I agree 100% with Moroth, I was shocked at how old this game looked. I do not play warcraft but did try it out. (so no need to make comments, I broke my leg and my man told me to find something to play so I've been looking) Females are not going to play this game, We need more then you men do. The toons are horrible, making them is horrible, the game looks like I am trying out one that is already 10 years old. Reminds me of when I tried out the Everquest demo 2 years ago. If AOC gets fixed then that would be my pick and I lost interest in that because of the PVP. Warhammer should have been so much better, obv it can be done so why does it look like that?!
You can throw around the insults all you want but all it does is make the fanboi community look just as bad an they do anywhere else. Games are like chicks.... She may be great in bed but if she looks like shit you'll never find out. Or in some of your cases you will. I personally gotta have some visual attraction first, good for you if you don't.

I spent an hour in game...
After standing in the same place killing stuff over and over, with stiff animations, and latency issues, along with ugly graphics (some of the faces look like they were done with charcoal or pencils)..
Boredom kicked in, and I logged out...deleted the files (after taking 6 hours to patch) and then canceled my pre-order.

Why is the concept of this MMOs graphics style eluding some people? This is not a situation where you can have your cake and eat it to. You are not going to get AoC graphics in a massive PvP game of this type. It just can't work! And never mind the game play because we all know graphics>game play, right?
Looking at this pic, are you really suggesting this looks like a game of 10-years ago? High res textures aren't even in yet. Lighting and shadows are going to be tweaked. The texture blurring is still an issue but it's something Mythic openly recognizes as a problem and commented on getting it fixed. It's a beta!

They are pretty much a more gritty Lotro, or what GW2 would look like. That seems pretty damn up to date graphics wise to me. And it for sure looks a hell of alot better than WoW.

I hate that some people will listen to 1 hour reviews like this that don't do the game justice and possibly not try it.

I'm one of many waiting for the EU open beta, i've put up with wow graphics so im sure i'll be able to handle this too.... how are the graphics compared to wow? worse or better?

It's obvious people are ignoring what they see and just want to whine or they have mediocre pc's that can't give them the experience they desire. Either way, the game is right where it should be in order to make the RvR experience a rewarding one. Could the graphics be better? Sure they can but this isn't a single player game either. If you go to the warhammer alliance forums, you'll see lots and lots of people trying to run this game on pc's that don't meet the minimum requirements. They then go on to complain that the game looks like ass. Even at minimum, the game is going to look dated. The problem is the continual comparison with WoW. With that in mind, people think that WAR is going to scale like WOW. When they don't see the similar scaling, they go on a rampage. The graphics style is much different and when sliding down the scale, the dated look is much more evident.

Im going to be honest,when i first logged in awhile back i started a greenskin and thought the graphics were average.Although i loved the game and graphics arent that big a deal i felt they were lacking a bit.Then i started playing an empire toon and my opinion totally turned around 180.The graphics really in my opinion remind me of lord of the rings on line for some reason wich is not a bad thing.They are definately better then WoW graphics.My best advise would be to give the game some time and check out different zones becasue ive been surprised by some of the zones when other were lacking a little.

I'm more than willing to try it. I've read the above posts and perhaps some graphical improvements are on the way. We'll see.... I wouldn't consider myself a graphics whore but they are pretty important in a game along with other things. I'm sure many people here have at least an 8800GT which means they also find graphics pretty important. While I don't personally play WoW I'd say they compensated for low polygon graphics with their art style. At this time I can't say WAR has done that.
To the person with the screen shots above..... They look pretty darn good. I can say my gameplay graphics look nothing like that and I can't find any other graphical settings to max. So, either I'm missing something or those screenies are misleading.
To all the imature comments about my mom doing my laundry all I can do is laugh and your fanboi comments are to be expected.
As far as all the excuses that graphics are dumbed down for RVR gameplay that's BS. You should give people the options to set the graphics as they deem. If your system can handle good looking graphics then give it to them, if it can't give them the option to turn them down.

Id say about 1or 2 more steps towards being realistic, but not quite there. I think the environment looks absolutely amazing though.
Any do you know how many people will insist on cranking it up while complaining they are lagging, glitching, hitching and popping? A tech support nightmare to say the least. I believe Mythic had to draw the line somewhere and not allow what you're suggesting in order to maintain good client/server optimization. It's just how I look at things.
Its funny becasue those screenies a couple posts up that you said look pretty good are in norsca or whatever where the empire starts and thats the exact place that turned my opinion around.Just thought it was funny.But i will admit theres some places that ive been and for some reason its the destro side that wasnt appealing to me.So much so i started playing order and am having a blast with the classes and zones on order side and my guild with my RL friends are playing destro....now im torn.But for some reason i wasnt getting that exciting feeling with the destro classes.Guess i have to go where iam having fun.
I suppose im looking for a home now since ill be playing order side and leaving my guild behind,wich saddens me but i cant get into the destro side.So anyone not feling the game i would suggest trying ALL the classes.For some reason the bright wizard really grabbed me.BTW any good order guilds looking for a mature casual gamer =P

First of all, sebwhite, you are trying way to hard to convince me and others that you are a woman. That is to say, I don't believe you at all and furthermore your gender is irrelevant as to whether or not you prefer the art style found in WAR.
I happen to think that the graphics and art in WAR are stunningly beautiful with painstaking attention to detail. I like how they have it set up to where upon going up a hill, you see something huge on the horizon. It is all a wonderful presentation, and it is something that Blizzard practices with WoW.
However WAR simply has far more detailed environments, higher polygon counts, etc than WoW and by a large margin. So, i'd have to say that WAR, on this particular subject, can definitely compete and beat WoW.
By the way, did I mention that I was a female player?

Interesting screenshots there. I also liked the screen capture from download.com in your album. What's with all the arrows pointing screenshots you have though?
Anyhow, to the point. I'm not sure where you found those screenshots, but I can only assume that they're with the graphics settings turned way down and designed to look bad via adjusting the settings. Let's try a couple from their website.

Anyway, since the game isn't live yet, these screenshots are just a guideline. Were 100% of the look-pretty graphics installed in the game at that time? I don't know, and frankly I don't care. There is so much more to the game than looks...it looks good enough for me, and from what I've seen of the gameplay and developer comments, I'm already sold.

Problem is I planned on playing a goblin... I will admit that forcing 8X AA through my video settings has helped. I initially wanted to play a Shaman but the spell animations were turning me off. It's to the point I can't ignore them so I'm going to try a different class and see how that goes. If anyone has any shammy spell animations at later levels that look cool please post a link as that would have been my preferred class.

Go play AOC for the graphics. Go play Myst.. or some game with AWESOME graphics.. Gameplay is why people play.. well.. most people. Have fun.. Umm.. looking at the pretty polygons..
