WAR released today and BANG, we loose 12 players from guild. Emails and personal messages of goodbye and goodluck. Usually at 2 pm afternoon things begin to get going. But for last couple of days it seems population took a good hit. Even in evening during the peak times its hard to get a group. OOC, TRADE channels which are usually busy are very quite.
Is it just me or anyone else noticed it? population was never really great to begin with but now its even harder to get fellowship. Not to even mention HELEGROD 24 man group.
I play on Snowbourn EU one of the two most populated servers.

Even though i don't have mich playtime

I just bought this game and am looking forward to playing it. I also want to try WAR as well. I think people will be back when the new Expansion comes out here soon. Untill then I hope to get into this game have some fun.
The population drop is not surprising at all, especially with a game as big as Warhammer coming; everyone and their mothers is going to be trying it out. But do not worry, once the Mines of Moria expansion comes out for LOTRO, you will be waiting in lines to get into the server
i hope so, althow the new runekeeper or what ever they called it class kinda....i donno :S they shud have just called him wizard =[

When the MoM expansion launches. I predict that the newbie areas are gonna be filled with wardens and runekeepers. And finding mobs you need to kill for a quest is gonna be a bitch.
Anyways my quest log is FULL with fellowship quest that i cant find people to do with. I spent 4-5 days to get a fellowship for Tomb of Elendil. Solotion: Drop most fellowship quests, go for epics, books and solo quests. Its a shame tho, some of the fellowship quests are really fun and gives some good rewards.
But getting a fellowship in MoM should not be a problem....

Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!
Waiting in lines? sorry a lot of new people may come but if you are thinking there are going to be waiting lines then you are way too optimistic.
I can understand OP's concern. I am on same server and its damn hard to geta group even during peak hours. I am stuck in Misty Mountain for last 4 days. Looks like time to move ahead with solo quests. If this continues i will have no option but to discontinue my subscription for now and wait till MOM launches.
But honestly, WAR is too big a competition for LOTR and it already showing its effects My kin which had only 25 members to begin with. Is left with only 7 active members.
Not in my case. I played LoTRO since release. I enjoyed it a lot. However in my few days in WAR I am having more fun then in any other mmo I have played. This new game excitment may pale a bit in the future but WAR is so well made that Mines of Moria and WotLK will bring me back to LOTRO or WoW. I will keep playing EQ2 since it offers something for me that WaR does not and that is a feeling my characters are living in this huge persistent world. I limit myself to only two games at a time and both LoTRO and WoW have been removed from my computer. For the next few months it will be WAR and EQ2. I am waiting to see how Chronicles of Spellbourne plays out. LoTRO had its chance Turbine made a really nice game but something is missing for me to keep me in it in the face of some a very good game like WAR. I do not see myself ever playing it again.
You think you have problems? What about us peeps on servers that weren't that heavil populated in the first place. Its nearly impossible to get a group even at peak times, and I'm trying to do the book quests. I know why it is but it doesn't mean i have to like it.
Certainly no population problems on Silverlode. leveling a alts who is in low 40's right now and ended up in not 1 but 4 different small 3 - 4 person pickup grous last nights in Angmar and Foroschel areas. Bree which is always a good indicatror had about 60 players of all levels at 8 pm EST on a Friday night.
I tried WAR, on a 10 buck pre order trial. Looks too much like WoW for me, and the PvE sucked compared to LoTRO or ecven WoW. I did not bother to get the retail box, used it as a 10 dollar education.
I miss DAoC
yeah but you can't say thats good enough. Only because you got picked up in groups doesn't mean all is fine. Some of us over here are really struggling and even stuck at some points. i will wait for another couple of days and see how things work. If not i will wait till MOM release.
Even if 9/10 posters say they're experiencing problems in LotRO, Jack will always be there to say its just not so in his experience. I think he plays a different game.

