8)

I just had problems ordering again from D2D.co.uk.  I am based in the UK,  I tried several methods using different freshly created accounts and intenet/prepay visa cards - none of them worked.

The last 2 orders I made at D2D.co.uk  were last week and they went ahead fine and I have the open keys (but not yet the pre-order item keys and the headstart/normal game key - which I am not expecting til llater i nthe week)

I dont know what the problem is - it could be the CC but since the torder process stalled before i put in all the CC details (CVV2 code) I doubnt it is the CC (i have since used it on EA site and that order went through fine)

What would help is - Has anyone successfully ordered from direct2drive.co.uk today ?   If so what country did you make your order from ?

I didnt bother making a ticket on their site but as you say lol - amersterdam is wel land truly in Europe (although I notivce on the EA site they dont incluyde Holland on their list of what EU covers  (i think they said French, German English Spanish from memory) , your difficulties could be related to mine or seperate.   I was trying to buy for a m8 in Belgium who was having problems but his were related to CC.

no news from EA store yet, i sent an email to support and they replied asking me for my order details name address etc..so waiting on the reply..i bet they have no record of my order.

does anyone know for definite that game does not do the preorder stuff.  When i preordered AoC and Soul Calibur both had preorder extras that were not mentioned.  I have tried emailing with 2 different email addresses and have still had no reply as to what you get with the preorder.

no GAME and EA have had a very long running battle over prices, EA wants all the retailers to sell the game at EA's RRP (which is illegal in the UK anyways) and GAME has been standing up to EA for a very long time now.

It has got so bad that GAME stores will only have 1 copy of an EA game in store and will only order 1 when that gets sold.

Of course when GAME were selling CE's for £40 EA had them removed from the CE program and I wasn't particulary surprised when they weren't mentioned as a preferred retailer.

Tio my mind EA is being quite stupid over this as GAME is europe's largest games retailer before they bought gamestation, that's a lot of box sales that EA is missing out on by playing silly buggers with them.

No one that has ordered from EA have received their codes yet, there has been mixed reports that EA will either send out the code withing 3-10 working days from your order date or that they will send you the code on the 6th/7th this month.

    Quote from Only-War.com forum:

    tufty:

"Update on EA, Ea have replied 2 my question bout beta-codes, EA have said that from the date that you pre-order the codes will be sent to you via e-mail, within 3-10 days.

hope this helps people ino it has helped me"

Sending the last four digits of the credit card.

Hope they won't ask for my pet's blood test now.

GME.co.uk have now put up on their site that they now have limited amount of headstart codes and ingame items.

No idea how many they have and also they have been taking pre-orders since march so it may not even be possible to get this if you pre-order now but looks like EA couldn't really ignore the big retailer in the end.

  • kaidiezkaidiez Member Posts: 8

heh and i cancelled my preorder today to get from play.  Got a reply from a woman there that they dont know if they will get any or not.

I want to order thru D2Duk now, but cant get past the authorisation stage, will try at work 2moro and see if  a change of ISP works.

For interest my isp is SKY and im in UK sent a ticket but no response yet.

  • altairzqaltairzq Member Posts: 3,811

Finally I could cancel from EA. Funny, at the same time I recieved the cancellation email, they sent also this:

    Good News!

As you may have noticed, EA Store UK are now offering Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning at £34.99 instead of £39.99. We are aware that you have currently pre-ordered at a higher price – but don’t worry you will be charged at £34.99.

For more information on Warhammer Online please visit the website: www.war-europe.com

If you have any questions, please contact customer services

I didn't cancel for the price, but for the absolute silence about the beta codes. Anyway it's good they lowered the price.

  • kaidiezkaidiez Member Posts: 8

direct2drive has now reduced in price to 29.95.  Still cant order though, have tried with a 3g card, work internet (country error) and at home and no luck.  Whats the point of the service if you cant use it....

  • ronan32ronan32 Member Posts: 1,418

still waiting for my key, maybe they will release the keys when  key validation is enabled on the war europe website *fingers crossed*
