I would put AoC around a 9 for graphics. I would give WAR maybe a 7 for graphics. You don't grade games based on each other, since crysis came out, does that mean every pc game needs to be as good as that, or they should get like 5-7s? Why gears of war came out, and every 360 game has to be as good as it or better or they lose points? The graphics are on par with WoW(possibly even worse) This is obviously a troll statement. this is just the problem, I played WAR for a long time now and I would only rate it as a 6 tops atm. And that is based on game functionality, customer support and overall enjoyment of the game. But as soon as someone posts anything negative you get answers like you post here, you seem to think your "facts" overrides everyone elses facts. And what are these facts you talk about? its just a word until you put meaning to it. Is the fact that one of the Mythic guys drive a black care? sure, that is prolly true. But you need to open your eyes and understand your facts are not the same facts others have. This is the main issue with the fanboi community that builds up usually, they only see everything from their own narrow views.
WAR will be great, still far from it atm due to issues and so on, but i am sure it will be good.
I am the same mind as you when it concerns WAR. It`s an okay game made for kiddies who like to be lead to the end game with shiny prizes at the end. The game play is predictable at best and the overall feel give you that counter strike type pvp with a WOW mentality.
Let`s face it Mythic have done a good job in stealing a lot of WOW subs but this game is far from what DAOC was in any way shape or form. I am glad that the people whom are fed up with WOW can find another home in WAR but for me it`s DF that really gives us older PVP addicts hope.
Sandbox PVP has more going for it than the WAR/WOW type PVP . Anyone who says that this game is as good as DAOC is talking rubbish or has never played DAOC.
I think Mythic have made a good game if that`s what you are looking for but it will get boring real fast. WOTLK will take back a lot of the subs Mythic have taken off them but war will still have a good player base but for me it`s DarkfFall all the way.

The problem is that some people do nothing else on this site but flame WAR. There are plenty of games I dislike, but I don't go to a single one's forum and say crap about them. WAR has just been released and is definitely a playable and enjoyable (for some) game with minimal issues. Let people make up their own minds. I dont really get into this kind of post for a reason, but today I am in a good mood and cant resist it. IMHO That no MMO is SPECIAL, NOT SPECIAL at ALL. What make the MMo truely special is how it tickles the cockles of your heart when you play it. So if it tickles you then its Special and its for you, if it doesnt then you dont like it (or hate it). And to the Lovers your a TROLL. If you hate it then the ones it tickles become a FANBOY. So, in closing jusr remember that its all opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.
WAR is a little better than WoW because it places more emphasis on PvP. It's still very linear, and the 2 factions thing, hence it gets labeled a WoW clone. It looks like 2-3 months of fun but i really can't see it becoming a long term success because it's just going to get old fighting the same races and territories over and over. Planetside comes to mind.

I'd say the answer is the same in both situations. Some people are either too insecure and their opinions too fragile to accept any differing point-of-view. Or they're too full of themselves and self-important to acknowledge that an opinion different from theirs could ever be just as valid.
Of course, there's another category: Those who couldn't care less either way, but just enjoy saying/doing things to get a rise out of people.

The facts other people have are flat out wrong. I'm sorry, but people who say the graphics are = and or worse then wow, are flat out wrong, it's not just a oh it's just his opinion thing.

People are allowed their opinions, problem is alot of the comments posted on this forum are not honest opinions from people who have tried it and simply disliked it, but people who just WANT it to fail so that it doesnt compete with thier game. They hope the bad press helps that happen.
The funny thing is, having an opinion is a right for most of the free world. Thank goodness for that.
However, there many kinds of opinions out there, based on fact (and that is totally subjective as it is), feeling (personal and can not be argued since they are rooted in our psyche), objectively constructive, unfairly biased, etc. etc. etc.

I think most war fans would agree that this game isnt for everyone. If you dont like pvp or RvR your not going to like this game.
The problem is that a lot of other game fanboi's constatly harp on insignificant aspects of the game, spread misinformation, or just come to quick conclusion that its a wow clone after a day or two of play.
Its been hard pressed to find a critical review that goes along the lines of "its sound wasnt too good, its graphics where decent but not ground breaking, and overall the RvR just wasnt for me"
Instead you get reviews that go along the lines of " i played for 3hours and it sucfked, horrible graphics, a dead community, terrible and slow gameplay, its just like wow only worse"
Now the flame bait reviews are always going to get responses.
No one is saying you cant dislike warhammer, i think the flames start when you give a review that is...well inaccurate, or state that since you didnt like it that everyone else should avoid the game like the plague.
I think once we start getting casual players hitting endgame your going to start seeing some real reviews. Most of the reviews you see are for players who got to 20 and under on one character, and most often by someone who is under level 5.