I enjoyed AoC for the first week or two when it came out. Then I got out into the larger world, the nerfs started, the crashes started, the lack of content started and in a month it was boring as hell. I came back to lotro and here I well stay.
The thing I have noticed about PvP of any type is how it can make an adult into a child in nothing flat. Another aspect of the game which never interested me after playing AoC.
MoM will bring a lot of people back and if it is half the game being hinted at it should pretty much keep people from here out. I would say one thing, Turbine needs to get the word out, they have failed on one front, that is in advertising.
And I hit 50,000 on the post, do I get a booby prise?
At first glance I sort of felt the same way about WAR. After playing my first 2 hours I logged out and did not even play for a couple days. This was in beta. Then just before the end of beta I decided to give it another go. I rolled and Empire instead of an High Elf. I am glad I did. I decided to just play the game as is and I really started to love it. I got my pre-order then started in the head start deal and have not stopped playing since.
I found the pve even more fun and interesting then LoTRO. I am a fan of that game check my avitar for proof. The pve is way better then WoW. As a solo'r and pve'r I loved those games. The more I pve the more I love the quests. They never feel like a grind in anyway. What I was suprised to find was that although I loving WAR's pve I started playing RvR and absolutly love it. Most of my game time is RvR play. However when i need a break I go pve and public quests and they are some of the most engaging in any mmo I have ever played. Jachdog I have read a lot of your posts somehow you of all people might consider giving WAR another look. It really is fantastic. Maybe, trying it fresh, you might find you actually like it, like I did.

Don't make the mistake of comapring your experience in AoC (which I played) and the experience I am having in WAR. If you try to compare the two, then decide to stay in LoTRO and not try WAR because of the bad taste AoC gave you. You will miss out on a really fantastic game. WAR will not be a two week game like AoC turned out to be. I still think that game has possibilities but WAR is a totally different deal. LoTRO is a great game but Mythic won and sold me on WAR. So much so I will not be going back to LoTRO MoM does not even interest me anymore. With sadness and respect I made my last ride accross Middle Earth. Much of my time there was fun but the fun I am having in WAR is epic in comparision.
I was on last night during prime time and man, it did feel empty. I didn't attribute it to WAR when I noticed, but that might be the reason. WAR has some very nice and innovative features - namely the public quest system, that have the potential for making the gameplay very fun. I've just been following the game anecdotally and I'm impressed with it.
That said, I've already invested myself in LOTRO, and I'm having fun here, so here is where I stay. Luckily for me, that's the same attitude with most of my kinmates, so I at least have a solid group always around. Yesterday was an exception, but a few of our members had to evacuate from Ike, a couple more are back in school, and a couple more are on vacation, so...
Yeah, I can believe WAR causing a population hit. That game has a lot going for it.
Check out my LOTRO Blog: www.middleearthadventurer.blogspot.com
Yeah, I've got the same problem, my quest log has fellowship quests from when I was 20th level or so (I'm now 30) and I'm having to clear them out to make room for new quests (40 quests in the tracker isn't enough anyway).
And it's frustrating too because there are so many group quests in the game. But absolutely no one to do them with.
R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there
I haven't really seen any major drops on my server. All the folks I usually play with are still on, in any case. Didn't lose anyone in my KS. However, the Warhammer IP is much more popular in Europe than it is here in the states. I wouldn't be too surprised in WAR is hitting the European servers harder than ours.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but remember that MoM beta is also going on right now so I am sure there are a good amount of people playing that.... so not everyone has left to try WAR :P
I play on one of the least poulated EU servers and its still pretty active... Im trying out WAR now aswell and its a good game... but the PvE in WAR is really lacking so I need to play them both But I doubt I will keep playing WAR after Mines of Moria releases thou!
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

What I really hate about War and why it couldn't get me with wild wargs dragging me to it kicking and screaming is the overall look of the game. I have no desired to play an updated WoW.

People who compare it to WOW really don't deserve to play WAR. So i would say good you left. Anyone with sense enough to distingush knows that its nothing like WOW. Unless green orcs in every MMORPG makes it a copy of WOW. Try to get informed first before you make such idotic comments. It makes you look silly.
Agreed. seeming that Warhammer itself was out before Warcraft or even blizzard for that matter lol. but i guess blizzard's geek fanbase just have to come to this website and talk crap/rant about every other game that isn't wow.

I am a lifetime member of LOTRO and I was one of those who jumped ship for WAR. Frankly I was just plain bored with LOTRO in its present state. I will buy the expansion and give it a try plainly because The Lord of the Rings lore is the best in the world.
The situation on Laurelin (european serve) is not bad at all. Sure, on WAR launch weekend there was not much action on PvP side, but they'll come back
