Well first off by looking at screenshots I was very skeptical but after downloading it last night I literally have not been able to stop playing. I love the look/style of the game, it really fits perfect. I've beta tested what seems to be a million games and I'm putting this one in the top 3 at least, it's just plain fun and addictive. If you like RPG's do yourself a favor and download it, it's not a very big download.

There should be a monthly charge or a one-time fee for games that feel they need to charge at all.  Having to "purchase" additional items during game play, to be able to enjoy enhancements of the game (even cosmetic), seems counterproductive.  Why spend more money if there are no added bonuses to benefit the char you play?

Oh and I played Lineage for several years, while Maple is a totally different style I think it kicks Lineage's arse, and it's just started beta, I think Maple has a TON of potential. Ok back to playing Maple, my archer is waiting for me  image

To be honest, item buying is not something one can easiliy understand without having done it or seeing someone do it.  It really adds a lot of freshness to the game.  One way to put it is... why do people buy ring tones?  The phone works without it but people still buy them.  It's a really similar concept.  There are many people with questions about when the cash shop will open.  Some like the concept but many have already experienced it on the Korean or Japanese servers.

For example, we have a salon in the game where you can change your hairstyle.  Some people are happy with the default styles we provide.  Others want to pay for customization.  It's a personal call but we leave that decision up to the users.  The cool thing is the game is free otherwise.  From a business aspect, it is a scalable model.  People that like to buy have no problems with getting many upgrades.  Another example is during Christmas we might sell a Santa suit.  I dont think we can fault anyone for deciding to buy that suit... it's just a new business model =)  I know this sounds very foreign but people in the current commercial markets like it because maple allows them to play two MMOs.  Not many people have the money to pay for two subscriptions^^  However, you are entitled to your opinion=)

I like Maples's item buying system, it doesn't give you any stat advantage but it can give your character a unique look, I don't see anything wrong with that at all, in fact I might buy some of those items someday, not really because I have to have them but just to support a game I like.

EQ so lowered the bar for MMORPGs. Here we have people who now think it's fun to get some uber item that no one else has, and you can't convince these people that There Is Another Way.

    Sigh.

Hi. I am the international business dev. guy at Wizet. We are really happy with the beta turnout and have you the players to thank for it. Let me apologize in advance if there are bugs and lag in CS. We are undermanned and working very hard to bring you a good product.

I'm writing this post to ask you, the gamers, to help Maple Story grow. I have a limited marketing budget so I need your help to spread the word on Maple. If you like the game, tell all your gamer friends, family, and post on forums, send email forwards, defend the game from those that havent played but hate on 2D =) etc. etc. Maple's definitely not for everyone but I would like to reach everyone who may like the title.

I'm doing everything myself now and there is a ceiling to what I can do... it's 6am now and I find myslef crawling on forums and talking to users.  I love my job but I do get tired =( Especially, if you live or know anyone in non-US territories like South East Asia, Australia, the UK, the rest of Europe LOL we need your help too! Sorry to sound so desperate but well... I am =) I think we have a great product for you but we do need to hit our user numbers to shift resources and bring you a better product. Hopefully, with your help, we can make Maple a truly global game!!! Thanks in advance for your help.

If any of you have any advice on how I should go about in spreading the word, please let me know^^  I'm going pretty grassroots right now.

    Cheers,
    Stovy.

well ill be the first to say that the 2d system is maple story is very refreshing and im enjoying the game so far though im only at lvl 8 its got a very mario feel to it besides just the 2d aspect as there are mushrooms running around mushroom houses and the platforms etc are very marioesque. I suggest everyone at least check this out.... Hopefully i wont be dissapointed when i get to lvl 10 and choose my profession and i dont expect to be. Id like to see more quests and more variety in monsters but its definitly pretty solid so far and i havent encountered any bugs yet. Heck its not even that laggy and theres quite a few people in each zone especially the beginning ones. So yes this gets the ackbar endorsement and its definitly better than risk your life for whoever made that post.
