Heh, I love you people... opinions are never wrong. Opinions are based on personal feelings about something, not necessarily facts. So in essence, everyones opinion is correct, for themselves, and really that is all that matters...
so if i thought the holocaust was a good idea ... then my opinion would be right?
not that I do but you know there are some extremists out there that think that.

Funny thign is, yes you are right.
It might sound sick and twisted but that is your opinion.
Take a sociology class. All facts = Artifacts of a Cultur.
To Hitler, that was the right thing to do.
It's only wrong if when you are doing it you feel wrong.
Nothing in life is as it seems. For example forget were it is. I think in Egypt.(correct me if im wrong) People push and shove to the front of the lines. The bigger the person is the easier it is to get to the front. There is nothing wrong with it in their cultur.
You come here to the US. It is wrong. You wait your turn.
Is eaither correct or incorret? No. Its a fact of their cultur.
This thread is way off topic, but I am rather impressed at the level of discourse in here. The tactical face palm picture was a nice touch even. Everything is opinion on the internet. Absolutes are always wrong. The sky is not necessarily blue...if it's nighttime...or you have sunglasses on.
My issue is that people are arguing semantics to try and fashion things to make their point. It is very simple, the OP is incorrect because the basic definition of the word "opinion" completely contradicts any argument that can be made that an opinion can be "wrong". The facts one uses to determine what their opinion is can be wrong, yes. However that doesn't mean the opinion is wrong, it means the facts are wrong. This is all just a silly debate to try and prove that one persons opinion about a certain MMOG is wrong... apparently people aren't supposed to have differing opinions...

Originally posted by Bladin What he is saying is correct. In a more simple(since the people here at mmorpg.com need things simple) way of saying it. If you measured out a 1"x1" square of cement, and then measured out a 2"x2" square of cement. And had someone come up and answer "which square is the largest". The answer is obviously 2"x2" but if someone were to say "in my opinion the 1"x1" square is bigger". The excuse of saying "in my opinion" does not change the fact that the 2"x2" is bigger. It's the same with mmorpgs. Peoples opinions can flat out be wrong. But not always. Saying a opinion can be flat out wrong, is not the same thing as saying "all opinions are either right or wrong"
That is not actually correct.
If somebody said "In my opinion the 1" x 1" square is" they are not using the correct noun.
They should say "In my estimation the 1" x 1" square is".
The reason for this is because in the example that you have given it is possible to verify the truth.
Opinions are given when the truth cannot be established so by default are neither correct or incorrect.

I've been reading forums since I ran a 2 line 2400baud bbs some 16 years ago. In my opinion based on personal experience this thread is full of fail.
