When will open beta start?

Ok well i just read a thread on open beta. Im assuming this means it would be open to download to the public? If so when would it start?

    According to this thread it's looking like open beta will be around the end of this month with the game retailing on 15th November.

    Please let it be so!!!!!!! ::::06::::::07::::::08::::::32::

    Let me just add that there has been no publicly released official date for the open beta or the release.  So a lot of the estimates out there are based on rumor and/or what preorder sites are saying.

    After the Stress Test I was hooked on WoW.  Now I cannot wait for WoW to be released.  Hurry up Blizz!! image

    Right now open beta will be going on sometime in November, other than that, we really dont know. It could be ending in early nov, or starting late nov. That's the uncertainty at this moment in time.

    It'll really depend on what blizz does with the next patch, and how far they'll gotten with class talents, etc. The game will not  go into open beta until all the classes have their talents, so hopefully the next patch will shed some light onto how they are doing.

    Ok well on the open beta, will they let everyone play for free and they just download it off the website and get to play automatically or what?

    Yup. You'll register for a key so you can access the game, and download the client... Then you can play for free for the duration of the test ::::28::

    And how long would it last? And the game comes out On November 15th if im correct so i dont think it would come out in the middle of november?

    Going on what I've read recently, it looks like the open beta will start around the end of this month with it retailing on the 15th of Nov, but don't take that as gospel.

    If you really want a clue on this, be looking for the patch that adds paladin and hunter talents, and finishes the warlock talents.  It's virtually guaranteed they won't do open beta until those items are complete.

    Nimrod- the stress test was a 10 day trail period of WoW where 100k people got to play in order to stress the servers.

    It would seem kinda weird to download 2+ gigs and play for 15 days then have everything wiped when retail hits. Thats why i kept the stress test client and will just patch up when open starts!!::::28:: I just hope open starts after all my midterm exams finsih so I won't fail::::40::

    Ya i agree with everyone i think it will be released later october/early november. From what ive heard a big patch is being released which is supposed to be in conjunction with open beta

    To be honest with all of you, I am considering -not- participating in the open beta.  The reason? The characters don't overlap onto retail servers. 

    'SO WHAT??!!!!11.  YOU CAN PALY TEH GMAE FOR FREE!!11' 

    I have been waiting for this game since March of this year.  Sure, not as long as some, but checking the website everyday for 8 months is intense for me.  I got a sneak peak of the game in the stress test, which I now regret because I know for sure I'm playing WoW anyway.  Why the regrets?  Because I want to enjoy the experience of -findly- owning this masterpeice of a game, and playing it for the FIRST time.  That IMO is the climax to a game. 

    Playing the open beta for two weeks, then findly getting my hands on the game and having to start over? Kind of annoying.  Even worse... it won't feel as fun if I have been playing it already. 

    Just a thought~

    You shouldn't get to keep your characters because you'd have an advantage over anyone else who did not participate in the beta.  However, you would have the advantage of being able to try out a few different classes, find out what you like and gain the KNOWLEDGE that will help you do better when the game retails.  The fun of a game is playing it, not owning it.

    Ya, thats why I'm excited about Open Beta.  I wanna try some new characters that I didnt in the Stress test, and characters I might not play in retail.  image

    I'm gonna use the open beta to do some research. I'll try out every class this time so that when the game goes retail I can start the game 100% confident I made the right decision for me.

    I had similar plans for the stress test but I had so much fun with my warrior I played it all the way through. ::::31::

    I went to Gamestop last night and the guy there said it was almost a definate that WoW will be out on November 16th. It would have to be soon if the release date is correct. Who knows? I hope the guy was right ! ::::02::

    yeah, OB is good to try out differnt characters and what not... the warlock sucked during ST; but it got some loving... so i'd wanna try that out and many of the other classes :)