TCoS, looks good, but the combat is very reminscent of DDO and AoC.

this is just the problem, I played WAR for a long time now and I would only rate it as a 6 tops atm. And that is based on game functionality, customer support and overall enjoyment of the game. But as soon as someone posts anything negative you get answers like you post here, you seem to think your "facts" overrides everyone elses facts. And what are these facts you talk about? its just a word until you put meaning to it. Is the fact that one of the Mythic guys drive a black care? sure, that is prolly true. But you need to open your eyes and understand your facts are not the same facts others have. This is the main issue with the fanboi community that builds up usually, they only see everything from their own narrow views.
WAR will be great, still far from it atm due to issues and so on, but i am sure it will be good.
I am the same mind as you when it concerns WAR. It`s an okay game made for kiddies who like to be lead to the end game with shiny prizes at the end. The game play is predictable at best and the overall feel give you that counter strike type pvp with a WOW mentality.
Let`s face it Mythic have done a good job in stealing a lot of WOW subs but this game is far from what DAOC was in any way shape or form. I am glad that the people whom are fed up with WOW can find another home in WAR but for me it`s DF that really gives us older PVP addicts hope.
Sandbox PVP has more going for it than the WAR/WOW type PVP . Anyone who says that this game is as good as DAOC is talking rubbish or has never played DAOC.
I think Mythic have made a good game if that`s what you are looking for but it will get boring real fast. WOTLK will take back a lot of the subs Mythic have taken off them but war will still have a good player base but for me it`s DarkfFall all the way.

do NOT go to the swg section. some people aren't on a "crusade" to kill the game (never heard of bad opinions killing anything tbh) but lots of people were fans of the WAR universe and were hoping that this would be something special. not wow 2.0

Frankly i have respect for thoes that dont like the game but most people that dont like the game bash it rather than stating what it is THEY dont like. I dont really get into this kind of post for a reason, but today I am in a good mood and cant resist it. IMHO That no MMO is SPECIAL, NOT SPECIAL at ALL. What make the MMo truely special is how it tickles the cockles of your heart when you play it. So if it tickles you then its Special and its for you, if it doesnt then you dont like it (or hate it). And to the Lovers your a TROLL. If you hate it then the ones it tickles become a FANBOY. So, in closing jusr remember that its all opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.
WAR is a little better than WoW because it places more emphasis on PvP. It's still very linear, and the 2 factions thing, hence it gets labeled a WoW clone. It looks like 2-3 months of fun but i really can't see it becoming a long term success because it's just going to get old fighting the same races and territories over and over. Planetside comes to mind.

I'd say the answer is the same in both situations. Some people are either too insecure and their opinions too fragile to accept any differing point-of-view. Or they're too full of themselves and self-important to acknowledge that an opinion different from theirs could ever be just as valid.
Of course, there's another category: Those who couldn't care less either way, but just enjoy saying/doing things to get a rise out of people.

The facts other people have are flat out wrong. I'm sorry, but people who say the graphics are = and or worse then wow, are flat out wrong, it's not just a oh it's just his opinion thing.
Then theres people who complain about the class names being "renamed to be cool" compared to wow classes.

People are allowed their opinions, problem is alot of the comments posted on this forum are not honest opinions from people who have tried it and simply disliked it, but people who just WANT it to fail so that it doesnt compete with thier game. They hope the bad press helps that happen.
The funny thing is, having an opinion is a right for most of the free world. Thank goodness for that.
However, there many kinds of opinions out there, based on fact (and that is totally subjective as it is), feeling (personal and can not be argued since they are rooted in our psyche), objectively constructive, unfairly biased, etc. etc. etc.
Point being, unless the people in the debate are there for a reasonable discussion...there's no winning ground, as it will invariably (like most threads here) degenerate into name calling and assinine behavior.

I think most war fans would agree that this game isnt for everyone. If you dont like pvp or RvR your not going to like this game.
The problem is that a lot of other game fanboi's constatly harp on insignificant aspects of the game, spread misinformation, or just come to quick conclusion that its a wow clone after a day or two of play.
Its been hard pressed to find a critical review that goes along the lines of "its sound wasnt too good, its graphics where decent but not ground breaking, and overall the RvR just wasnt for me"
Instead you get reviews that go along the lines of " i played for 3hours and it sucfked, horrible graphics, a dead community, terrible and slow gameplay, its just like wow only worse"
Now the flame bait reviews are always going to get responses.
No one is saying you cant dislike warhammer, i think the flames start when you give a review that is...well inaccurate, or state that since you didnt like it that everyone else should avoid the game like the plague.
I think once we start getting casual players hitting endgame your going to start seeing some real reviews. Most of the reviews you see are for players who got to 20 and under on one character, and most often by someone who is under level 5.
